Game Overview
If ever there’s a case of a slot title and its theme not matching, it has to be Play’n Go’s latest release, Joker Flip. The title and the game’s marketing, featuring a jester in full uniform, suggest another slot themed around jesters or jokers of old. However, once it loads up, we’re greeted with a sunny city full of casinos, palm trees, and water fountains. It’s quite confusing. Hopefully, everything will get cleared up as we progress through the review of this 5-reel slot featuring 20 paylines, a 96.20% RTP, and a 2,500x maximum win.
In terms of features, there are Mystery Symbols that can create wild multipliers with values of up to 10x or transform into the same type of regular symbol, and a Lock-On Re-Spin feature which can trigger Walking Wilds that add more Mystery Symbols to the reels. As for the main bonus, the reels flip over and reverse, meaning those walking wilds now move from right to left instead of the other way around.
If you are looking for a fun and light-hearted online slot to brighten your evening, you can’t go wrong with our free demo slot, Joker Flip, which you can play below.
Joker Flip Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
While this slot is called Joker Flip, as I said in the intro, I don’t see the connection with the casino city vibe in the background. I was expecting a traditional Joker slot style, and if you were too, then we have lots of free play slots you can try with that theme, like Pragmatic Play’s Joker’s Jewels Wild, Relax Gaming’s Joker Split, and Inspired Gaming’s Wild Party Joker’s slot.
The casino theme continues with the symbols on the reels and in the paytable. The Red Seven proves to be the most valuable, offering up to 8x the stake, with the Gold Bars following with a 3.2x return for a five-symbol combination, the same maximum payout you’ll get from the Dice. The Poker Chips and Bar symbols then complete the premium paying section, both paying up to 1.6x. The Watermelon, Orange, Plum, and Cherries then come into play as the low paying symbols with equal returns of 0.8x for a winning combo of five.
Let’s finish up with the betting range on Joker Flip which begins at a minimum of €0.20 a spin and maxes out at €20.00. Any high rollers encountering this slot game may find the upper limit somewhat low, but the vast majority of players will easily find a suitable stake within the available range.
Joker Flip Slot Base Game & Modifiers
Joker Flip has a standard reel configuration, so there’ll be no head-scratching here. There are five reels, three rows, and 20 fixed paylines. You’ll scoop a payout when you land three or more of the same symbol across one of those lines.
Mystery Symbols
Along the way, Mystery Symbols can aid your winning potential and can land on all reels. When they land, they’ll either turn into wild symbols holding multiplier values of 2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x or into the same type of regular symbol. If there are multiple wilds with a multiplier value, those values are added together before they’re applied to any wins they help to create. Wilds substitute for all regular paying symbols.
Lock On Respins
Whenever the first and second reels contain full stacks of the same symbol, but no win is recorded, the Lock On Re-Spin feature kicks into action. The third reel receives a re-spin while all other reels are locked.
Walking Wilds
If the above Lock On Re-Spin reveals a third reel that is fully stacked with wild symbols, a Walking Wild is created. It will move one position to the right on each subsequent re-spin until it reaches the fifth reel. Each time it moves one position, it will leave between 1 and 4 Mystery Symbols on the reels behind it. Once it reaches the last reel, you’re given one additional re-spin for free.
Joker Flip Slot Bonus Features
Although not the most spectacular, there is a free spins bonus you can trigger on the Joker Flip slot. Doing so requires three scatter symbols to appear anywhere on the reels as a result of a base game spin.
Free Spins Feature
Once triggered, you’re given 12 free spins, but on reels that are now flipped over – hence the ‘Flip’ in the slot’s name, I guess. The order of the reels is now reversed, meaning the Re-Spin feature triggers when the two reels on the right side of the screen are stacked with the same symbols; The Walking Wilds also move to the left during that feature. It’s possible to trigger an additional 12 spins, up to a maximum of 120, each time three or more scatters land during the free spins bonus.
Pros
- The design is clean, colourful, and generally well done.
Cons
- In the modern era of slotting, the max win is low.
Joker Flip Slot Review Final Thoughts
No matter how anyone tries to flip it, this latest slot from Play’n Go is a little flat. Joker Flip has a few nice features, but there's nothing that leaves you amazed at what you’re playing. The max win is low, there’s no buy bonus, and the gameplay gets tedious after a while. Maybe some of you will enjoy this slot's simplicity, but for me, I’d choose to play countless slots over this one.
