Le Granny takes us straight back onto the grimy French streets used in Le Bandit, and we really do mean straight back. Smokey the raccoon can still be seen beside the reels wearing his purple cap and holding a crowbar, while cheese, beer mugs, baguettes, top hats and metal traps make up the majority of the symbols.

Granny herself appears on the Wild reward poster, and while it’s not necessarily a bad-looking slot, there’s no denying it’s very “Hacksaw”. Even Le Bunny made more effort to change the scenery and introduce a proper new theme, so… well, it’s not hard to feel it’s a bit lazy. Still, let’s look at how the game actually works and what bonuses and features it offers.

Le Granny Gameplay & Features

Le Granny is played on a 6-reel, 5-row grid using Cluster Pays, with wins formed by connecting at least five matching symbols horizontally or vertically. Bets range between €0.10 and €100 per spin; the game’s classed as being medium variance, and the default RTP is well below-average at just 94.23%.

Like the original, the base game focuses around a super cascade mechanic. Whenever a winning cluster forms, those symbols disappear, along with any other matching symbols visible on the grid. New symbols then drop into the empty places from above, and this process continues until no additional wins are formed.

The positions involved in the actual winning cluster become marked squares, and these remain marked underneath the new symbols. If a Rainbow symbol drops down, the marked positions activate and reveal coins or special symbols. The coins can reveal cash prizes of up to 500x, while the Four-Leaf Clovers multiply adjacent prizes by up to 10x. Collect all visible coin values, and once the pot has finished collecting, the remaining marked squares activate again.

Landing three of the FS symbols triggers the Luck of the Bandit bonus, awarding you eight free spins. During this feature, marked squares persist between spins until a Rainbow drops down and activates them, at which point the grid resets. Landing four FS symbols triggers the All That Flitters Is Gold bonus round, and here you receive 12 free spins. This time, however, marked squares remain active for the entire bonus, so a Rainbow can drop down more than once without resetting the marked positions back to normal.

Granny also features a so-called Secret bonus, and it’s triggered by landing five FS symbols anywhere in view. Doing so awards Treasure at the end of the Rainbow, again awarding 12 free spins with persistent marked squares, but here a Rainbow is guaranteed to land on every spin.
