Slotmill Slots – Free Demo Games

Slotmill is a popular casino game developer founded in 2019 by a team of industry veterans. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, the company has enjoyed rapid growth, primarily thanks to its ability to produce premium online slots that combine great graphics with innovative mechanics and concepts. In fact, Slotmill’s mission is to “provide a superior gaming experience by focusing on meticulous design and cutting-edge technology.”

The studio has lived up to its slogan so far and has developed a number of unique elements in its games. Their Fast Track option, for example, allows you to buy all bonuses and features automatically. They also created Burst Mode, which is like autoplay, but the spins play out behind the scenes and much faster than usual!

Holding licenses from the Malta Gaming Authority and Curacao eGaming, Slotmill is a reputable game developer, and their titles have become increasingly popular over the last few years. In our dedicated page and guide to the developer, our Slotmill review will inform you on everything you need to know about the software provider, including their background and history and insights into their game mechanics, and, as always, we’ve got a library of their demo slots included for you to enjoy.

History & Company Background

Slotmill, established in 2019 by industry veteran Johan Ohman, the former president and CEO of NetEnt, is based in Stockholm, Sweden. The provider was founded with the mission of revitalising the iGaming market by producing innovative, high-quality slot games, and while this is a pretty generic goal, to be fair to Slotmill, it’s one that they largely appear to have achieved!

From day one, Slotmill decided to give it their best. Their site states that their initial team collectively boasted more than 250 years of iGaming experience. Shortly after launch, Slotmill received a B2B license from Curaçao eGaming, allowing their games to become available to players all around the world. The year after launching, a few game developers in Stockholm closed their Sweden-based studios. Slotmill capitalised on this, adding several experienced game developers to its team.

In 2021, Slotmill was awarded a license by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), a major move that gave the provider great exposure and allowed their games to become available at even more online casinos. The same year, the company introduced “Fast Track”, a feature buy option offering multiple bonuses. This innovation won the “Rising Star” award from 5 Star Media. Later in the year, their games were also certified for distribution in Sweden, Latvia, and Lithuania.

In 2023, Slotmill entered the U.S. market, launching its games in New Jersey. Since then, they’ve enjoyed a rapid growth of popularity, and their games are now available at thousands of online casinos worldwide.

Slotmill Product Portfolio

Slotmill offers a diverse product portfolio, but they have, at the time of writing, only produced video slots. This means you won’t find casino table games, live titles, or instant wins. However, we quite like seeing this from a provider: they focus on what they know they’re best at, and, by all accounts, they’ve done a pretty good job thus far. Let’s take a look at five of their games that have gone on to be a big success with their fan base.

Online Slot Games

Sands of Eternity

Sands of Eternity takes you on a journey to ancient Egypt, and it’s a game that, in our opinion, does a good job of combining a historical theme with modern mechanics! The game features a unique 6×3 grid that can expand, offering up to 46,656 ways to win.

There’s also an Avalanche mechanic in play, ensuring that winning symbols disappear, with new ones cascading into place and potentially creating consecutive wins within a single spin. Special stone blocks, like the “Wild Scarab,” “Eye of Horus,” and “Golden Scarab,” also introduce some unique gameplay, as each has its own little power-up, releasing wild symbols, removing low-paying symbols, or placing jumbo wilds on the grid.

Next, you’ll find an expansion feature that can randomly increase the number of betways, and the main bonus round is a free spins feature where you can start with up to 18 free games and a progressive win potential in play. The maximum win potential of 7,500x should prove high enough for most players!

Ragnarok

Next, you’ll enter the heart of Norse mythology with Ragnarok, a Slotmill release that aims to bring classic stories to life! The game’s played on a 5×5 grid and uses the Avalanche Cluster Pays mechanic, where clusters of matching symbols explode to make way for new symbols.

There’s also a progressive win multiplier in play at all times. This doubles on each successive win, resetting only when no more wins are formed. Giant symbols representing Norse gods can also land on the reels, and, like most of the software provider’s games, there’s also a free spins bonus, where most of the win potential can be found!

Raging Riches

Raging Riches marked the debut of Slotmill’s “Slotmill Legends” series, where classic slot themes are “reimagined” with modern features and mechanics. Set against a backdrop showing the North American prairies, this 4-5-5-5-4 reel slot offers up to 5,488 Bet Ways, so, as you can see, Slotmill are not strangers to unique concepts and mechanics!

The game manages to capture the feel of a traditional slot machine despite the highly unique (and, in our opinion, modern) layout. The main goal of the slot is to land 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view, as doing so triggers the main free spins bonus. During the feature, wild symbols “come to life” with multipliers of 2x or 3x – and if you land an “UP” symbol on the reels, the playfield can expand, too!

There’s also a second Fortune Frenzy Bonus, which is triggered by landing six coin symbols anywhere in view. And yes, if you hadn’t already guessed – this is a classic Hold & Win feature, where you begin initially with three, and landing any coin values on the screen resets your remaining re-spin counter to three. It’s a decent game overall, though, and you can win up to 5,000x your bet while playing, too!

Eternal Dusk

Taking a step back for a moment into a more conventional-looking slot brings us Eternal Dusk, designed around a five-reel, four-row layout with 30 fixed paylines. There are some pretty cool bonuses and features inside, like the Wild Surge, which randomly adds up to 10 wild symbols onto the reels, with each carrying a potential multiplier of up to 10x! Now, things get interesting when more than one wild symbol lands, as their multipliers combine, so even the base game offers up some solid win potential!

Then, we have the main free spins triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view, introducing the Golden Roaming Wild feature. This wild changes its position on each spin, and collecting scatters during the feature increases this wild’s multiplier! It’s an exciting game, boasting a solid maximum win potential of 10,000x!

Brew Brothers

Brew Brothers is one of Slotmill’s most successful releases, and, as the name implies, it’s themed around… beer! The action takes place inside a brewery designed around a familiar-looking five-reel, four-row layout. You’ll find 40 fixed paylines in play at all times, and there’s a good amount of action happening throughout the gameplay

During the base game, for example, mystery symbols can land, and when they do, they initiate re-spins and, potentially, random symbol transformation. Landing three treasure chest symbols unlocks eight free spins, and it’s also possible to trigger a super free spins bonus, where there are even larger multipliers and better wild symbols on the reels!

Jackpot Slots

At the time of writing, the game developer does not offer any games with progressive jackpots. While this is a shame, it’s hardly surprising, especially as the company only launched six years ago. In the future, however, we may see them releasing jackpot games, but as of now, they don’t offer any, nor are there any public plans to do so.

Table Games, Bingo, and Other Casino Games

Similarly to the jackpot slots section we just spoke of, when it comes to casino table games, bingo, and other games, Slotmill again falls short in this department. Now, that’s not because they lack the ability to create them, nor is it likely due to time or budget constraints.

Game Mechanics, How They Work & Unique Features

Slotmill offers a superb range of mechanics in their games, having some of the best variety we’ve seen, especially from a new provider with a still (relatively) limited number of games under their belt. Below, we’ll explore the mechanics you’ll find within their games.

Paylines

Slotmill has produced a number of line-based games, and these are, in other words, your classic slots. In video slots with paylines, wins are usually formed by matching three or more symbols on a line, from left to right. Some payline-based games pay both ways, but it’s usually left to right.

Popular Slotmill Payline Slots:

  • Eternal Dusk
  • Brew Brothers: Xmas Brew
  • Gods of Glory
  • Golden Scrolls

Cluster Pays

Cluster Pays games are also very popular, and this is largely thanks to the likes of Play’n Go, who popularised the concept in releases like Reactoonz and Wild Frames. In cluster pays slots, there are no paylines; wins are formed by landing clusters, usually five or six symbols adjacently. The larger the cluster, the bigger the win!

Popular Slotmill Cluster Games

  • Coins and Cannons
  • Sweet Spotz
  • Ca$h Pandas
  • Ragnarok

Ways to Win

Ways to Win games are a huge player favourite, largely popularised by Microgaming. In ways-to-win games, there are also no paylines; instead, wins are formed from left to right, but the position of the symbol on the reels doesn’t matter!

Popular Slotmill Ways-to-Win Slots:

  • Last Man Standing
  • Sands of Eternity
  • Money Jar 2
  • Chilli Bandits

Scatter Pays

Scatter pays games are less common than ways-to-win or cluster pays slots, but they’re still a player favourite, and we saw a lot of them released by Pragmatic Play over the past few years. In scatter pays games, you win by landing a minimum number of symbols anywhere in view, they don’t need to land on a payline, adjacent reels, or even in a cluster.

Popular Slotmill Scatter Pays Slots:

  • Emberfall
  • Lucy Luck and the Temple of Mysteries
  • Super Fruit Smash

Unique Mechanics

Fast Track

Slotmill’s Fast Track feature is a cool way of allowing players to bypass the base game and directly access a game’s bonus features, similar to bonus buy mechanics we see in a lot of slots today. By selecting Fast Track, players can instantly enter bonus games, free spins, or access modified/enhanced reel sets, making it slightly different from standard bonus buys.

Each Fast Track option is tailored to the specific game’s mechanics and theme, so, in some slots, for example, you may find a few different free spins options available for purchase, while in others, you can buy free spins and enhanced base game spins with guaranteed wild reels or a guaranteed scatter symbol, for example.

Burst Mode

Another mechanic from Slotmill is Burst Mode, an enhanced version of autoplay designed for players who want faster game speeds, and when we say fast, we mean very fast! Activating Burst Mode massively speeds up the gameplay, completing two game rounds per second. This mechanic replaces traditional reel animations with a streamlined win presentation, focusing on results rather than visual spins.

Once you activate Burst Mode (you select your bet and how many rounds you want to play), you’ll see a counter that displays the number of spins played, how much you’ve spent, how much you’ve won back, and the number of bonuses and features you’ve triggered. If you land a bonus round, you’ll see a pop-up, and you can opt to watch the bonus round play out as normal, but if not, you won’t be watching the reels spin!

Such is the uniqueness of Burst Mode; we’ve since seen Nolimit City incorporate almost an identical version into their slots, named Action Spins. Whether or not other studios will follow, we’ll have to wait and see, but it’s a standout mechanic and a controversial one, too.

#1 Brew BrothersSlotmill

Slot Stats: RTP: 96.09% | Max Win: 12000x | Review & Demo

Our Conclusion: Slotmill has produced some great games recently, and Brew Brothers is definitely up there as one of their best. Sticky wilds are often a great feature in a bonus round, and this one doesn’t disappoint. There is real potential in the free spins bonus, particularly if you can activate the Tractor Feature and get that huge multiplier wild out to play, and Old Betty provides potential, to a lesser extent, during the base game. I can see this title being particularly popular with those who can bonus buy due to the numerous feature purchase options available and the fun factor of the bonus. However, for those who can't, I still think there's plenty here to keep them entertained.

Commitment to Player Safety & Fairness

Licensing & Regulation

Slotmill’s first online gambling license was awarded to them from Curacao eGaming, so they were sublicensed by a Master License holder. Now that Curacao has started to clean up its act, it’s unclear whether they’ve “upgraded” to a license from the Curacao Gaming Control Board. However, that’s a moot point, as the main license they push all their games out under today is issued by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). They hold a B2B Type 1 Services license under the registration MGA/B2B/851/2020.

Fair Play & Security

Slotmill is a licensed iGaming provider, which means it is required, under the terms and conditions of its license, to have its games tested, approved, and certified. While its website displays a Gaming Associates logo to confirm the testing, there is no link to the certificate.

Partnerships & Collaborations

Like many studios, Slotmill has entered into a series of collaborations and partnerships with game aggregators, operators, and other providers. These are usually crucial steps for newer game studios to allow their games to be pushed out to as many online casinos and potential players as possible.

In October 2021, for example, two years after launching, Slotmill integrated its entire game portfolio with the SOFTSWISS Game Aggregator. This move enabled SOFTSWISS clients to access Slotmill’s full range of games, which, in turn, allowed them to be pushed out at thousands of online casinos worldwide.

Then, in early 2022, Slotmill joined forces with Alea, another leading aggregator in the industry. The partnership gave Slotmill access to Alea’s extensive operator network, and just a few months later, Slotmill signed a distribution deal with Games Global. This agreement gave Slotmill exposure to a vast network of nearly 1,000 brands and over 260 operators.

In January 2023, Slotmill partnered with SoftGamings, a well-established casino solutions provider. This collaboration allowed SoftGamings’ clients to offer Slotmill’s growing portfolio. In May, they signed a partnership agreement with Fortune Coins Casino, a fast-growing North American social casino. This marked Slotmill’s first entry into the North American market, albeit in a social casino setting.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Slotmill doesn’t say anything about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on its website. However, it’s still a relatively young company, and its team is probably fairly small. However, we may see them launch initiatives in the future, and if and when this happens, we’ll update this section accordingly!

Final Summary

Slotmill might be one of the newer kids on the iGaming block, but they’ve made a seriously strong impression since they launched, and they’ve been able to produce some impressive games so far.

What we’ve found from playing their games is that they combine fantastic visuals, innovative mechanics, and a mobile-first focus, and while that’s not something that’s impossible to find in today’s iGaming market, you’d be surprised how many game developers don’t manage to offer all three!

Features like Burst Mode and Fast Track offer something fresh, and while they don’t yet offer table games or jackpots, their decision to specialise in video slots has clearly paid off. With a solid MGA license, strong partnerships, and a growing portfolio of high-quality games, Slotmill’s future looks bright, and here at Demoslot, we’re excited to see what they do next!
