Our Conclusion: If you're from the UK and have gambled in the past, there's a very high chance that you will have played at least one variation of Rainbow Riches. Barcrest

Acquired by Scientific Games from IGT in 2010, Barcrest is a UK-based gaming company with a long history in arcade and casino games, famous for titles like Rainbow Riches and Thai Flower. This was another major acquisition, and it allowed Barcrest’s games, which had predominantly succeeded in land-based casinos, bingo halls, and betting shops, to be made available online.

Come2Play

SciPlay, Light & Wonder’s social gaming subsidiary, acquired this Israeli social gaming company in 2020. Come2Play brought expertise in the social casino market and diversified SciPlay’s portfolio with its mobile and social game offerings. Dragonplay LTD

Koukoi Games Oy

SciPlay acquired Koukoi Games Oy, a Finland-based developer of casual mobile games, in July 2021. They achieve this primarily through developing new game concepts and using their proprietary technology platform.

Stargames Pty Ltd

This Australian game development studio is part of Light & Wonder’s ANZ (Australia and New Zealand) operations. Unfortunately, there is very little information surrounding the actual acquisition, and some sources speculate that the studio was integrated into previous acquisitions like Bally Technologies, which had a significant presence in Australia.

Bang Bang Games

Light & Wonder made a 20% equity investment in Bang Bang Games, a London-based slot studio, in April 2025. This investment, part of Light & Wonder’s Spark program, is designed to “support emerging studios by providing them with tools and market access”, although it remains to be seen how this will pan out as it’s very early days.

Romania has granted them the ONJN Class 2-a Licence, Decizie Nr. 310, and in Sweden, they hold the SGA (Spelinspektionen) Licence to manufacture, with license number 23Si756. Belgium has also awarded them a license through the Commission Des Jeux De Hasard, with license E563148. In Denmark, Spillemyndigheden licenses them, with the license number J.nr. 24-439710. 

Their operations in Gibraltar are covered by the B2B Gaming Operator’s Licence (RGL No. 073), while in the UK, they hold several remote operating licences.
