Our Conclusion:

Mortal Oath is a fairly decent debut from Foxhound Games, and it combines a dark, supernatural theme with quite a few mechanics, all of which are designed to reward patience, we feel. The Corrupted Hunter symbol is without a doubt the core “driving force” of the base game, and without it, base game wins are pretty small, and this can feel a little dull, especially considering the 9-payline setup.

Still, if you make it to The Night of the Hunt Bonus, you’ll start to see where the game’s win potential lies. The stacking multipliers, special symbol interactions and Divine Retribution mechanic are pretty interesting, even if it can all be over pretty quickly.

It’s a volatile release and a slightly risky one, given the 9-payline format, but it’s far from being the worst debut we’ve ever seen, and the 10,000x maximum win potential is decent. Still, it’s hard to get away from the fact that it’s VERY Hacksaw Gaming, and there’s nothing massively new here, but for a first release? We’ll take it.
