So, I think we have already made it pretty clear that Deadly 5 is an obvious copy of Dead or Alive in some ways, but this only goes as far as the visual styling; the game itself plays quite differently, and there are few similarities between this game and any of NetEnt’s classic Dead or Alive slots as far as how the games play. The five-by-four layout is quite unusual, especially for a game with 20 paylines. A 5,000x win cap feels incredibly tame by Dead or Alive standards too – the latest game in that franchise maxes out at 111,111x your stake, so there is quite a significant gap in terms of how much you can win from playing these slots. 


It sounds like a bad start for Push Gaming, but can they pull things back with their paytable? The wild symbol pays a chunky 250x your bet for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, but you will be lucky to see this more than once a month, even if you play the game every day. I’m not basing that assessment on math or anything, but I still think it is reasonably based on the size of the win and the odds of winning the highest 5,000x prize. The bonus symbols pay 50x your bet for all five, but again, this will be a rare sight no matter how often you play Deadly 5. The cowboy with twin shooters is worth 75x your bet for all five, whilst the female outlaw pays 62.5x, and the other girl with white ponytails returns 50x your stake for five-of-a-kind. The final “high-paying” symbol is the cigar-smoking outlaw with a return of 37.5x your bet for all five, after which there are just four more low-paying symbols which all pay 5x your bet or lower for a full pay line.

Staking options range from €0.10 per spin at the bottom to €100.00 at the top, but as is all too frequent in online slots, there aren’t too many options toward the top end of this range. I doubt this will bother too many players - does anybody play €100 per round? Even so, it still seems worth mentioning here.

The base game of the Deadly 5 online slot consists of five reels with four symbols per reel. Twenty paylines are spanning this area, which is slightly lower than average, bearing in mind that many 5x3 games have more than 20 ways to win, but as most of the symbols are stacked, you should still find that wins appear with a relatively high frequency.

Unfortunately, there are no modifiers or other base game features in Deadly 5, so I guess we’ll move straight on to the bonus rounds section – Push Gaming has a little more to offer in that department!

As for the other four reels, these also have a related outlaw shown at the top of the reel, and any matching symbols that appear below will expand and become a stacked wild for the current spin only. As each new free spin kicks in, your expanded wilds will disappear, and you will have to hope to hit them again.

Whilst I was testing the game, I managed to hit stacked wilds on four reels simultaneously on one occasion, which paid exceptionally well, but on many other occasions, I had several stacked wilds appear without any real benefit in terms of my cash return. Overall, I found the bonus round profitable, but not to the extent that I would rush to use the bonus buy feature often. Speaking of which.
