History & Company Background
Skywind Group’s journey began in 2012 when a group of highly experienced iGaming experts came together to develop high-performance online gambling software. Initially choosing to focus on R&D, Skywind spent its early years developing a robust gaming platform.
Towards the end of 2016, the company decided to change direction, releasing its first real-money slot titles and entering new markets. Two years later, in 2018, they secured multiple online gambling licenses in the UK, Malta, Spain, Romania, and Alderney. They also began entering into distribution deals to enter Latin America and Asia.
In 2019, Skywind partnered with industry giants like Playtech, delivering games to platforms such as Sun Bingo and The Sun Vegas. This deal also brought its newly released Downton Abbey slot to a broad UK audience. The same year, Skywind integrated with some of the world’s largest content aggregators, like EveryMatrix’s CasinoEngine, allowing their (then) 230+ games to reach more players than ever.
By the end of 2019, Skywind had grown from a relatively small company into a global iGaming provider, and its content started entering new markets like Italy, Sweden, and Denmark. Its team grew to more than 250 employees, and it also won a number of awards, including the Gaming Intelligence “One to Watch Supplier” award in 2020, after releasing a whopping 70 games in just one year!
In June 2022, Skywind acquired Intouch Games Group, a UK-based slots developer and casino operator. This acquisition saw the company operating popular mobile casino brands in the UK, including mFortune and PocketWin.
Today, Skywind employs more than 600 staff members and has offices in the UK, Malta, Australia, Eastern Europe, and Asia!

Skywind Product Portfolio
Skywind is a multi-product casino developer, so you’ll find virtually all types of games offered by them. At its core, the software provider focuses primarily on video slots, including classic three-reel games, to modern five-reel slots with 3D graphics! They have also produced a range of branded slots, including Rambo, Resident Evil 6, Downton Abbey, and Netflix’s hit Money Heist.
Beyond slots, Skywind has also ventured into producing jackpot games, arcade-style titles, and, more recently, a fully comprehensive live dealer casino! Below, we’ll explore the game categories they offer and some of their most popular titles.
Online Slot Games
Skywind Group has produced a pretty impressive range of online slots, especially considering the sheer number of releases they’re behind. Below, we’ll look at five of their most popular titles.
- Big Buffalo: Big Buffalo is one of Skywind’s flagship video slots and a favourite among players who love high-action, high-potential games. Set on the North American prairies, this 6-reel, 4-row slot provides 4,096 ways to win on every spin, so you don’t need to worry about conventional paylines. Landing three or more scatter symbols in view triggers the free spins round, where you’ll receive between 8 and 100 free games, and during this feature, any wilds that appear carry 2x or 3x multipliers – multipliers that combine when more than one lands.
- Joker’s Luck: Joker’s Luck may be one of Skywind’s most unusual slot releases, and the game features a single-reel, single-row format. There’s just one symbol in play per spin – and despite this, it’s proven to be one of the game developer’s most popular releases! Each time you land one of the coloured joker symbols, it contributes to building one of three cash prize towers on the screen. The goal is to fill these towers completely. Doing so awards a special Cashpot Bonus!
- Vinci La Gallina: Vinci La Gallina is yet another one-line, one-row slot, but don’t let the layout and farmyard theme fool you: it’s another highly popular release, and in the game, there are three types of golden symbols: bells, stars, and horseshoes. Like Joker’s Luck, each time you land a winning combo, you build progress towards one of the towers, and filling one awards that tower’s respective cash prize.
- Big Top Bonanza Megaways: Skywind jumped into the Megaways craze with Big Top Bonanza Megaways, and it quickly became one of their top-performing slots. As the name suggests, this game uses the Megaways mechanic under license from BTG, offering up to 200,704 ways to win on each spin! Hitting four or more scatter symbols anywhere in view triggers the free spins bonus, awarding up to 16 free spins, and during the bonus, you’ll benefit from guaranteed modifiers, including added wilds or multipliers.
- Nordic Winnings: Rounding out the top five is Nordic Winnings, a cool-looking Viking-themed slot that shows just how strong Skywind is when developing feature-rich slots. This slot is set on a frozen battlefield with 5 reels and a host of Nordic warrior symbols and runic letters. What makes Nordic Winnings special is its innovative bonus round. Landing at least three bonus symbols triggers a feature where you can choose 1 of 3 different free game modes. One mode, for example, offers fewer free spins but a higher win multiplier, while another offers more free spins and added wilds!
Jackpot Slots
Jackpot games have become a key component of the Skywind portfolio, with the studio running several progressive jackpot networks that link slots together. One of their most popular progressive jackpot titles is Super Lion, which features a special gem symbol that, when five land across a payline, the progressive Grand Jackpot is awarded instantly!
In some of its other games, Skywind also offers fixed jackpots. Mammoth Gold, for example, has three fixed jackpots worth up to 2,000x. It also offers Must-Win Jackpots, branded as Must-Go Jackpots. These operate similarly to those from Red Tiger. The jackpot amounts must be won before hitting a specific monetary value or reaching a time limit.
Table Games, Bingo & Other Casino Games
While they’re best known for their slots, Skywind has also diversified into several other casino game verticals. They’ve produced a small range of casino table games, including blackjack, baccarat, and Sic Bo. You’ll also find a few Video Bingo and Lottery-style games, with popular titles including Fu Fish Bingo and Jogo do Bicho Bingo.
Skywind has also produced some arcade and casual games. These include fish hunting games (which are becoming increasingly popular in today’s iGaming market) and shootout-style titles.
Finally, Skywind also operates a live dealer casino. Thanks to its Physical RNG division, Skywind offers a modest yet high-quality selection of live dealer games, including Live Blackjack, Live Roulette, and Live Baccarat. These live dealer games are streamed live from professional studios with real dealers, and while they’re far from being as popular as those from Evolution (previously Evolution Gaming) or Pragmatic Play, they’re appearing at online casinos more frequently.

Game Mechanics & How They Work
One of Skywind’s strengths is the variety of game mechanics it uses within its games, and you’ll find everything from traditional payline formats to unique ways-to-win games. Below, we’ll explore the different mechanics found within their titles.
Paylines
Payline-based games are, by far, the most common in both the online and land-based gambling worlds. Paylines mean that you need to land (usually) three or more symbols on an active payline to form a win starting from the leftmost reel first.
Popular Skywind Payline Games:
- Joker’s Luck
- Nordic Winnings
- Gem Temple
Cluster Pays
Cluster pays games have become increasingly popular in recent years, mainly due to their innovative in-game features, such as cascading reels. In cluster pays slots, you don’t need to worry about where symbols land in the playfield as long as there are enough in adjacent positions to each other to create a winning combo.
Popular Skywind Cluster Pays Games:
- Inca Jackpot
- Tiki Bee Bar
- Sunny Stacks
Scatter Pays
More providers are now turning to the scatter pays mechanic, as this is another popualr slot genre typically used in highly volatile releases. Win are awarded in a scatter pays slot when matching symbols land anywhere in view, with a minimum of six symbols generally required to trigger a payout.
Popular Skywind Scatter Pays Games:
- Sky Piggies
Megaways
As discussed earlier, Skywind licensed the Megaways engine from Big Time Gaming, so the studio can now create games using their patented reel-modifying game engine. These games payout in the same style as Ways to Win slots, where you’ll typically need to land three matching symbols on consecutive reels in any position starting from the leftmost reel first.
Popular Skywind Megaways Slots:
- Big Buffalo Megaways
- Sticky Sevens Megaways
- Big Top Bonanza Megaways
Ways to Win
Ways to win games usually pay from left to right, and here, you don’t need to worry about landing symbols on specific paylines, either. Instead, you need to land (typically) three or more from left to right; their position on the reels doesn’t matter.
Popular Skywind Ways to Win Games:
- New Year’s Fortune
- Downton Abbey
- Shaolin Showdown
Unique Features From Skywind
Bonus Coin Rewards
One of the unique features found in some Skywind Group games is its player engagement tool suite. These are mechanics outside of the normal slot play designed to enhance the player’s experience – and allow operators to lengthen the time players spend spinning the reels. For example, Skywind developed a Bonus Coins Reward system, where players collect coin symbols during gameplay. These coins can then be redeemed for prizes or features, similar to what you’ll find in some Quickspin slots.
Lucky Envelopes
Another unique player engagement tool found in some Skywind Group slots is lucky envelopes. These are, essentially, random instant win prizes, and if an operator chooses to implement them, players – on any bet size – have the chance to trigger a Lucky Envelope Feature. When this happens, an envelope appears on screen – and the player is then guaranteed a jackpot award, up to $2,500.

Licensing & Regulation
Skywind Group is extremely well-licensed, which allows it to offer its games to players worldwide. For example, it holds online gambling licenses from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC), two of the world’s most recognisable iGaming regulators. It’s also been certified in a number of local markets, like Sweden, Ontario, and Greece.
- Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) – MGA/B2B/519/2018
- United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) – Remote 052261-R-329507-004
- Spelinspektionen
- Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) – GRSM1241578
- Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGA) – HGC-000063-MN
- Gibraltar Regulatory Authority (GRA)
- Romania’s Oficiul Național pentru Jocuri de Noroc (ONJN)
- Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC)
Fair Play & Security
Skywind Group does not list information about which game testing houses it uses on its website – but this isn’t something we’re worried about. To receive an online gambling license from regulators like the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC), their games must be certified and tested. Some of the world’s most popular testing houses include eCOGRA (eCommerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance), GLI (Gaming Laboratories International), and iTech Labs, which will undoubtedly be where the studio has had its products tested.
Partnerships & Collaborations
Skywind has grown its presence largely through entering into partnerships and platform collaborations in the iGaming industry. Early on, Skywind struck deals with various game aggregators – companies that integrate multiple providers into one package – so online casinos can instantly offer players thousands of games from multiple providers. For example, in 2019, Skywind partnered with EveryMatrix’s CasinoEngine aggregation platform, instantly extending its reach to EveryMatrix’s network of 8,000+ games and dozens of operators. They also hold distribution deals with other aggregators, like SOFTSWISS, Relax Gaming, Pariplay, and BlueOcean Gaming.
Corporate Social Responsibility
In terms of corporate social responsibility, Skywind appears to be growing into this role. We haven’t found any public records of large philanthropic initiatives or charity drives yet (which is more common with bigger, more mature companies), but this may change in the future.
They do, however, incorporate responsible gambling tools into their games, like session time limits and reality checks – both of which are required by most online gambling regulators.

Final Summary
Skywind Group is a solid company with the ability to push out some pretty impressive slots. However, after a good 2022 and 2023, it appears they’ve dropped off the radar a little, being overtaken by the newer and smaller providers to the iGaming scene.
This could just prove to be a blip, and if the studio can release one or two outstanding slots, it will soon put itself back in the mix. But today, there’s more competition in the iGaming slots development industry than ever before, and it remains to be seen whether they can reclaim the momentum they enjoyed a few years back.
The Skywind Group is headquartered at Madison Building, Midtown, Queensway, Gibraltar, GX11 1AA, Gibraltar.
