With a name like “Red Hot Sapphires”, I expected to see yet another machine filled with fruits, lucky sevens, bells, and bars… I’m disappointed I was pretty much on the money with that guess. I wish developers would come up with some new ideas for their slots more often – these cherries, plums, and lemons are getting a little bit tiresome for this avid discipline of online slot machines. On the plus side, it does look great, the animation is perfectly executed, and the sound… well, it isn’t instantly annoying, but that’s about as excited as I can be on that side of things. Still, if the fruity slot theme appeals to you, this is an excellent example of the genre. Let’s go back to the positives now – I think I have done far too much ranting on the fruit-themed slot topic in previous reviews. The wild tops off the paytable and has a somewhat disappointing return of only 10x your stake for each full pay line consisting of five-of-a-kind. That is a perfectly acceptable figure for a game with 243 ways, but for a ten-line machine? I think there must be far more going on here than meets the eye – we’re never going to get anywhere near the stated 6,000x jackpot with those sorts of wins, are we? Lucky sevens take the silver podium spot at 5x for all five, whilst the BAR takes the bronze at 3x your bet.

A dollar sign pays 2.5x for five-of-a-kind, but the highest-paying fruit symbol (the lemon) has an identical return too. I’d assumed the fruit were the lower-paying half of the paytable, but that assumption turned out to make an a*s of well… me, and me. Five royals make up the bottom half of the paytable, all of which pay 1.5x per line except for the Aces, which are slightly better at 2x.

Your wagering options start at €0.10 per round, maxing out at €50.00 for the high rollers in the crowd. The range is nice and wide, but with only ten intervals in between those two extremes, there may well be some players who are frustrated by the €10, €20, and €50 options that take up the high-end. If you are going to allow bets of that size, at least let players choose increments in €5.00 steps!
