Treasure Island Live is a pirate-themed live casino game show developed by Pragmatic Play, and it was first released towards the end of 2023. Clearly drawing inspiration from Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island, the game is heavily focused on a pirate-themed adventure, and you’ll be playing alongside some familiar characters like Long John Silver, Captain Flint, and Billy Bones.
Unlike many live dealer games, Treasure Island is designed around a fast-moving wheel mechanic, and this means it functions in a similar manner to Crazy Time, Funky Time, or Monopoly LIVE.
In many ways, Treasure Island Live is Pragmatic Play’s answer to Evolution’s Crazy Time. It features a large multi-segment wheel, built-in random multipliers, and several unique bonus rounds that all can offer solid win potential in the right circumstances.
Interestingly, the version of Treasure Island you see today is not the original game Pragmatic Play launched. After early feedback from players, it was decided that the first iteration of the game was far too complicated. This led to Pragmatic Play redesigning and reimagining it, with the new release designed to be far less complex and more straightforward.
In this Treasure Island review, we’ll break down exactly how the game works, explain each feature in detail, and help you decide whether this live game show is worth your time.
Gameplay & Features
Treasure Island Live is built around a large wheel containing 54 segments. The majority of these segments, 45 in total, are just numbers, including the values 1, 2, 5, and 10. The remaining 9 segments are bonus rounds, divided across four unique bonus games. Before each spin begins, you simply choose which segments you want to cover, select how much to stake, and place your chips down on the betting layout.
Once betting closes, the live host spins the wheel to determine the outcome of the game round. Depending on where the wheel stops, you’ll either receive a standard multiplier payout (if a number lands) or enter one of the four bonus rounds, provided you have covered that bonus round option with a chip.
As with many Pragmatic Play LIVE titles, Treasure Island also includes a “Bet All” option which allows you to instantly place chips on every available wheel segment. You can also enable Autoplay if you want to repeat your last bet for a predetermined number of spins.
Wheel, Interface & User Experience
Treasure Island Live is streamed from a purpose-designed studio that resembles a tropical pirate hideout! The wheel itself is large, colourful, and easy to follow, and you’ll see it quite obviously positioned in the middle of the screen. Behind it, you’ll see various props, including palm trees, skulls, treasure chests, and sand! In our opinion, Treasure Island Live is one of Pragmatic Play’s best-looking live dealer games, and the atmosphere they’ve designed feels very well-thought-out, deliberate, and high-quality.
We also feel it’s worth pointing out that the hosts play a big role in the overall experience. They’re energetic, talkative, and clearly trained to keep things engaging, especially when the pace of the rounds slows down a bit due to longer bonus rounds.
The betting interface sits neatly at the bottom of the screen and displays all available betting options. As mentioned earlier, this includes the four numbered segments and the four different bonus rounds. It’s easy to place a bet; simply click the size of the chip you want to bet, and then click on the betting layout where you want to place it!
How to Play Treasure Island Live
Treasure Island Live is easy to pick up, particularly if you’ve played wheel-based live casino games before. To get started, simply follow the steps below:
Place Your Bets:
At the start of each round, you’ll have around 12 seconds to place your bets. To begin, you’ll need to decide which chip denomination(s) you want to place onto the grid. Select the chip, and then press/click on the betting grid where you want to place them!
You can choose to bet on any combination of number segments or bonus rounds. You can spread your bets across multiple segments, all of them, or focus on just one or two. As mentioned, you can also take advantage of the “Autoplay” and “Repeat Bet” options to make this process faster.
Booster & Wheel Spin:
Once betting closes, the host spins the main wheel. At the same time, the Booster mechanism is activated, and this is virtually identical to how the Top Slot game works in Crazy Time.
Once it’s activated, you’ll see it select a random segment (one of the numbers or bonus rounds), and a multiplier is then applied to that segment to boost payouts. You don’t need to do anything here, as it’s all automated, but it’s an important phase of the game, so you may want to pay attention!
Results & Payouts:
When the wheel stops, the pointer indicates which number/segment is the winner. If a number lands, all players who bet on that number receive a payout based on its odds. If that number was also selected by the Booster, the multiplier applies on top of the base win.
Bonus Rounds (if any):
If the wheel lands on a bonus segment, the corresponding bonus game begins instantly. Of course, like all wheel-based live dealer games, it’s these bonus rounds that typically offer the highest win potential, especially if multipliers are involved! And, in Treasure Island, you can expect a bonus to land, on average, every 6 spins.

Treasure Island Bonus Rounds Explained
Treasure Island Live includes four unique bonus rounds, plus the ever-important Booster Multiplier. All four bonus rounds are triggered by landing on their respective wheel segments, while the Booster applies to every single spin. This is one of the core differences from Crazy Time; in Treasure Island Live, you’re guaranteed a multiplier on every spin.
Below is a breakdown of how each feature works.
Booster Multiplier
Before each wheel spin, a two-reel Booster feature activates. One reel selects a wheel segment (either a number bet or a bonus), while the other assigns a multiplier ranging from 2x to 20x. As just mentioned, the Booster in Treasure Island is guaranteed to appear on every round, so there’s always some kind of enhancement, no matter how small.
If the wheel stops on the same segment selected by the Booster, the multiplier applies either to the number payout or to the total bonus round winnings.
John Silver’s Loot
John Silver’s Loot is a bingo-style bonus round centred around Long John Silver. The bonus features a draw machine filled with 40 balls, and these are split in half; 20 green and 20 red. Green balls increase your multiplier by moving you up a prize ladder, while a red ball immediately ends the round.
Once the round begins, balls are drawn one at a time. Each consecutive green ball pushes your multiplier higher, and this continues until a red ball is drawn or, if you’re very lucky, once the top of the ladder is reached.
To do so, you’d need to draw 15 green balls in a row, although, of course, the odds of this happening are astronomically slim. Do so, and it’s easy to see how the game’s max win potential of up to 20,000x can actually be achieved.
Ben’s Lost Marbles
Ben’s Lost Marbles is a Pachinko-inspired bonus round named after the crazy Ben Gunn character from the novel! Once triggered, you’ll be taken to a new screen where a large vertical pegboard is displayed. At the bottom of the pegboard you’ll see a number of pockets, and some of these are assigned a random multiplier.
The game determines how many marbles will drop using three special dice, each displaying values of 1, 2, or 3. The combined total decides how many “buckets” of marbles are released, and it’s possible for up to 10 buckets to be released.
Once the marbles begin to drop, gravity takes care of the rest. Any marbles that drop into the activated pockets are counted as wins.
Billy Bones’ Map
Billy Bones’ Map is a classic “Pick me Bonus”, and it’s designed around a large 8×8 grid of face-down tiles. Behind each tile is either a treasure gem with a multiplier or a special key symbol. Once you enter this feature, you’ll be prompted to select five tiles. If you don’t pick in time, the game picks for you automatically.
Once your picks have been locked in, the tiles you chose are revealed, and whatever multiplier values are behind them correspond to the amount you win. If you happen to pick three keys , you’ll unlock a special chest prize.
Captain Flint’s Treasure
Finally, there’s Captain Flint’s Treasure, the game’s most lucrative of the four bonus rounds. This is a multi-stage bonus round with six levels. At Level 1, all available barrels are safe, so you’re guaranteed to proceed to the next level, and you simply need to pick from the barrels. Each pick decides whether you proceed to the next level or, from Level 2 onwards, reveal a skull, which ends the round and awards the current multiplier.
Payouts, Probabilities & RTP
Treasure Island Live has an overall theoretical return of 96.5%, which is competitive for a live game show and slightly higher than many comparable Evolution titles. One of the most interesting parts of the game is that RTPs are generally very consistent. They all hover between 96.51% and 96.55%. This is quite unusual for game show live dealer games, as most have RTPs that can fluctuate a lot depending on which bet you place.
Here’s a look at the different betting options, their payouts (where applicable) and the probability of each bet landing:
| Wheel Segment | Payout | Probability |
| Number 1 | 1:1 | 33.33% |
| Number 2 | 2:1 | 27.78% |
| Number 5 | 5:1 | 14.81% |
| Number 10 | 10:1 | 7.41% |
| John Silver’s Loot Bonus | (enters bonus) | 7.41% |
| Ben’s Lost Marbles Bonus | (enters bonus) | 3.70% |
| Billy Bones’ Map Bonus | (enters bonus) | 3.70% |
| Captain Flint’s Treasure Bonus | (enters bonus) | 1.85% |
Now, as you can probably tell, the table above displays the game’s base payouts, excluding any multipliers. So, if a multiplier lands on a segment you’ve bet on, you simply need to apply that multiplier to the payout to figure out how much you’ll be paid.
If you’re interested, by the way, the probability of hitting any of the four bonus rounds on a single spin is 16.67%, which is quite high for a game show title like this!
Streaming Quality
While Evolution (previously Evolution Gaming) probably just takes the title for producing the best live dealer games at the time of writing, Pragmatic Play takes, in our opinion, a close second. Today, their games are designed and produced to a really high degree of quality.
As with all of their live dealer games, Treasure Island Live is presented in crisp HD, with smooth camera transitions and clear visuals throughout. When the wheel spins, the camera shifts to close-ups so you can see exactly where it lands. It also does a great job of showing the presenter, too, so you get to enjoy a fully immersive experience.
Mobile players are well catered for, too. The game is fully optimised for all modern phones/tablets, and the game quality is the same. The only small difference is that the betting interface is slightly simplified, so some betting options are accessible through expandable menus instead.
Treasure Island Live Strategy
Like all casino games, Treasure Island Live cannot be beaten in the long run. The house edge is built into the maths, and no strategy can change that reality; you’d be a fool to assume anything otherwise!
With that being said, there are many players who enjoy trying out different ways of playing the game, and using strategies can give you a better handle over the volatility of the game and your bankroll. Below, we’ll guide you through four common strategies that work well on Treasure Island.
The “Full Coverage” Strategy
This strategy involves betting on every wheel segment each round. Doing so guarantees a result on every spin, but it’s the most expensive option and typically results in faster losses.
The other downside to this approach is the fact that even when you do win, your total outlay is so high anyway, there’s a chance that the “win” may not even be a win; if some of the numbers hit, for example, and there are no multipliers, you could end up losing on the spin.
The “Numbers Only” Strategy
The second strategy is, for us, the most boring, and one that we feel kind of makes the game pointless to play. As the name suggests, this strategy involves betting on numbers only. By doing so, you reduce your per-round spend and benefit from higher hit frequency.
However, this approach completely removes the chance of you hitting any bonus rounds, and that’s basically what Treasure Island Live is all about. If you just want to bet on numbers like this, you’re probably better off playing something like Lightning Roulette.
The “Balance” Strategy
Next up is a slightly more measured strategy that involves covering all four bonus rounds alongside one or two higher-paying numbers, usually 5 and 10. Here you have the best of both worlds.
The two higher numbers mean that when they do drop, they comfortably cover your bets (and then some if multipliers apply), but you’ve also got the “security” and “fun-ness” of having all four bonuses covered. The strategy here for most players is to place slightly higher bets on the two numbers and lower chip sizes on the bonus round segments.
The “Bonus Hunt” Strategy
Finally, the riskiest and most volatile strategy of the four: covering the bonus round segments only. This high-risk strategy means you only place chips on the bonus round segments, which means losses can stack up quickly, especially when there’s a steady flow of numbers landing.
Still, the potential positives here are clear. If you manage to hit a few bonuses, your bet size will be, generally, higher than if you were covering numbers, too, so you stand to actually win more from the rounds where they hit.

Treasure Island Live Statistic Tracking
Like all live dealer games, Treasure Island runs on a fully randomised system, meaning there’s no betting strategy, staking plan, or “smart” adjustment that can overcome the maths in the long run. Every time the wheel is spun, the result is totally random and independent, with fixed probabilities that never change, regardless of what’s happened before.
With that being said, we’ve found that many players do find value in being able to access and digest historical data. By watching enough rounds, you’ll begin to notice streaks and clusters of results and have a better idea of the game’s volatility in reality.
Now, sure, while these patterns don’t influence future outcomes, they can help you to develop a better understanding of how the game’s playing and how to adjust your bets accordingly.
Why Do Players Check Treasure Island Live Stats?
Players check previous results for a variety of reasons, and not all of them are about trying to “beat” the game. Some players use Treasure Island Live stats as a vague reference point, for example, when deciding which bonus segments to bet on, while others may use the information they learn to choose when to increase or decrease the size of their bets. Others simply enjoy having a clearer picture of how a game unfolds over time.
For many, however, it’s just curiosity. Humans are naturally drawn to trends, streaks, and historical data, even when we know it doesn’t affect what comes next.
If you see a long period where no bonus rounds have landed, for example, or see a certain number segment landing a LOT more than you’d expect, well, that’s all information, and information is what makes our brains “tick”!
What Benefits Are There To Using Stats Trackers?
That depends entirely on how you approach them. If you enjoy having additional information on-screen, like being able to see which bonuses have landed recently or tracking the size of recent wins, then a Treasure Island Live stats tracker can make things a bit more exciting for you!
However, it’s already very important to be mindful of what these tools can and can’t do. Using one, for example, won’t increase your chances of winning. They don’t signal when a big win is coming, and they don’t change the probability of any segment landing, or not landing, next.
Yes, they can increase your overall awareness of the game, but they do not change the maths or probabilities behind the game.
What Do Treasure Island Live Trackers Tell You?
A Treasure Island Live tracker typically displays a range of historical data, such as:
- How frequent each wheel segment or bonus round has appeared recently
- A record of the recent multipliers and winning outcomes
- Information on when the last high-multiplier bonus round landed
- Details of the biggest multipliers in a set time period (as well as the biggest times-stake wins)

Treasure Island Live Review Final Thoughts
Treasure Island is definitely one of the more ambitious live dealer games from Pragmatic Play. While it had some teething problems originally, the revised version of the game is a lot more accessible and easy to play. We like the fact that there’s a lot going on (although this won’t suit every player) and especially like that there are multipliers on every spin. This is a big improvement over Crazy Time, in our opinion.
There’s also some superb win potential of up to 20,000x, which, while rare of course, is good to see. That being said, Treasure Island Live isn’t without its downsides, and like most live game shows, effective coverage of the board (bonus rounds) requires quite a high total bet per spin. This can often cause losing spins even when you do “win”, especially if the numbered segments land a lot.
However, if it’s the type of game you enjoy, Treasure Island is definitely worth a punt. It’s exciting, there’s tonnes of bonus action, and the fast-paced gameplay is more than capable of delivering big wins, too, if you manage to uncover the pirate’s hidden loot!
