What Is Mega Wheel?

Almost all live casino suppliers have produced multiple roulette versions, and one of Pragmatic Play's most well-known releases is Mega Roulette. Taking inspiration from other popular multiplier roulette games like Evolution’s Lightning Roulette and Playtech’s Quantum Roulette, Pragmatic’s newest version offers multipliers of up to 500x, significantly changing the dynamic of the game!

In our Mega Roulette review, we will be taking a close look at everything you need to know about the game. This will include the actual game mechanics, bonuses, multipliers, payouts, RTP, strategies, and more!

Gameplay & Features

Wheel, Interface, and User Experience

Mega Roulette is set in a sleek, professional studio environment, much like other Pragmatic Play live casino games. A friendly host presents the action while a physical, automatic roulette wheel can be seen in the middle of the screen. Interestingly, this Auto-Roulette wheel uses compressed air to spin the ball, alternating between clockwise and anti-clockwise rotations with each round.

Betting takes place on a familiar-looking roulette grid, and you have 20 seconds to place your bets between rounds. You can place chips directly onto the grid or through the integrated racetrack if you’re looking for neighbour and section bets.

Like all Pragmatic Play live dealer games, historical game results, multipliers, and statistics can be found at the bottom of the screen. A more detailed history section is also available in a pop-out window.

How to Play Mega Roulette

Mega Roulette is a very simple game to play, especially if you already have experience playing online roulette. Here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect:

  1. Place Your Bets: Once a new round begins, you’ll have 20 seconds to place your bets. You can also use the Auto Play function to repeat the same bets over multiple spins.

  1. Multiplier Selection: Once the betting round closes, a random number generator selects up to five random numbers. These numbers receive multipliers of 50x to 500x.

  1. Wheel Spin: After the multipliers have been assigned, the wheel spins and the ball is introduced.

  1. Results and Payouts: If the ball lands on your chosen number, you win! If it’s a straight-up bet and the number has a multiplier attached to it, your win amount is then multiplied by the selected multiplier.

As you can see, Mega Roulette is easy to play. Aside from the automatic multiplier mechanic, there are no differences between it and conventional roulette games, and all of the betting options are the same, too.

Mega Roulette Multipliers Explained

Mega Roulette differentiates itself through its multipliers, and on each spin, up to five numbers are randomly selected each round to receive a multiplier value. These multipliers range from 50x to an impressive 500x your stake.

Now, it’s important to note that multipliers can only be assigned to straight-up bets, which means that split bets, odds and evens, section bets, etc, won’t benefit from multipliers. Plus, because of the multiplier mechanic, the standard roulette payout of 35:1 for straight-up number bets drops to 29:1, which isn’t actually too bad!

Payouts, Probabilities, and RTP

Mega Roulette offers an attractive theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of 97.30%, slightly above average compared to other live casino games. However, straight-up bets specifically have an RTP of 96.50% due to the reduced payout rate. Of course, if you’re not planning on placing straight-up number bets, you don’t benefit from the multipliers, although your payouts do remain the same as conventional roulette games.

Here’s a quick summary of Mega Roulette’s payouts:

Bet TypePayoutProbability
Straight-Up29:12.70%
Splits17:15.41%
Streets11:18.11%
Corners8:110.81%
Six Line5:116.22%
Columns/Dozens2:132.43%
Even Chances1:148.65%

Now, while there is at least one guaranteed multiplier on each spin (up to a maximum of five), anything above 200x is relatively rare. So it goes without saying the 500x multiplier doesn’t come out that often.

Streaming Quality

As expected from Pragmatic Play, Mega Roulette boasts fantastic streaming quality and a smooth gameplay experience. Whether playing from a desktop, smartphone, or tablet, you'll enjoy HD-quality visuals and high-quality audio effects.

We always find Pragmatic Play's live dealers to be very friendly and professional. However, it’s worth noting that Mega Roulette’s game rounds are fast-paced, and the dealers have a lot of information to read out, so don’t expect them to get into overly deep conversation with you.

Mega Roulette Playing Strategy

As with any roulette game, Mega Roulette outcomes are driven purely by chance, meaning no betting strategy can guarantee long-term success. However, there are a few strategies that you can consider, especially if you’re more focused on managing your bankroll and extending the length of your playing sessions.

One of the most common strategies, particularly with newer players, is to bet on all the numbers. This is an aggressive strategy that involves placing a straight-up bet on every single number. You'll be guaranteed to hit any multiplier number when it lands, but the trade-off is a small loss every round you don't hit multipliers. While this method ensures that you win any multipliers that appear, it’s also risky. The best case scenario with this strategy, in our opinion, is hitting a large multiplier early on and then banking your winnings and walking away.

Another popular Mega Roulette strategy is wheel section betting. This strategy involves selecting sections of the wheel using the racetrack layout, covering numbers this way. However, you need to be a bit careful to ensure you’re only placing straight-up number bets: multipliers don’t apply to splits, remember! Of course, this approach costs you less per spin, but you also have a higher chance of missing multipliers.

Then, you’ve also got the lone straight-up number bet - known to some players as the “fun bet”. This is primarily used by players who don’t place straight-up numbers bets but prefer to cover less volatile parts of the wheel. However, on Mega Roulette, they then place a single straight-up number bet, giving a shot at a multiplier, at least.

Mega Roulette Statistic Tracking

Mega Roulette is built around randomness, but anyone who gambles knows it’s easy to think you’ve found patterns; numbers that are “hot” or “cold”, or sections of the wheel that haven’t landed in a while.

This is where statistic tracking software comes in handy - and here at Demoslot, we’ve integrated a Mega Roulette stat tracker into our site! But, before we get into that:

Why Do Players Check Previous Mega Roulette Results?

On the face of it, it’s pretty easy to see why. After all, if you’ve noticed that a certain number or segment of the wheel hasn’t landed in a while, you may, like many players, fall into the trap of assuming it must be “due” or that it’s more likely to show up soon.

Of course, that’s not true, and it’s a classic example of a gambler’s fallacy. Why? Because each time the roulette wheel spins, it’s a brand-new event. It doesn’t matter if a number hasn’t landed for a million spins; the probability of it coming in on the next spin remains identical to the previous round.

Are There Any Benefits to Using a Mega Roulette Results Tracker?

If used properly, a Mega Roulette stat tracker can give you a close look at the ‘overall picture’ of historical results. For example, as we just mentioned, you can view numbers that haven’t landed in a while or ones that are dropping more frequently than normal. You can also see how often multipliers have been appearing, how many multiple multipliers have appeared recently and how long it’s been since a big (200x+) multiplier has hit.

That information can be interesting, but does it actually give you an edge? No, but if you’re a player who likes to get an idea of long-term patterns or is curious about the average multiplier values or how often they land, then it can be useful.

These statistics can also be used if you’re the type of player who likes betting with a bit of logic, even if it’s mathematically flawed. For example, if you notice that lots of low multipliers have hit recently, you may choose to cover more numbers of subsequent spins, believing that a high multiplier is more likely to appear. Of course, this is again the gambler's fallacy, but it can be a nice way to bet, and it gives a bit of purpose to your sessions.

If you do decide to use a Mega Roulette stats tracker, however, make sure that you’re aware that it doesn’t give you the ability to beat the game long-term, nor does it allow you to increase your edge (or decrease the house’s.) Treat this information purely as informative and interesting.

What Does a Mega Roulette Results Tracker Tell You?

The stats trackers you’ll find online can give you some useful information. This includes:

  • How often multipliers have appeared
  • The value of recent multipliers
  • “Hot” and “Cold” numbers
  • Historical number results

Pros

  • Exciting multipliers worth up to 500x
  • Professional presenters and great streaming quality
  • High RTP of 97.30%
  • User-friendly, intuitive betting interface

Cons

  • Multipliers only apply to straight-up bets
  • Reduce straight-up payouts of 29:1
  • High multipliers don’t appear often

Mega Roulette Final Thoughts

If you’re familiar with the Evolution live game Lightning Roulette, then Pragmatic Play's Mega Roulette will probably feel familiar. While it’s true they haven’t really added anything unique, this shouldn’t be seen as laziness: instead, it’s simply Pragmatic keeping up with market demand and ensuring that they offer a similar (near-identical) product to their competitors.

And, while Evolution’s games are available at most casinos, it’s not always the case. So, if you are playing somewhere without Evolution’s games but want a multiplier-based roulette game to enjoy, Mega Roulette gives you the option to play.

While multiplier-based roulette games rarely appeal to serious gamblers, Mega Roulette is a decent game for those wanting a bit of quick fun - or the chance to hit big wins rarely offered up on classic casino table games. Just be aware of that lowered straight-up numbered payout of 29:1, and don’t forget that multipliers only apply to straight-up number bets.
