Slot Overview
Xiao Fu Bao 2 is a Light & Wonder release that’s designed around a 3-4-5-4-3 layout and offers 720 ways to win. It builds on the original game, this time, with a sticky coin mechanic, Cash Falls, a Wheel Bonus, and three free-spin modes. With a maximum win potential of 5,000x, it looks like a decent little sequel, but does it do enough to differentiate itself from its predecessor? Let’s find out.
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Xiao Fu Bao 2 is played on a 5-reel, 3-4-5-4-3 setup with 720 ways to win. You can bet from €0.20 to €100 per spin. The game runs on an RTP of 96%, which is bang-on average for the online slots market right now.
Now, the base game revolves around sticky coin symbols, and you’ll notice that any gold coins that land stick and hold for 3 spins, with each new coin resetting the counter back to 3. If you fill an entire reel with coins, you trigger the Cash Falls feature, which collects all values on that reel and awards that total as a cash prize.
There are also coloured Feature Coins, and these are where the game becomes a lot more unique than its predecessor. Blue, White, and Red coins act like regular sticky coins, but they also unlock different free spins modes when they become part of the right sequence. This means the same coin-hold mechanic can either pay directly, trigger Cash Falls, or start pushing you towards one of the bonus rounds.
Blue coins trigger More Free Spins, where you can win anywhere from 9 to 40 free games; white coins trigger Jackpot Free Spins, where jackpot coins feed into fixed jackpot meters; Mini, Minor, Maxi, Major, and Mega – the latter of which is worth 5,000x – and red coins trigger Scatter Free Spins, which uses an enhanced set of reels with extra red coins.
During the base game, you can also land a Wheel Wild that triggers the Wheel Bonus. When activated, you’re taken to a giant wheel that spins, and this can award times-stake multipliers, free spins, fixed jackpots, and, sometimes, upgrades.

Theme & Design
Xiao Fu Bao 2 sticks closely to the classic lucky-wealth formula that Light & Wonder used successfully in the original Xiao Fu Bao, and you’ll see red-and-gold graphics throughout, including smiling child mascots, scrolls, fans, jade ornaments, fireworks, and a prize wheel in the back.
It looks bright, busy, and very much what we’d expect to see from a Chinese-inspired game like this, and if you’re a fan of titles like Fu 1OK Ways Gold or Fu Fortunes Megaways, then Xiao Fu Bao 2 will probably be up your street, graphically at least.
Pros
- Coin features + Cash Falls give the base game some decent action
- Win up to 5,000x your bet
- Three different free spins modes
Cons
- Not the most original theme in the world
- No Bonus Buy options available
- The base game respin feature doesn’t seem to pay that well most of the time
Final Thoughts
Xiao Fu Bao 2 looks like a decent sequel, but it clearly has chosen to lean heavily on the coin mechanics, which is something we’re seeing in a lot of video slots right now.
Yes, the setup is quite familiar, but we do feel that the combination of sticky coins, cash falls, wheel awards, and multiple free spins bonus routes gives it more than a lot of the other Chinese-themed slots that use similar mechanics today, and it's definitely a step up from the original, we feel.
Sure, the max win potential of 5,000x isn't the best in the world, but for a local fixed jackpot, it's not the worst, and unlike a lot of the games released today, you do at least feel as though you have a chance of winning one of the jackpots, both within the base game and the bonus rounds.
It clearly won't be for everyone, but for us, Xiao Fu Bao 2 is a decent little sequel from Light and Wonder and one that we wouldn't mind trying out for ourselves.
