Game Overview

I couldn’t think precisely who William Tell was when I first saw the name of this slot on the to-do list… I felt sure it would all come flooding back to me as soon as I searched for his name. If you are more historically literate than me, then perhaps you’ll also be more excited to check out iSoftBet’s new William Tell & The Wild Arrows online slot. So what is being offered vital statistic wise? Well, my friends, we have 25 fixed paylines, an RTP of 96%, and a decent looking maximum win of 10,000x bet.

The game looks packed with features, starting with the Hold & Win feature that has previously appeared in many other iSoftBet online slots. This three-spin feature takes the form of a bow and arrow target practice session, with the most valuable targets worth up to 100x the bet. There are three jackpot prizes available in the Hold & Win feature, as well as some other surprises we’ll discuss shortly. Not to be outdone, the base game includes a handful of modifiers that can activate at the beginning or end of any paid spin.

The bow and arrow may seem laughably basic compared to modern weapons, but anybody who has tried shooting one will know that it takes a great deal of strength and practice to perform successfully. Thankfully, our free demo slot of William Tell & The Wild Arrows requires no strength or practice to enjoy!

William Tell And The Wild Arrows Slot Paytable

I was deliberately brief regarding William Tell himself in the opening paragraph, as I felt he deserved a proper introduction in this section instead. Who was William Tell? He is a legendary folk hero of Switzerland and was supposedly an expert mountain climber, crossbow marksman, and father of the Swiss Confederacy. The first written records regarding William date back to the 15th century and state that he lived sometime around the early 14th. In modern times, there is much debate as to whether William ever existed – some historians now believe that it is a fable based on the older Swiss legend of Palnatoki.

That’s quite enough serious historical content for one day at Demoslot, I think! It’s time to get down to business and check out the paytable now, starting with William Tell himself, who has a 16x return for a full payline of five-of-a-kind. The next character looks to be a noble in an old-fashioned black and white hat, and he will pay you 12x your bet for all five of his symbols. There’s a token female character in third place, paying 8x for a complete payline, and the final high-paying symbol is a soldier with a payout of 6x your bet for five-of-a-kind. There are three more medium-pay symbols with the appearance of oil paintings, the most valuable of which will pay you 4x for all five symbols. Finishing off the pays section, we have the lower value symbols represented by five royals, with these capable of paying up to 2x for a full payline of five.

The minimum bet per spin is a low-roller friendly €0.25, whilst the maximum wager of €25.00 is a little lower than that offered by some other online slots but should still be more than enough for the majority of players who want to try their luck on the game for real money.

Base Game & Modifiers

William Tell And The Wild Arrows Slot Base Game
William Tell and the Wild Arrows slot base game

William Tell & The Wild Arrows uses a regular 5×3 playfield spanned by 25 fixed paylines. You’ll need to land three or more matching symbols on a payline starting from the left to score yourself some winnings. Two base game modifiers are included to make this a little easier:

Williams Wild Arrow Modifier

This modifier can trigger randomly at the end of any base game spin, transforming up to five positions into wild symbols. I hit five wilds on one occasion while testing this game, although three symbols seem to be the most common outcome.

Gessler’s Greed Modifier

Another modifier that triggers randomly at the start of some base game spins is Gessler’s Greed, a one-spin-only feature that will remove all of the low-paying symbols from the reel set. This should theoretically make it much easier to hit a winning combination of high-paying symbols.

During the time that I was testing this slot, I only saw Gessler’s Greed trigger a couple of times. Sadly, I failed to win anything on both occasions, so I’m unsure just how much potential this modifier may have.

William Tell And Wild Arrows Slot Bonus Features

The base game of William Tell & The Wild Arrows has lots going on, but I struggled to hit anything exciting while writing this review. Would the bonus round be able to spice things up for me? Absolutely, but first, you will need to land five or more target symbols on a single base game spin.

Hold & Win Feature

After triggering this bonus, the game will set your re-spin counter to three before locking all of your triggering target symbols in their current positions. The reels will then begin to spin as normal, but the only symbol you need to keep an eye on now is the target.

Each target symbol that lands will reset your remaining spin counter back to three. Each target has a value of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 50x, or 100x your current stake. If you do not land any target symbols for three consecutive spins, the feature will end, and you will return to the base game. The value of all targets visible at the end of the feature will be added together to determine your win.

If an arrow hits a symbol position whilst this feature is in play, that position will divide into four smaller positions allowing a larger number of prizes to be won. The paytable shows almost the entire reel area divided into smaller positions, which might indicate that it can hit up to 60 unique prizes at once from this feature!

Note that there are three so-called jackpot prizes available in this mode too, but as they only have values of 20x, 50x, or 100x your bet – no higher than the regular targets – these aren’t as exciting as they may have been.

Bonus Buy

You can choose to skip the base game and go directly to the hold and win bonus round for a price of 60x the normal cost per spin. That seems like a fair price to me, and my results during testing indicate that you should get relatively close to this buy-in on most occasions. As they say, though, your mileage may vary!

William Tell And The Wild Arrows Slot Review Final Thoughts

We’ve seen endless online slots based around Robin Hood, so it’s nice to see a bow and arrow themed game based on a folk hero from a different country this time. It’s not the most exciting slot I’ve played this year by any means, but it’s a fun blast you will most likely enjoy for a few sessions.
