Game Overview
Most flying bugs are annoying, but while your regular household fly will zip around your face, land on you, and generally come across as if they are purposely trying to taunt you into flailing your arms around in frustration, at least they cannot sting you. That is why, for me, the bees are the worst of them all. Sit in a pub garden, and they’ll fly around your pint, buzz around your ears, and generally ruin what was previously a lovely afternoon in the sun – and there’s not much you can do to stop them unless you want a stinger sat firmly in your cheek. Why am I hating on bees I hear you say, well, the Push Gaming Wild Swarm slot is themed on thousands of the fudgers. If there’s even such a thing, at least they look the friendly kind in this 5×4 slot featuring 20 paylines, a 97.03% RTP, high variance, and a 3,050x max win.
Regardless of your opinion on these buzzing menaces, Wild Swarm is a slot that has proved hugely popular for the provider. So much so that the developer has since released a sequel, Wild Swarm 2. A big reason for that popularity is why so many other Push Gaming slots have enjoyed similar success; there are many lucrative bonus features to enjoy. There are two wild symbols, one of which remains sticky on the reels and can even evolve into expanding or roaming wilds, two free spins bonus games, and a pick-me feature that could trigger either of those bonuses or deliver an instant prize worth up to 250x your stake.
As mentioned, Wild Swarm is one of Push Gaming’s better slots, so there’s no reason not to consider a few spins on the Wild Swarm demoslot below. You’ll benefit by learning about all the features before risking money on the real version.
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
You might not have thought it, but Bumble Bees have become the theme of several good slot games over the years. The first to enter my head, simply because I enjoy spinning away on progressive jackpot slots, is Relax Gaming’s Beelionaires Dream Drop. Aside from giving you the chance to win life-changing sums of money, that slot also features two bonus rounds, a bit like this one. Other slots that have caused a buzz here on our platform are the Honey Rush slot demo from Play’n Go and 3 Buzzing Wilds from Pragmatic Play.
While those titles are good alternatives, they’re not quite the bee’s knees. That’s a title I’m hoping we can give to Wild Swarm by the end of this review, although much of that will depend on the bonus features and the paytable. It’s the latter I’ll bring attention to first, and, to be honest, there’s nothing overly spectacular here. The Dollar symbol tops the charts with 30x the stake rewarded when a five-symbol combo is created. The Queen Bee is next up with a max payout of 15x, and the Jar of Honey returns a maximum of 10x. The two Flower symbols share a 7x the stake reward, leaving us just the playing cards to get through. Five Ace symbols on a payline return 3x, while the King and Queen have the same max win of 2.5x, and last but not least, the Jack can deliver prizes of up to 2x the stake.
To finish off this section, we end with the staking options available on Wild Swarm. These begin at a budget-friendly €0.20 a spin and finally max out at a whopping €100 a press.
Wild Swarm Slot Base Game & Modifiers
The Wild Swarm slot comprises 5 reels and 4 rows, which feature 20 fixed paylines. During the base game, payouts come when at least three matching symbols land across a payline, starting from the leftmost reel and moving right.
Wilds
There are two types of wild symbols on the Wild Swarm slot:
- Regular Wilds: Can land in all game modes and will substitute for all regular-paying symbols.
- Sticky Wild Symbols: These only appear during the two free spins bonus games and remain sticky on the reels until the respective feature ends.
Pick Me Feature
Each time the Chest symbol lands during the base game or either of the bonus games, you’re in for a treat of some kind. You’ll receive a pick of five chests containing random instant prizes. What you can receive depends on the mode in which the feature is triggered.
- Base Game: Chests can reveal bet multipliers between 2x and 250x or will trigger one of the two free spin bonus games.
- Bonus Games: During either free spins bonus game, if a Chest symbol lands, you can win an additional 1, 2, or 5 free spins or enhance all the sticky wilds. The latter could turn the wilds into roaming wild symbols that move one position left on each spin or into expanding wilds.
Wild Swarm Slot Bonus Features
As further evidence, this slot is swarming with features; there are two free spin bonus games. However, there’s hardly any difference between the two, aside from how they trigger and the number of free spins you receive.
Free Spins Feature
The main free spins bonus game can be activated in one of two ways. The first involves landing at least three Hive scatter symbols simultaneously on the reels during a base game spin. You’ll receive 7, 10, and 15 free spins for 3, 4, or 5 scatters, respectively. The second is via the Pick Feature Bonus, giving you 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 12 free spins.
Collectable Bees & Swarm Mode
While the Swarm Mode Free Spins game plays out the same as the above bonus, triggering it does not require a single lucky spin delivering a set number of scatter symbols. Instead, you can build up a chance of this feature during regular base game spins. When Bee symbols land, they fly into a hive, nesting above the reels. The position they previously occupied now becomes a wild symbol. Once five levels have been collected, there is a chance the hive will explode, sending a swarm of bees buzzing around the reels and the activation of the Swarm Mode Spins feature. You’ll get 10 free spins, and again, sticky wilds that land will remain on the reels until the feature ends.
Pros
- The main bonus feature has the potential to pay big wins if you can land a good set up.
- Excellent game production.
- Base game top ups are possible through the free spins and mystery boxes.
Cons
- Below average RTP.
- Low maximum win cap of 3,100x.
- The collection aspect may not suit what some players are looking for.
Wild Swarm Slot Review Final Thoughts
Having enjoyed a good couple of hours playing Wild Swarm, I am not surprised this slot is so popular. The production is top quality, the many bonus features combine well and can prove lucrative when luck is on your side, and the game has a high RTP. The only negative is a low max win, but if that bothers you, that's been addressed in the sequel, so you should also check that slot out.
