Slot Overview
Wild North Radiant Skies GO Collect is a low-volatility video slot from Play’n GO, and it’s a sequel to one of the best games ever made. And no, that is NOT up for debate! Of course, Wild North Radiant Skies GO Collect revisits the studio’s classic Wild North theme, adding the GO Collect mechanic and a rotating bonus wheel to trigger a variety of short features, and in this review, you’ll find out whether it stays true enough to the original while embracing modern mechanics to earn a big thumbs up from us, or whether it’s a case of being a sequel that nobody asked for. Let’s dig in!
Theme & Design
The original Wild North game quickly turned into one of Play’n GO’s most successful releases in history, dwarfed, perhaps, only by Reactoonz and Book of Dead.
Like the original, Wild North Radiant Skies GO Collect is set in a frozen northern wilderness, with icy rivers, snow-covered trees, and wildlife roaming beneath shimmering skies. In the base game, the visuals are calm, and it looks utterly fantastic. (We may be biased, but we’re still being honest!)
The presentation is really well-designed, and on the reels, you’ll see some familiar faces – the wolf and reindeer, for example – along with standard playing card values, including 10, jack, queen, king, and ace.

Wild North Radiant Skies Gameplay & Bonus Features
Wild North Radiant Skies GO Collect runs on a 5×4 reel layout with 40 fixed paylines and left-to-right payouts, just like the original. You can stake from €0.10 to €100 per spin, and the slot offers a default RTP of 96.20%, but it can dip as low as 84.2% depending on the operator’s choosing.
Now, the GO Collect mechanic centres around Footprint token overlays that can appear on animal symbols in the base game. When these symbols land, the tokens are collected and added to the Call of the Aurora meter. Collecting tokens increases the chance of triggering the Northern Lights Wheel, which replaces traditional Scatter-based bonus entry.
When the Northern Lights Wheel activates, it awards one of five bonus features, most of which offer you three respins:
- Owl’s Wisdom: Here, oversized Owl symbols make their return. Unlike the original, however, now they can appear either as two 2×2 symbols, OR, a giant 4×4 symbol that covers reels 2-5.
- Savage Bear: Before each Respin, a random multiplier of up to 10x is revealed and then applied against any wins formed.
- Wolves in the Wild: Here, 4 Sticky Wolf Wilds are placed randomly on the reels. Landing any additional Sticky Wolf Wilds awards +1 Respin.
- Wilderness Reindeer: This turns reindeer symbols into expanding reel wilds that shift one reel to the left after each spin. New Reindeers grant extra spins, and one expanding wild is placed at the start of the feature.
- Majestic Fox: This is a “Pick Me Bonus”, played on a 20-tile grid. You can reveal cash prizes or any of four other bonus features. You get to continue picking until you reveal an “X” symbol or until you hit the game’s max win.
Pros
- Very frequent bonus triggers + low volatility.
- Wide variety of bonuses and features.
- Familiar theme/mechanics.
Cons
- We are gutted to say it, but it doesn’t feel like there’s much “point” to the game.
- Bonus rounds are very similar to the original Wild North’s.
- Go Collect mechanic seems... pointless.
Wild North Radiant Skies Slot Review Final Thoughts
Ok, we’ll admit it; maybe we got a LITTLE too excited when we started writing this review. Look, we have very fond memories of the original Wild North, and we were incredibly excited to see Play’n GO pushing out a sequel. Unfortunately, though, in almost every way, this sequel = disappointment.
Yes, Wild North Radiant Skies GO Collect looks good; it’s calming, easy to play, and relaxing. However, there are just so many “negatives” that we can’t ignore. Firstly - the GO Collect mechanic: what exactly is the point of this? When we first saw this mechanic debut in Book of Dead GO Collect, it had real meaning: there were localised jackpots.
In Wild North Radiant Skies GO Collect, however, the token-based mechanics do very little, making it “easier to trigger a bonus”. That’s boring, uninspiring, and, frankly, lazy.
Secondly, we were really hoping for an improved feature set, but Play’n GO has, essentially, kept things the same! Yes, there are some changes with Respin numbers, and finer bonus details, but all in all, it’s basically the same game, just worse.
We’re truly sad to say it, but Wild North Radiant Skies GO Collect isn’t a game we’d choose over the original, and for us, the iconic 2015 release is the winner, every day of the week.
