Game Overview

The name “Wild Frames” conjures up all kinds of images – will this be a snooker inspired game? No, it seems not. Play’N’Go are once again flexing their grid slot skills with another typically high quality grid-based online slot, with a few wilds thrown in for good measure. It’s a cluster pays game, so there are no pay lines or pay ways here – you’ll need to score as many adjacent symbols horizontally and vertically as you can to hit the biggest wins. Speaking of the biggest wins, the maximum hit from a single spin is 5,000x your stake and there is a cap of 7,000x which will end your feature early if you hit it. The RTP is 96.50%.

The secret to Wild Frames is – shock, horror! – the wild frames mechanic. Wild symbols create frames on every position they land on. If there is no win on the current spin, future wilds can upgrade the frames created by previous spins. All of your frames stay inactive until the charger reaches 20 – you can see this in the bottom left of the screen, and you’ll need to win with 20 symbols in order to fill this meter. Sounds impossible? Don’t worry, this is a cascading symbols game that will remove your wins as soon as they occur, so you’ll be filling the meter on a regular basis. Up to six wilds can be randomly added any time you fail to win from a spin.

The logic and mechanics behind Wild Frames take some getting used to, so why not give our free demo slot of Wild Frames a blast? We’ve included it right here on this page for your convenience!

Wild Frames Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Paytable For Wild Frames Slot

The theme of wild frames is a mixture of old school fruit machine inspired symbols mixed with playing card suits and a few extras to make sure that you are aware you are playing a futuristic vision of the genre. The only other game that sprins to mind which uses a similar set of symbols is NetEnt’s Twin Spin, although I have no doubt there are countless more. The graphics are more than adequate for this type of game, although there is nothing particularly special about them – Play’N’Go video slots usually put a little more effort into their appearance than the Wild Frames online slot. That said, it Is pretty – just a little generic. The “wild frames“ announcement lady gives way to an ambient soundtrack which is pleasantly ambient and sits nicely in the background as you spin the wheels.

The paytable is particularly interesting in the Wild Frames video slot. The top “7” symbol pays out 500x your bet should you accumulate 30 of them during a single spin. The diamond symbol halves this down to 250x your stake, whils the star on a green background pays 150x your stake for 30 or more in a single spin. The last of the big paying symbols is the bell, which pays 75x your stake for the same minimum of 30 in a single spin. Payouts drop off extremely quickly if you hit less than 30 symbols – for example, 25 or more “7” symbols pays just 121x your stake. In short, you really do need to hit that maximum of 30 symbols to reach the big payouts in this game.

Betting ranges are typical of Play’N’Go with €0.20 being the minimum bet and €100.00 being the maximum. I’m really not sure if it is necessary to write this every time, but stay away from the ridiculous top end of the spectrum – you will lose your shirt quicker than you can count to ten.

Base Game & Modifiers

Play With 7 Reels, The Cluster Pays Engine, And Win Up To 7,000x Your Bet On Play'n Go's Wild Frames Online Slot

The basic gameplay of the Wild Frames video slot takes place on a 7×7 grid, and you need to achieve a cluster of at least five matching symbols in adjacent positions horizontally or vertically to be awarded a win. Each time you do hit a win, the symbols will explode and be removed from the grid. This process can continue indefinitely until there are no more winning combinations on screen. Non-winning spins have a chance to receive a boost of 4-6 additional wild symbols, although the paytable does not mention what the odds of this happening actually are.

Every wild symbol which lands creates a sticky frame on all of the positions on which they land. If a wild lands on a square that is already a frame position, the frame will be upgraded with a multiplier instead. This sounds great, but the frames remain inactive until you hit the Wild Frames feature.

Charge Meter Feature

Each time you score a win, the symbols which explode and are removed from the grid will be added to the charge meter. If you manage to hit 20 matching symbols you will receive the Transform feature. If the cascading continues, you will be awarded the Wildcard feature at 40 symbols. Finally, make it all the way to 60 and you will receive the shatter feature.

Transform Feature

One of the picture symbols will be selected, and all of the other picture symbols left on screen will transform into the chosen picture symbol. This should result in many more wins coming your way, helping you to reach the next stage of the bonus meter.

Wildcard Feature

Make it this far, and Wild Frames will add between 3 and 6 wild symbols to the screen in random positions – I did not see this feature often, but when it did trigger it seemed to home in on the areas where the wild were most needed. I may have just been lucky, though it did feel as if the added wilds were placed intentionally.

Shatter Feature

Finally, when the meter hits 60 symbols, all of the playing card suit symbols will shatter and new high paying symbols will drop in from the top to replace them. Cross your fingers at this point – there’s a special treat coming if you can manage to hit just a few more winning symbols…

Wild Frames Slot Bonus Feature

Charge The Meter To 80 Points On Wild Frames Video Slot And The Wild Frames Bonus Will Be Activated

The bonus round in Wild Frames video slot is the Wild Frames feature. Nicely done Play’N’Go – originality should be your middle name. Lame dad jokes aside, the Wild Frames feature is where the biggest wins can be found, but you will need to get the meter all the way to 80 symbols in order to take advantage of it.

So, manage a cascade of 80 winning symbols and all those frames you have been collecting will finally come alive! You can even overcharge the meter, if your win keeps on going past 80 symbols – for every additional ten you add to the meter, two extra wild symbols will be added to the screen.

Every symbol that is located in a frame position wil turn into a wild, and your total win will be multiplied by whichever frame has the highest multiplier. I had to see this feature for myself, but it has taken me the best part of the afternoon to achieve it – my total win was 312x my stake… not bad, but not exactly mindblowing either. Still, there is definitely some huge potential here – the only issue is that Play’N’Go have capped the maximum win at 7,000x your stake, so if you reach this number your bonus round will be cut short and you will be unable to make use of any additional combinations which might have fallen if it were not for this slightly unfair “feature”.

Wild Frames Slot Review Final Thoughts

I’ve really enjoyed playing Wild Frames today, but hitting those later features really is extremely difficult. Once you get the meter up to 20, the various transform, wildcard, and shatter features help immensely with getting to the later stages of the charge meter, but it is reaching that initial 20 which proves extremely difficult.

Still, I like grid slots – this isn’t a bad one by any means. But I would much rather play Play’N’Go’s other games such as Rise of Olympus than this one. Give it a try yourself and see what you think!
