Slot Overview

Wild Fox is a five-reel video slot from BGaming, and the game is based around a mediaeval fantasy theme! There’s a lot going on, from Free Spins, a Coin Re-Spin mechanic, and three different fixed jackpots, but is it any good? In this detailed Wild Fox slot review, we’re going to explore just that!

Theme & Design

Wild Fox is set in a light mediaeval fantasy world, and the game has a kind of 3D, Pixar look and feel to it. On the right-hand side of the reels, you’ll see the cheeky fox himself, sitting on a throne and wearing a green suit of armour, and in the backdrop, there’s the top of a castle visible, alongside rolling green hills, meadows, and a mostly clear blue sky!

Animations are smooth and functional, and, like all BGaming releases today, Wild Fox is fully mobile optimised so you can enjoy the action from all of your mobile devices, too. It’s actually quite hard to find a game to compare it to, but we suppose it has some similarities with Castle or Terror. It also gives off a slight Clover Castle vibe, too.

Wild Fox Gameplay & Bonus Features

Wild Fox is played on a five-reel, three-row layout. There are 25 fixed paylines in play at all times. You can bet between €0.25 and €25 per spin, and the game’s default RTP is a bit below-average at 94.98%.

The base game is fairly straightforward, so the first sign of any real feature is when you manage to land three Bonus symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5. Doing so triggers the Free Spins Bonus, and here, you get to choose from two different modes:

  • Giant Crest Spins: Here, the middle three reels are transformed into one giant symbol. You receive 5 Free Spins, and landing Giant Crest symbol in view during the feature awards +3 spins.
  • Highborn Spins: Here, you receive 8 Free Spins, and only middle and high value symbols can land on the reels, plus Coin symbols.

Now, Wild Fox also contains a Coin Respin feature, and this is triggered by landing 6+ Coin symbols anywhere in view during the base game or bonus round. Once triggered, you enter a Hold & Respin-style feature, with 3 re-spins initially.

Here, only Coin symbols can land. Each time one lands, your re-spin counter resets back to 3. If you fill horizontal rows with Coins, you win one of three fixed jackpots, and your re-spins continue until you either fill the screen with Coins, or fail to land any new Coins for three consecutive spins.

Bonus Buy & Chance x2.5

Wild Fox includes two Bonus Buy options. You can pay 48x for instant entry into the Free Spins Bonus and 40x for entry into the Coin Respin feature.

An Ante Bet option is also available, allowing you to increase the trigger chance of specific features. Activating Free Spins Chance x2.5 or Coin Respin Chance x2.5 increases the chance of you landing the selected bonus by 2.5x, at a 32% stake increase. You can enable both at once, too, resulting in a total stake increase of 64%.

Pros

  • Unique theme and pretty good design.
  • Flexible feature access via Bonus Buy/Ante Bet options.
  • Mega Jackpot is worth 1,000x.

Cons

  • RTP of 94.98% is below the industry average.
  • Fairly limited maximum win potential we feel.
  • VERY similar to Wolf Gold, a very old Pragmatic Play slot.

Wild Fox Slot Review Final Thoughts

Wild Fox is, at first glance, a semi-decent slot; the graphics are pretty good, there are two relatively easy-to-trigger features, and there are jackpots, Bonus Buy/Ante Bet options, and more.

Unfortunately, when you look under the hood, things become a little less impressive. Firstly, it’s basically a clone of Wolf Gold, an early Pragmatic Play release that was one of the first games to feature the giant 3x3 symbols during the free spins + a pretty low-variance Respin feature. Wild Fox hasn’t really added anything new, besides the Bonus Buy/Ante Bet options.

Still, there’s nothing inherently wrong with cloning a game; it’s something pretty much every software provider in the world does, and we don’t fault BGaming for doing so. We just wish they’d have shown a little more originality, especially in 2025. Wolf Gold was a solid release back in its day, but today, most players are looking for higher variance games with more win potential; Wild Fox doesn’t appear to offer that.

However, it’s not the worst game in the world, and for players wanting simple, straightforward, and feature-regular slotting, Wild Fox may not be the worst shout in the world. Just be aware of the below-average RTP, and know what the game is capable of, and what it isn’t capable of!
