Slot Overview

Wheel of Happiness is a new release from Pragmatic Play, and despite the cheerful, Asian-prosperity-inspired theme, it’s actually a pretty high variance slot with tumbling reels, multiplier wilds, and a bonus round determined by spinning a giant prize wheel! With a maximum win potential of up to 4,000x, it doesn’t offer the most potential, but should you check it out? Let’s find out!

Theme & Design

Wheel of Happiness looks like one of Pragmatic Play’s softer, more playful releases; it uses bright colours and cartoon-style symbols, and everything is designed around a Chinese prosperity theme.

Above the reels you’ll see the game’s moving Prize Wheel, and here, you can see the game’s different bonuses and features. Also, interestingly, in the background you can see a purple backdrop which is also moving, in an opposite direction to the main prize wheel. It looks quite cool, but we imagine it may get slightly disorienting over longer sessions.

Visually, it’s nothing we haven’t seen a thousand times before. There are signs of 88 Fortunes Megaways here, along with tonnes of other similarly themed slots, like Prosperity Lion, for example. Still, Pragmatic Play’s approach is slick, clean and smart, and the game looks decent enough.

Wheel of Happiness Gameplay & Bonus Features

Wheel of Happiness plays on a five-reel, three-row layout with 243 ways to win. You can bet between €0.20 and €360 per spin, and the game has several RTP configurations, with the default set at 96.47%.

Any win triggers the Tumble mechanic, and here, winning symbols disappear. New ones then drop down to take their place, and this process continues for as long as new wins are formed.

Now, the game revolves primarily around two central mechanics: free spins and random awards. Landing 3 Scatter symbols triggers a Random Award from the Prize Wheel, and there are four possible outcomes here:

  • Wild Wins: A new spin is awarded with added Wilds and a guaranteed win.
  • Wild Wins+: A new spin is awarded with added Wilds and a guaranteed win plus a random multiplier of up to 10x.
  • Free Spins: Awards the standard free spins bonus with up to 25 free games.
  • Free Spins+: Awards the super free spins bonus with up to 25 free games and a multiplier of up to 10x applied to all wins.

Now, during both free spins modes, the Prize Wheel becomes even more important. Every time you re-trigger the feature, you are awarded between 3 and 20 additional spins, and another random multiplier of up to 5x is added on top of any existing ones. You can also be awarded Wild Wins and Wild Wins+.

Bonus Buy & Ante Bet

Wheel of Happiness contains one Bonus Buy and one Ante Bet option. The Bonus Buy costs 70x and awards instant entry into the free spins. The Ante Bet increases your bet by 50% and doubles the chance of landing Scatter symbols.

Pros

  • Good variety of tumbles, multipliers, random awards, and bonus wheels.
  • It is possible to re-trigger the free spins many times.
  • Clean visuals and smooth gameplay.

Cons

  • Max win is a bit low at just 4,000x.
  • The theme is VERY familiar and lacks originality.
  • “Random Awards” actually require you to land Scatter symbols

Wheel of Happiness Slot Review Final Thoughts

Wheel of Happiness is classic Pragmatic Play, and although we’ve seen this exact theme a thousand times before, the studio has managed to pull it off pretty well. Visually, it’s smart, clean, and well-rendered, and everything works the way it’s supposed to.

We also like the fact that Wheel of Happiness has a decent amount of bonus action. The combination of tumbles, Random Awards, and Free Spins ensures there’s plenty of action to be on the lookout for, and thanks to the multipliers during the free spins, there’s some surprisingly good win potential, too!

Unfortunately, the low maximum win potential of just 4,000x is going to be quite limiting for some players. We don’t know why Pragmatic Play would choose to cap a game this low, especially when the whole point of the gameplay is building up large multipliers, which, often, will prove to be pointless if you ever manage to get them high enough.

Still, Wheel of Happiness isn’t the worst game in the world, and it’s actually pretty fun to play. Just don’t expect to hit mammoth wins, and know the limitations of the game before you load it up!
