Game Overview
At last! The previous two releases from Nolimit City were pushed out back-to-back a few weeks ago, which resulted in a long delay before this game was published by the developer. I’ve been eagerly checking in a couple of times a day in the hope of being the first to get my hands on Walk of Shame, and it’s finally here – let’s hope that it turns out to be worth the wait! The game has fewer payways than the last few Nolimit City games at ‘just’ 768, whilst the RTP ranges between 96.04% and 96.45%, depending on the game mode used. Nolimit City states on the paytable that they hit a top win of 9,822x the bet during a four million round simulation, and the developer has then decided to cap all future wins at this same bet multiple.
Walk of Shame is a relatively simple online slot compared to the studio’s typical output, with only a single ‘Loaded Wild’ feature available to spice up the base game action. There are two different types of scatter symbols; Invitation scatters are the main variant and are responsible for triggering the One More!! Bonus feature. Meanwhile, the Mr E scatter only shows up on a single reel and must land with the Invitation scatters to trigger the enhanced All-Nighter bonus round. The Mr E scatter can also initiate a Walk of Shame re-spin when it appears simultaneously as a Loaded Wild symbol. The One More!! And All-Nighter bonuses can both be purchased via the Nolimit Bonus Buy facility.
Let me paint a picture, – You wake up… it’s 1 PM. Your Throat’s on fire. Eight missed calls from your boss. Glass shards in your hair. Your ride’s trashed, and who the hell is that girl in your bed? It’s inevitable: it’s time for the Walk of Shame demo slot!
Walk Of Shame Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
In an online slots market that is rapidly becoming overrun by endless remakes of existing slots and overmilked franchises, such as Big Bass Bonanza, or even Megaways, the games that Nolimit City publishes can truly feel like a breath of fresh air. The developer focuses strongly on mature themes, and I’m sure most of us can relate to the concept behind ‘Walk of Shame’! On the other hand, the symbols in this game are supposed to relate to a house party of some kind, but I can honestly say that they do not remind me of any party I can remember attending. That being said, perhaps the word ‘remember’ is the key verb in that sentence!
Moving on, four high-paying character symbols are at the top of the paytable, but why are they all male?! We’ve got a relatively normal-looking guy (aside from his dead-eyed expression!) who has a payout of 5x your bet for a full payway, followed by a somewhat disturbed individual wearing a green wig and has a return of 2.5x for five-of-a-kind. Finally, the err… purple guy wearing bunny ears and a ball gag (!!!) will pay you 2x your bet for all five symbols, whilst the sorry-looking dude with a black eye has the lowest return at 1.5x your bet for a complete pay way. The low-paying symbols are all represented by empty drink glasses – how appropriate! – These will award between 1x and 1.25x the total bet whenever all five appear on a pay way.
Nolimit City has thankfully yet to fall into the trap of offering very limited wagering options within their games! This means you shouldn’t have any problems finding a bet level to suit you in Walk of Shame. The minimum/maximum limits are pegged at €0.20 and €100.00, respectively, and there are 23 other possible bets between the two extremes.
Base Game & Modifiers
The unusual total of 768 payways is the result of the equally unique 3-4-4-4-4 reel setup used within the base game of Walk of Shame. Other than the first reel missing a single row, however, the base game works exactly as you might expect from a typical ways-based online slot. All nine symbols featured on the paytable require at least three matches on adjacent reels starting from the left to award a win.
Loaded Wilds
If a stack of high-paying character symbols lands on reels two through five, the entire reel will be converted into a stack of ‘loaded wilds’. Loaded wild symbols have a 4x multiplier that is applied to all winning combinations that pass through them.
Walk Of Shame Slot Bonus Features
The main scatter symbol is the so-called Invitation scatter; however, this confusingly has the text ‘Mr. E’ written on it. Why is this confusing? Because the other scatter is the Mr E scatter! Perhaps this is only an issue when writing about Walk of Shame, but it still feels a little bit awkward to me!
Three invitation scatters will award 10 spins in the One More! feature, whilst four invitation scatters ups this to 15 free spins. If you manage to hit three invitations simultaneously as a Mr E scatter, this will award 10 all-nighter free spins. Once again, four invitations plus a single Mr E scatter will increase this to 15 all-nighter free spins.
One More Free Spins
I was a little underwhelmed by this feature – the only real enhancement is that each Loaded Wild that lands on the reels will increase the current round multiplier by 1. During my game testing, I struggled to get this multiplier up to anything even remotely impressive.
If you hit a single MR. E scatter while this mode is active, your remaining free spins will be transferred to the All-Nighter feature, and three more spins will be added to your remaining total.
One invitation scatter landing on the reels will award a single additional free spin, whilst two, three, or four invitations will add three, five, or seven extra spins, respectively.
All Nighter Free Spins
This is the real bonus round, in my opinion, as it adds several more special features on top of those offered by the One More! bonus round. Every loaded wild landing on the reels will still increase your current round multiplier by 1x, but there is now a 50/50 chance that the Walk of Shame feature will also trigger!
Even better, the Mr E scatter symbol that triggered the feature will become sticky at the beginning of this feature and now acts as an xSplit symbol for the duration of the bonus round.
One invitation scatter landing on the reels will award a single additional free spin, whilst two, three, or four invitations will add three, five, or seven extra spins, respectively.
Bonus Buy
If permitted within your country or jurisdiction, the bonus buy facility allows you to purchase either of the main bonus rounds directly. There is also a 75/25 random option, which, as the name suggests, gives you a 75% chance of hitting the lesser feature and a 25% chance of triggering the more valuable one.
- One More!! Bonus: 69x Current Stake
- All-Nighter Bonus: 314x Current Stake
- 75%25% Random Bonus: 131x Current Stake
