Slot Overview

ValhalLuck is a Norse-themed video slot from Play’n GO, and the game combines a 5×5 grid layout with 25 fixed paylines, Gold Coin Respins, Mega Free Spins, and a maximum win potential of just 3,000x. There’s a lot going on, but is the max win a little too low to make this worth playing? Find out in this comprehensive ValhalLuck slot review.

Theme & Design

Valhalla is hardly a new theme, and it’s one that’s proven fairly consistently popular with players in the online gambling world. Titles like Valhalla Saga, from Jelly, and Gates of Valhalla, from Pragmatic Play, continue to attract players. ValhalLuck uses the same familiar-looking theme, WITHOUT the game being set in a mythic Nordic setting.

The reels are framed in glowing gold with subtle runic patterns, and the backdrop makes it look as though you’re inside a casino, so it’s not really what you’d expect. Still, it looks OK, and the game’s symbols include classic fruit machine icons like Fruits, BARs, and 7s, along with Viking characters and some Dice, Clovers, and Gold Coins.

ValhalLuck Gameplay & Bonus Features

ValhalLuck is played on a 5×5 grid layout. The game has 25 fixed paylines in play at all times. Wins are paid from left to right, and you can bet from €0.05 to €100 per spin. The game carries a 96% RTP, making it dead-on average.

The core gameplay mechanic focuses around Gold Coins, and these trigger a dedicated Respin feature when 6+ appear in view. Once activated, you receive 3 Respins, with all triggering Gold Coins locking in place. Each newly landed Coin resets the re-spin counter back to three. The Coins themselves display fixed multipliers, which are paid out when the feature ends.

Now, during Gold Coin Respins, a Collect symbol can land, too. When it does, it instantly awards the total value of all locked Gold Coins, before disappearing before the next Respin.

Like most Respin features today, you simply keep spinning until you fail to land any new Coin symbols for 3 consecutive spins, or until you fill the grid. If you land a Gold Coin on every position, the Golden prize of 1,000x is awarded, on top of any accumulated coin values.

Finally, ValhalLuck has a Mega Free Spins round. This is triggered by landing 3 Scatter symbols in view, and doing so awards you with 5 free games. During this feature, a Mega Symbol appears on each spin, a 3×3 giant, and the position of this symbol moves every spin. If the Mega Symbol reveals a Mega Gold Coin, it breaks into nine individual Gold Coins and triggers the Respin feature inside the Mega Free Spins.

Pros

  • Clear, well-structured bonus mechanics.
  • Gold Coin Respins are quite exciting.
  • Medium volatility suits longer, feature-hunting sessions.

Cons

  • Full-grid Golden Prize is very rare.
  • Collect symbol doesn’t persist in the bonus.
  • Max win of 3,000x is pretty low.

ValhalLuck Slot Review Final Thoughts

ValhalLuck is a well-designed slot that focuses on controlled action rather than constant features, and this fits its medium volatility profile quite well, we feel. We like how the minimum bet is just €0.05, as this opens the action up to pretty much all bankrolls. The Gold Coin Respins are exciting, especially when multipliers begin to stack, and the mechanics are easy to understand, too, suiting the game to casual/new players.

For us, though, the game’s real strength is in how its features interact with one another. Gold Coin Respins, Collect Symbols, and Mega Free Spins can all overlap in quite satisfying ways, and this is especially true when Mega Coins appear in the bonus. These “action moments”, however, are somewhat overshadowed by a lot of quiet base game play, but that’s the tradeoff you have to accept, we guess.

There’s also no escaping the very low maximum win potential of just 3,000x. This doesn’t really live up to the preferences/standards we see today, and while it may not be of bother to casual players, serious slots fans may well see this as a deciding factor in their decision to play or not play the game. Still, ValhaLuck is decent enough, just know what its limitations are before loading it up!
