Slot Overview
Ultra Ace is a high-volatility cascading slot from Playtech, offering 1,024 ways to win across a 5×4 grid and a top prize of up to 10,000x your stake. With a Cascade Multiplier Trail, Golden Symbols that transform into Wilds, and dual Scatter mechanics that influence Free Games multipliers, this playing-card-style slot looks to offer impressive depth – but is it any good? Let’s find out.
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Ultra Ace is played on a 5-reel, 4-row layout with 1,024 ways to win. Wins are paid from left to right. You can bet from €0.10 to €500 per spin, and the game’s RTP is set at 96.95%, healthily above the current industry average. Any win triggers the Cascading Reels feature, and after each winning combination, the symbols involved with the win disappear, allowing new symbols to fall into place.
Each successive cascade increases the Cascade Multiplier Trail, which begins at 1x and goes 2x, 3x, and 5x – in the base game. You will also notice Golden Symbols, which land only on reels 2, 3 and 4. When part of a winning combination, they transform into Wilds for the next cascade.
The game’s main Free Spins bonus is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatter symbols, awarding 10, 12 or 14 free spins respectively. Two Scatter types influence the Cascade Multiplier Trail during Free Games. If triggered solely by red Scatters, the multiplier ladder doubles compared to the base game, whereas if black Scatters land, the multipliers can increase up to 13x.
A Symbol Upgrade feature can also randomly trigger in the base game, adding Golden Symbols to reels 2, 3 or 4, turning the entire middle reel golden for a spin, or upgrading a red Scatter into a black Scatter.

Theme & Design
Ultra Ace is designed around a sleek, casino-card theme, and it kind of looks like a poker game, too. On the left-hand side of the reels you’ll see an animated female character, and the backdrop is green, designed to look like the felt you’d see on a poker table or casino table game in a land-based casino.
Now, if you’re used to playing some of Playtech’s recent releases, think along the lines of King’s Mystery or Bubblegum Burst, you may find Ultra Ace a little basic – but it does play well, and animations/graphics are smooth.
Pros
- Win up to 10,000x your bet.
- Unique cascade multiplier mechanic + Golden Symbols.
- Huge variety of bet levels.
Cons
- Highly volatile, especially during the bonuses.
- Most of the win potential is locked inside the enhanced Free Spins.
- Multipliers can only reach 5x in the base game.
Final Thoughts
Ultra Ace isn’t the most modern-looking game in the world, that’s for sure. What Playtech has done here, however, is quite nice, and we love the way the game plays. It brings together lots of different mechanics (like the multiplier trail from Gonzo’s Quest, if you’re a sharp observer) and puts them in a slightly unconventional end product.
The Golden Symbol mechanic integrates smoothly with the Cascade Multiplier Trail. While there is some win potential in the base game, most of the big hits will come from the bonus rounds, especially when you trigger the feature with 2+ black Scatters. Yes, it’s volatile, but that’s to be expected from a game that offers a maximum win potential of 10,000x, so if you want something low-variance, you’re probably better off choosing something else.
For us, though, Ultra Ace is a nifty little game. If you enjoy cascade-driven gameplay with increasing multipliers and are comfortable chasing larger but less frequent big wins, then it’s a solid high-risk, high-reward game to check out.
