Game Overview
The trend for new three-reel slot continues today as Thunderkick throws their hat into the ring with the slot Triple Royal Gold. This is a fantastic looking game that has the appearance of a classic slot, right down to simulated physical reel strips and buttons. Despite its old school roots, this game uses the much more modern pay ways payout mechanic, meaning the 3×3 reel layout has 27 pay ways. The game has a 96.12% and a maximum win of 5000x per round.
Three-reel games regularly suffer from a lack of exciting features, but I would have been genuinely shocked if Thunderkick had fallen into that trap and released a game with very little to do. The game uses the cascading/rolling reels mechanic, which Thunderkick labels “Avalanches”, which is very unusual for a three-reel game. A bonus game is also included, triggered by landing all five B-O-N-U-S tokens during a single paid spin.

Triple Royal Gold Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Three-reel slots have seriously become a trend in recent months. One of the best of the bunch I have played was Hacksaw’s Break Bones, but I’d also recommend Buffalo Win Infinity Reels if these games appeal to you. What’s truly fascinating about this trend is that developers are trying to differentiate their attempts at the three-reel format, meaning that all of these games look, feel, and play very differently. Thunderkick’s contribution here must be one of the best looking I have seen, and there’s an interesting dichotomy between the classic three-reel slot appearance and the way the game plays. Give it a try; you’ll soon see exactly what I mean!
Like we always say here at Demoslot, it isn’t about how a slot machine looks – the payouts separate the professionals from the amateurs here, so how does Triple Royal Gold stack up in this regard? The crown is the highest-paying symbol and has a return of 5x your bet for a full payway of three-of-a-kind, and also has a payout of 1x your stake for just two symbols, unlike every other symbol on the paytable, which requires a complete set of three. The lucky seven is next with a payout of 2.5x for all three symbols, followed by a bar sign at 2x, a bell at 1.5x, and finally, a horseshoe worth 1x your bet for all three symbols. Another interesting aspect of this game is that those five symbols make up the entirety of the paytable. There are no low-paying royals, just these five symbols plus the five bonus tokens for triggering the bonus game.
The betting range starts at €0.10 per spin, which is common to most Thunderkicks slots, whilst the maximum permitted wager is a chunky €100.00 per spin. These limits are fine, I guess, although I can’t imagine many players wanting to spin at the higher levels of the range – however, the number of intervals between these two extremes is very small, which may disappoint some players.
Base Game & Modifiers
I got a bit of a surprise once I began to play the base game for the first time. As we’ve already mentioned, the game uses a three reel, three row layout with 27 payways, and almost all winning combinations require a full payway of three symbols to earn yourself some winnings.
Something that I failed to understand initially after reading the paytable was how the bonus game is triggered – I was under the impression that you needed to collect all five bonus tokens. However, this is not the case. Instead, you’ll need to land a full pay way for all three of the five tokens before the bonus game will trigger.
I hit plenty of smaller wins along the way as I was trying to hit my first bonus round, but it took me a long time – and more than 250 bets – before I eventually managed to trigger my first bonus.
Stacked Wild Feature
Occasionally, a full stack of diamond wild symbols will drop into view on the reels. I’m not sure if this is a random event that the game awards you as a kind of modifier or if it is just a natural thing which can happen due to these symbols being stacked on the reel strips, but either way, it doesn’t happen often. When it does, you are very likely to win a couple of times, but it doesn’t seem to make it any easier to trigger a bonus round.
Triple Royal Gold Slot Bonus Features
When you finally get lucky and hit a full pay way of each of the B-O-N-U-S symbols on a single paid spin, the game will take you to the bonus round, where eight free spins are yours.
Free Spins
During this mode, the game features multiple extra features that make it much easier to score big wins. First of all, every winning combination of a specific symbol will light up the corresponding symbol in the area below the reels. If you achieve a winning combination of all five symbols, the game will increase your multiplier to the next stage (1x, 3x, 9x, 27x) and add two additional free spins to your remaining counter.
The bonus symbols are also removed from the reel strips during this mode, making it much easier to hit winning pay line combinations. I managed to reach the 9x multiplier several times during this mode and made a substantial profit on top of the cost of purchasing the bonus when I used that facility several times as well. The bonus game is much more fun than the regular game, so it’s a shame it is so difficult to trigger.
Bonus Buy
For a cost of 120x the regular price per spin, you can opt to bypass the base game if this is permitted within your jurisdiction. I’d definitely use this function if you can, as I came out with a profit on most occasions where I tried using it.
Triple Royal Gold Slot Review Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed Hacksaw’s attempt at the three-reel genre, but Thunderkick’s Triple Royal Gold is even better – even if you don’t usually go for three-reel games, this one is well worth a try.
