Game Overview
Slot provider Push Gaming brings Halloween spirit right to your screen in Tricky Treats, a vibrant cluster-paying slot that mixes cute visuals with some serious volatility! With a 6×9 grid, a 10,000x max win, and a huge selection of bonuses and features, is this a game worth checking out? Find out in this detailed review.
Theme & Design
We love Halloween slots, and even after hundreds of haunted reels, we still get excited when new ones drop, especially when they actually look good. Push Gaming has always been able to hit that sweet spot between spooky and adorable, and Tricky Treats is another example of what the software provider is capable of producing.
The game grid itself is set atop what looks to be a haunted fairground, with grinning pumpkins and Ferris wheels visible in the backdrop. It’s easy to see similarities to Retro Tapes and Retro Sweets, and it is almost a clone.

Tricky Treats Gameplay & Features
Tricky Treats is played on a 6×9 grid using the Cluster Pays mechanic, where wins are formed by landing 5 or more matching symbols horizontally or vertically. The game boasts a high variance math model, and the RTP comes in at slightly above average at 96.32%. You can bet between €0.10 and €100 per spin, too.
Now, every win triggers the Avalanche mechanic, removing winning clusters and allowing new symbols to drop down. This process continues as long as new winning combos are formed!
Pumpkin Wilds substitute for all standard symbols and begin with a x1 multiplier, increasing by +x1 each time they’re part of a winning cluster. Additional Wild Multipliers can appear across the grid, revealing values between x1 and x5 before transforming into Instant Prize symbols worth between 1x and 1,000x your bet!
Now, it’s these Instant Prize symbols that are key to the game, and when five or more land in a cluster, their combined values are awarded as cash prizes! Plus, if you land an Instant Prize Multiplier symbol, all visible Instant Prizes are boosted by 2x, 5x, or 10x!
You will also see a Collector symbol. When it lands, it pulls all matching symbols (four or more) from around the grid to form a new winning cluster before transforming into either that symbol or an Instant Prize worth up to 1,000x.
The game’s main bonus round is a free spins feature, triggered by landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 Pumpkin Wilds anywhere in view. Doing so awards you with 6, 8, 10, or 12 free spins, respectively. All Pumpkin Wilds and Instant Prize symbols from the base game carry over, and during the bonus, each cell position can only reveal Wilds, Multipliers, Instant Prizes, Collectors, or Extra Spins.
Once the bonus round is finished, every cluster that has connected to one of the Pumpkin Wilds has its value multiplied before being paid out!
Push Bet & Bonus Buy
Like all the other games in the series, Tricky Treats also contains a Push Bet and Bonus Buy. The Push Bet 1 increases your stake by 100% but guarantees at least one Pumpkin Wild on every spin. The Push Bet 2 increases your stake by 300% but guarantees two Pumpkin Wilds on every spin.
If you want to buy direct entry into the main bonus round, you can pay 120x for the standard free spins or 400x for the Super free spins, which include a mystery wild multiplier.
Pros
- Features a max win of 10,000x.
- Very spooky and colourful theme, perfect for Halloween.
Cons
- Very similar to Retro Tapes/Sweets.
- Highly volatile.
Tricky Treats Slot Review Final Thoughts
Tricky Treats is another solid release from Push Gaming, and while it doesn’t offer much difference compared to its predecessors, the theme is pulled off really well, and it’s a lot of fun to play! The volatility model has, apparently, been changed slightly, but the game’s maximum win potential is still 10,000x, which is the same as Retro Tapes and Retro Sweets.
It’s a great game, and we also like Push Bet 2, as, despite costing a lot, it really does make it much easier to trigger the main free spins bonus round without having to use the bonus buy! Just be aware that the Push Bet and the Bonus Buy mechanic aren’t available in all regions.
