There’s not much to the base game of Towering Fortunes – the game uses a standard 5×3 playfield, 20 fixed paylines, and a minimum of three matching symbols are needed to receive a share of the booty available in this game. The wild symbols do not show up very often, so I’m doubtful that you will be seeing too many of those high-paying 250x pay lines, but you never know your luck.

Mystery Symbols

The mystery symbol is shaped like a briefcase with a question mark emblazoned on it, and these symbols do show up with relative frequency. At the end of a spin where one or more mystery symbols are visible on the reels, all of the mystery symbols will transform into the same symbol, which is chosen at random from the nine regular symbols available on the paytable. It’s possible that the mystery symbol could also transform into wilds, too, although I never witnessed this whilst I was testing the game.

The MONEY symbol looks like a tower block and has a random prize label attached to it each time it appears on the reels. You’ll need to catch three of these on a single spin to trigger the hold and spin feature. Note that the values shown on the money symbols are not used in the base game.

Hold & Spin Feature

When this feature starts, the regular reels will fade away and be replaced by a new 11×5 grid of possible outcomes. The money symbols that triggered the feature will move to the bottom of this new grid, and the bonus round will begin.

The reels in this mode feature only blanks and money symbols. After each spin, any money symbols that land will drop to the bottom of the reels and land on top of any existing money symbols. Each reel has three lives; if no new money symbols land on a reel for three consecutive re-spins, that reel will be blocked, and any further re-spins will not include that reel.

On top of each of the five reels, there is a multiplier which will increase as the stack of money symbols on that reel grows. The multiplier for each reel will increase according to the number of money symbols accumulated on that reel, up to a maximum of 100x.

Once all five reels have been blocked, the feature ends, and the total value of all money symbols on each reel will be multiplied by the multiplier shown at the top of that reel. These amounts are then added together to form your final reward for the bonus round.

I thought this game would be another cookie-cutter three-spin type slot, but the bonus round plays very differently to other games of this type, making it much more interesting than I expected. I didn’t manage to hit any particularly impressive winnings during my testing, but the maximum win of over 6,000x your bet is a prize worth playing for. Recommended!
