Game Overview
Totem Poles is Kitsune Studio’s latest release, and this highly unique slot is designed around a 3×3 layout. While it may look simple, gameplay is anything but, and you can look forward to stacked symbols, multiplier wheels, free spins, and a maximum win potential of up to 10,000x!
Theme & Design
Native American-inspired slots have always done pretty well, but we’ve started to see less of them in recent years. This could be due to a changing political landscape (for some, Native American themed slots are a bit controversial), or it could be the fact that software providers are choosing to embrace new themes.
Regardless, Totem Poles is unashamedly Native American, and despite the small 3×3 layout, there’s clearly been a lot of thought put into the game. On the right-hand side of the reels you’ll see a stunning Native American woman, complete with headdress, and in the background there are cacti, mountains, and even dead animal skulls!
Sure, it may be slightly stereotypical, but we feel Kitsune Studios has designed Totem Poles with respect in mind. Plus, like all their previous releases, including titles like Cash Cabana and Evil Dozen, Totem Poles is powered by Hacksaw Gaming’s OPENRGS. Don’t be surprised when you load the game and it looks very similar to Hacksaw’s own releases!

Totem Poles Gameplay & Bonus Features
Totem Poles is played on a 3×3 grid. There are 11 paylines in play. The game pays only for 3-symbol wins, which can be formed from left to right. The slot has a 96.27% RTP and is classed as being a medium-to-high variance game. You can wager between €0.10 and €100 per spin.
Now, interestingly, you won’t see any wild or scatter symbols on the reels; everything revolves around landing a full stack of symbols, and doing so triggers the Spirit Wheel bonus.
Depending on whether the triggering symbol is a low, or high-value symbol, you’ll be taken to one of two wheels. Here, you can see multipliers of between 2x and 200x, along with the chance to land the game’s max win directly, which is 10,000x.
The Spirit Wheel can also land on, and launch, two bonus rounds: Odoodem Spins or Super Odoodem Spins. Odoodem Spins awards you with 10 free spins where only blanks or the triggering symbol appear. A multiplier trail sits above the reels, starting at 1x, and this increases by +1x after each win.
Every time you form a win, you also receive an additional re-spin. Now, if you don’t hit a win, the multiplier reverts back to its last-used value. You can also land stacked symbols during the bonus to trigger the Spirit Wheel again!
Super Odoodem Spins follow the same structure but with an upgraded multiplier mechanic. The multiplier trail begins at 5x, and each time you form a win, it increases by +2x. If you trigger the Spirit Wheel inside Super Odoodem Spins, the multiplier boosts and additional free spin numbers are also higher, too.
Bonus Buy
Totem Poles allows you to play BonusHunt Spins, which increases your stake by 3x but makes it 5x more likely that you’ll trigger the bonus round naturally. You can also pay 50x, 100x, or 250x to instantly trigger the Spirit Wheel, Odoodem Spins, or the Super Odoodem Spins, respectively.
Pros
- Win up to 10,000x.
- You can hit massive multipliers in the Odoodem and Super Odoodem Spin.
- Unique take on the classic 3x3 layout.
Cons
- The theme is quite stereotypical.
- The 3x3 layout won’t appeal to all players.
- Bonus buy options aren’t available in all regions.
Totem Poles Slot Review Final Thoughts
Totem Poles is one of Kitsune Studios’ most interesting releases. Again, the provider continues to surprise us. For most new game developers, we really are used to seeing breakthrough mechanics, innovative features, and “stand out” designs, it’s a common approach to try and gain attention.
Kitsune Studios, on the other hand, appear far happier to take existing, well-loved mechanics and give them a slight facelift. Totem Poles is a good example of that strategy in action, and it’s simple in structure, yes, but surprisingly deep in its feature design.
We really like the stacked-reel triggering system. Once the Spirit Wheel is activated, the game quickly gets pretty intense with lots of different awards/modifiers available. Both free spins bonuses are decent, if a little short. The maximum win potential of 10,000x is a nice touch, too, so Totem Poles gets a thumbs up from us!
