Slot Overview
Tombstone Begins is a Western-themed slot game from Nolimit City where a respin mechanic is the headline feature, potentially producing wins of up to 20,000x the bet.
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Played over a 4x5x5x5x4 reel configuration, Tombstone Begins comes with 22 fixed paylines, awarding payouts for winning combos created from left to right. Staking options begin from €0.20 up to €100, with the game offering a standard RTP of 96.02%
Any time you land a win during the gameplay, those symbols don’t disappear straight away. Instead, they lock in place along with every matching symbol of that type on the reels. You then get a respin, and if anything new sticks, you get another one. This will continue until nothing new lands, which will see the feature end and add any winnings to your bankroll.
Revolvers & Bullets
Revolvers are where the chaos comes from in Tombstone Begins. Each one that drops in has a set number of bullets and fires once per spin. Every shot does something different. Some turn symbols into Wilds, some upgrade them into better-paying symbols, and others add multipliers or trigger the xNudge mechanics.
The xNudge side is where it gets interesting. Hits can trigger nudges on certain reels, and every nudge builds up extra multiplier value. Those multipliers don’t feel huge at first, but once they stack, they can carry a lot of weight.
Unleash & Refill
These two change the pace completely.
Unleash forces every revolver on the screen to fire all of its remaining bullets instantly. If you’ve got a loaded setup, this can flip a quiet spin into something massive in one go. Refill does the opposite. It tops every revolver back up to full bullets, giving them more chances to keep firing across the next few respins.
Bonus Rounds
There are three bonus modes, all quite similar in how they work.
Gunslinger Spins are the base version. You start with a set number of spins, and the key thing here is that your xNudge multipliers don’t reset between spins. That means if you start building them early, they can carry through the whole feature and stack into something meaningful.
Outlaw Spins work the same way, but with one big upgrade. Every revolver that lands comes in fully loaded. More bullets means more shots each spin, which naturally gives you more chances to create wilds, upgrades and multiplier boosts.
Widowmaker Spins take it a step further again. Alongside fully loaded revolvers, every revolver will fire all of its remaining bullets before the spin ends. That means you’re not waiting around for value to build slowly; everything gets used immediately. It’s more volatile, but when it connects properly, it can create much bigger swings.
Boosters & Bonus Buy
You can boost the base game for 2x your bet to guarantee a bonus symbol on reel two, giving you a much better shot at triggering the feature.
If you’re chasing the Revolver mechanics instead, the xNudge Showdown option costs 30x your bet and guarantees a Revolver loaded with xNudge bullets and multipliers. The next step up is Fully Loaded at 190x, which gives you even more of those bullets to work with.
At the top end, Revolver Mayhem costs 999x your bet and drops multiple Revolvers onto the reels at once, including guaranteed xNudge multipliers.
You can also skip straight to the bonuses. Gunslinger Spins cost 70x, Outlaw Spins are 200x, and Widowmaker Spins come in at 600x. There’s also a mixed option at 255x that randomly picks one of the three.

Theme & Design
We’ve seen five other titles in the Tombstone series from Nolimit City so far, including smash hits Tombstone Slaughter and Tombstone R.I.P. Whilst it’s much of the same with regard to the overall theme in Tombstone Begins, it is nowhere near the high standard of those premium titles just mentioned when it comes to the overall production, and this very much has the feeling of a filler slot from Nolimit City, which we see a little more often since they upped the output of their game releases.
Pros
- Player have alot of enhanced betting options to choose from
- A 20,000x max win is attractive
- Part of successful slot series
Cons
- Nowhere near the standard of other games in the series
- The respin mechanic is old and boring
- Feature buy is not available in all jurisdictions
Final Thoughts
In recent years, Nolimit City has opted to create slot sequels and trilogies rather than developing new games, which has led to plenty of success but also a fair share of misses, too.
Unfortunately, Tombstone Begins falls into the miss category for us and doesn't live up to the standard of the releases that have come before it.
