Game Overview
The title ‘Tippy Tavern’ is fairly ambiguous, in my opinion, but it won’t take you long to work out what the real theme of this game is after you finish loading it up for the first time! Snowborn’s latest online slot is a leprechaun-themed machine – more specifically, drunken leprechauns – so who knows how much trouble they might be about to cause?! The game features 20 fixed paylines, a 96.22% RTP, and a maximum jackpot of 7,500x the total bet.
As for the feature set, you’ll want to keep an eye on the game’s fifth and final reel, as that’s where the special leprechaun collect symbols will occasionally be making an appearance. You’ll need to land one of these at the same time as one or more coins on the other four reels before the little fella will go to work. You can further boost your coin winnings with the ‘coin booster’ feature, which has possible multipliers of up to 10x. Elsewhere in the game, there are two main features: a standard free spins bonus and another that Snowborn has nicknamed ‘happy hour’.
Irish slots always seem to be popular with online casino players, so I’d be surprised if this game didn’t also do well – check it out for yourself with our free demo slot of Tippy Tavern, available to play below:
Tippy Tavern Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
We have many titles in our review library dedicated to Irish Slots, and it’s also one of the fastest grown sections of our website. Recent additions to the category include a new Luck o’ The Irish – Big Bonus slot and Leprechaun Heist – a bank robbery-themed game that features three naughty leprechauns in the starring roles! I wouldn’t be surprised if those bank-robbing leprechauns turned out to be the same ones that feature in Tippy Tavern, although I guess that’s probably unlikely, considering that different developers made them. And are fictional creatures. And were, okay, I’ll stop now; I think you get the idea!
Open the paytable, and you’ll see lots of familiar ‘lucky’ imagery – there’s a six-sided die with a return of 20x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind, followed by a harp at 16x, a four-leaved clover at 14x, and a tobacco pipe at 12x. As for the low-paying symbols, these are represented by four different coloured bottle caps; they do have royal letters written on them if you look closely, but it’s much easier to tell them apart by colour alone. The red caps are worth 3.75x for all five symbols, followed by the greens and blues at 2.5x each, and finally, the purples at 1x for a complete pay line. I almost missed the payout for the wilds, as it’s shown on a completely different page to the rest of the symbols – nevertheless, with a payout of 111x the total bet for a five of a kind combination, it definitely deserves a mention!
Those with smaller bankrolls will be pleased to find a minimum bet of just €0.20 per spin available in Tippy Tavern, whilst, at the other end of the scale, there’s a maximum limit of £30.00 per round. One thing to keep in mind with this game is that the special features are tied to your current wager, so it’s probably a good idea to stick to the same bet between bonus rounds.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game of Tippy Tavern is typical of online slots, with a 5×3 reel set spanned by 20 fixed paylines. All the symbols shown on the paytable require at least three matches starting from the leftmost reel to award a win, except the scatters and coin symbols.
Coin Collect Feature
The coin symbols and coin collect bonus make up the only real base game feature offered in Tippy Tavern. Coin symbols can appear anywhere on the playfield, but the coin-collecting leprechaun only shows up on reel five. You’ll need the leprechaun and one or most coins to land simultaneously to benefit from the feature.
Each coin has a value of between 0.2x and 50x the total bet, but this can be further enhanced via the coin booster multiplier. This starts at 1x when you first load the game and increases by 1x each time a ‘1UP’ symbol lands on the reels, up to a maximum of 10x. Whenever the coin booster multiplier gets applied to the value of collected coins, it is reset to the initial 1x.
Tippy Tavern Slot Bonus Features
The free spin scatter symbols only appear on reels one, three, and five, and you’ll need all three of them to trigger yourself a set of free spins. The ‘happy hour’ bonus is a little easier to trigger, as you need to collect a single ‘happy hour’ symbol on all five reels over any number of spins.
Free Spins
After the free spins feature is activated, nine free spins will be added to your remaining counter. This can be further increased by hitting two or more scatters whilst the free spins are in play; two scatters award an additional three spins, whilst all three will get you a full re-trigger of nine more free spins.
The free spins use an enhanced reel set that features more coins and more valuable ones at that, but the headline feature is surely the ‘re-spin pot’, which all coins are added to for the duration of the bonus round. When all your free spins have been used up, you’ll have a chance to collect the value of the pot multiplied by your current coin booster multiplier.
Happy Hour
This is a three-spin feature that uses an alternate reel set containing only coin symbols. Your bonus begins with three spins, or lives, on your remaining counter, and you will need to hit at least one coin symbol on each spin to keep your lives topped up. The feature will end if three consecutive spins occur with no coin symbols landing.
If you manage to fill all 15 possible positions with coin symbols during the Happy Hour feature, the value of every coin will be upgraded to 50x. If your coin booster multiplier is currently at 10x, you will automatically win the game’s top jackpot of 7,500x the total bet.
Tippy Tavern Slot Review Final Thoughts
There are so many Irish and leprechaun-themed slots that it’s difficult to keep track sometimes, and Tippy Tavern doesn’t do all that much to stand out from what is already an enormous crowd. Still, it’s a fun game with a reasonably sized jackpot prize, and both features are better than average. All in all, it might not look all that exceptional, but the game underneath is definitely worth a look.
