Game Overview
Game provider Pragmatic Play’s adorable collection of canines returns for another round of The Dog House – this time with a new Multihold bonus round that is almost certain to take your winnings to a whole new level. The base game is essentially the same as the original, and even seasoned fans of the game are unlikely to be able to spot any difference until they reach the free spins. This makes the 20-payline The Dog House Multihold more of an update than a full-blown sequel, but that shouldn’t matter to most players as the top jackpot has been boosted to 9,000x the total bet. The RTP has taken a small hit to compensate for this but is still above the industry average at 96.06%.
The familiar kennel wilds make another appearance in Multihold, each with a 2x or 3x multiplier attached to it. The wilds can only appear on reels two, three, and four, but if more than one appears on a single payline, their values will be added together before being applied to your winnings. The real draw of this machine is the free spins, though, where the reel set shrinks into the corner of the screen, and three further sets of reels are waiting to be unlocked. Wild symbols become sticky in this mode, and unlocking all four matrices is a surefire way to come away with a big win. As with most Pragmatic Play slots, a bonus buy facility is available at the cost of 100x the normal price per spin,
The first Dog House slot seems to be a favourite with players here at Demoslot, and I’m sure that this update is going to prove popular too – check it out and try The Dog House Multihold demo slot, available to play below.
Theme, Stkaes, Pays & Symbols
If you haven’t played Pragmatics first The Dog House slot game already, then there probably won’t be much point once you have tried this one – the two games are visually identical, as Pragmatic Play has recycled all of the assets used in the original. That’s not so bad though – these dogs are cute enough that they absolutely deserved a third outing! The 2x and 3x multiplier wild symbols are reminiscent of the many buffalo clone slots, including Pragmatic’s own Buffalo King slot, but this game has the distinct advantage of making them sticky during the bonus round. Sticky wild bonus rounds have always been good to me over the years and have been responsible for the vast majority of my biggest slot wins. Now, let’s find out if The Dog House Multihold looks set to continue that trend.
The Googly-Eyed Blue Dog is still the top dog of the paytable, although he’s worth a little less this time around at 25x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind. The Pink Dog is now worth 17.5x for all five of her symbols, whilst the Yellow and Cyan Pugs are worth 12.5x and 7.5x the total bet, respectively. There are two medium pays – a Collar worth 5x for a complete payline and a slightly less valuable Bone at 3.75x. I’m not sure the dogs would agree with Pragmatic Play’s definition of ‘valuable’ there! As for the low-paying royals, these are divided into the Ace/King at 2.5x and the Queen, Jack, and Ten, all of which offer 1.25x for a five-of-a-kind combination.
Whether you like to bet big or small, the bet selection system of The Dog House Multihold has you covered. Hitting the plus/minus buttons will pop up a smaller window with three controls allowing you to select the coins per line, coin value, and total bet. This provides complete flexibility between the minimum/maximum allowed wagers of €0.20 and €100.00, respectively.
Base Game & Modifiers
The Dog House Multihold uses a standard 5×3 video slot layout spanned by 20 fixed paylines. This means that all lines must be played on every spin, although this would be a good idea anyway, as you would not want to miss out on any potentially boosted wild line winnings! All prizes require at least three matching symbols starting from the leftmost reel to award a win.
Wild Multipliers
The kennel symbol is wild and substitutes for all symbols except for the bonus scatter. These symbols appear only on reels two, three, and four, but each also comes with a win-boosting multiplier of 2x or 3x. The multiplier will be applied to all paylines that pass through it, and if multiple wilds appear on a single line, their values are added together before being applied to your winnings.
The Dog House Multihold Slot Bonus Features
The paw scatter symbol appears on reels one, three, and five only, and you’ll need to hit all three simultaneously to trigger seven free spins in the bonus round.
Free Spins
The bonus round is played with four sets of reels, but only the first set is unlocked at the beginning of the feature. You’ll need to collect three more scatters during your free spins to unlock the next set of reels, and these only appear on the last matrix that was previously unlocked.
Any wild symbols that appear on the last unlocked matrix will become wild for the duration of the bonus round and will also be copied across to the next matrix when it is unlocked. The idea here is that if you reach the fourth matrix, you should have a decent amount of the playfield covered with wilds by that point. Of course, the sooner you hit some wilds, the more profitable the bonus round is likely to be, as they will be copied across to the three other matrices when they are unlocked.
Unlocking a new matrix will boost your remaining spin counter by either one, two, or three additional spins. Despite this, I still struggled to unlock more than three reel sets during my testing of the game. This didn’t matter though – I still managed to score some huge wins just by landing a decent number of sticky wild symbols.
Bonus Buy
Pragmatic Play knows that its players love a bonus buy facility, and The Dog House Multihold does not disappoint in this regard! The cost to purchase a set of free spins is 100x the normal price per round, which seems very fair to me considering the huge amount of potential that the feature offers. I’ll warn you now though; this is one hugely addictive bonus round!
Pros
- A quite fantastic upgrade to an already popular game.
- The higher jackpot of 9,000x bet in the Dog House series is far more appealing.
- Really entertaining bonus round with huge potential.
Cons
- Variable RTP levels are available for operators to use.
- On occasion, it can be frustrating when you don't get past the first level.
The Dog House Mutlihold Slot Review Final Thoughts
This is a worthy update to the original Dog House slot and its sequel, The Dog House Megaways. Regarding the features, I have to say I love the new variation of the free spins bonus on the Dog House Multihold, and the increased jackpot of 9,000x is a decent boost above what was available in the first game. If I'm honest, I can’t see many players returning to that game now that this is available, along with Pragmatic continuing to develop the franchise further with the addition of The Dog House Wanted Dog Or Alive and The Dog House Muttley Crew.
