Game Overview
If there really is such a thing as the afterlife, then one thing is certain, there is one hell of a lineup of rock’ n roll hall of famers pumping out epic guitar riffs and legendary ballads. Whilst we might sit and ponder such a thought, game provider Nolimit City is making these dreams a reality in The Crypt slot, which is ready to take players on the main stage with fret-bashing guitar solos and the occasional lighters in the air moment. As for the stats, we have a 6-reel slot with an RTP of 96.05% and a maximum win of 27,000x bet.
Usually, you’d expect a Nolimit City slot to have the amps at full volume, pumping out a huge feature set, but the provider has toned down the bonuses in The Crypt compared to past releases. That being said, we still have cascading reels in play throughout, an xNudge symbol that drops to the bottom of the reels, increasing in value when it lands, and an xWay symbol that can reveal 2 or 3 of the same symbol when it hits. The big encore, however, is the Resurrection Spins, triggered when three or more scatters land in view. During this round, high-value symbols can be turned into additional wilds, increasing the chance to hit a big win worth shouting about.
So, my fellow slot fans, how’s your air guitar coming along? Oh, it needs some practice, does it? Then why not polish up your skills and try our free The Crypt slot demo? It’s available to play below.
The Crypt Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Online slots with a musical theme tend to be a little hit or miss, in my opinion. Perhaps this is due to each player having their own unique taste in music; I mean, you’re not going to have much interest in a heavy metal-themed slot game if you’re singing along to Justin Bieber in the shower every night, are you? Still, it hasn’t stopped providers from shaking off their semiquaver and dipping into the water, with plenty of options out there for those who love a little boogie whilst they’re playing. If you’re looking for a few examples to try out, we’ve got NetEnt’s Guns ‘n’ Roses you can look at, along with Play’n Go’s Def Leppard Hysteria, and if you just enjoy a good mix of branded music on your slots, Big Time Gaming now has a decent selection that you can enjoy too.
Let’s get down to business on The Crypt slot then and check out the pays, where we’re greeted with six musical icons as the highest paying symbols. First up is Elvis, worth 2.5x for a five of a kind hit, followed by Lemmy, valued at 1.5x for a winning line of five. Next, we’ve got Kurt Cobain paying 1.25x, with John Lennon worth 1.1x, Amy Winehouse at 1x, and the legend Jimi Hendrix paying 0,9x for a five of a kind hit. The low pays are a little less flamboyant and represented by the industry standard royals. So, we have the Ace at 0.75x, a King at 0.6x, then the Queen and Jack sharing payouts of 0.6x, and finally, the Ten and Nine with equal rewards of 0.5x the bet for a winning combo of five.
We don’t often see Nolimit City move too away from their standard betting interface, and that’s the case on The Crypt slot too, with standard staking options starting at a minimum of €0.20 a spin and reaching a maximum of €100 with plenty of options between the two amounts. You will have to see whether such a range will be available for real money play, as the casinos often restrict the max bet due to Nolimit games paying their max wins out regularly.
The Crypt Slot Base Game
Initial gameplay on The Crypt slot may begin on a 6×4 reel matrix with 4,096 paylines, but this can increased as we’ll come onto shortly. As for grabbing yourself a bit of cash, you’ll need to land at least three matching symbols starting from left to right, with the win needing to begin from the leftmost reel first.
Bet
If the xBet option is activated players will pay 3 times the current bet, but will be more than 5 times likely to trigger the free spins bonus round.
Xnudge Wild
A wild that lands will drop down to the bottom position and increase a payout multiplier for every step it drops, then expand to cover the entire reel. Together with the xWays symbol, the payout multiplier can increase to 6x. It’s possible for the xNudge Wild to land on reels 2 – 5.
Multiple consecutive xNudge wild multipliers are added up to a total win multiplier, whilst the wild will substitute for all other symbols except the scatter.
Xways
The xWays is a mystery symbol that can hold 2 to 3 of the same symbol inside and will expand the reels. xWays symbols can land on all reels and expand each reel up to 6 symbols high. Multiple xWay symbols may land during one spin, with a maximum of 46,656 ways to win being possible.
The Crypt Slot Bonus Features
Bonus scatter symbols appear on all reels in The Crypt slot, and landing three in view will award 10 Resurrection Spins, with each additional triggering scatter adding 3 more spins to the starting total.
Resurrection Spins
During the Resurrection spins, a minimum of one xWays symbol is guaranteed on each cascade. Furthermore, every 4th winning cascade will turn one of the five dead legends into wilds for the remainder of the feature and award two extra free spins.
Any win on the highest paying symbol will award a +1x multiplier on that symbol. Winning cascades on only the highest paying symbol will not count for turning the symbols to wilds but only towards the multiplier increase.
Bonus Buy
If you can access the bonus buy menu, you can choose from the following options.
- 10 Resurrection Spins: Costs 100x bet.
- 13 Resurrection Spins: Costs 200x bet.
- 16 Resurrection Spins: Costs 500x bet.
- Lucky Draw: Costs 225x bet.
Pros
- It's always great to see homage being paid to musical legends of the past.
- The maximum win of 27,000x is most certainly worth winning.
Cons
- Varied RTP levels are offered to casinos, which reach as low as 87.01%. That thought alone makes me want to lock myself in a crypt for good.
The Crypt Slot Review Final Thoughts
Whether it's popular opinion or not, since NLC increased the regularity of their releases, the standard has certainly dipped, but to be fair, not every slot a studio goes on to release will be a blazing hit. I've no doubt that some players will find The Crypt slot a welcome break after the somewhat confusing DJ Pyscho, but whilst it was great to see some iconic musicians gracing my laptop whilst I wrote this review, the game just didn't cut it for me overall. Maybe you'll find it more enjoyable than myself, so don't forget to try out the demo.
