Slot Overview
Sweet Burst is a colourful cluster-pay video slot from Fat Panda that combines tumbling reels, high volatility, and increasing multipliers during Free Spins, with a maximum win potential of up to 5,000x. Does Sweet Burst deliver enough “goodness” behind its sugary presentation, or is it likely to be an underperforming game? Read on for the full review.
Theme & Design
Sweet Burst is a video slot from Fat Panda, but like all of their titles, it’s powered by Pragmatic Play, so don’t be surprised when you load the game up and find it looking like a Pragmatic release! Right off the bat, you’ll see that the game carries a strong candy theme, and you’ll see the reels situated inside what looks to be a sweet-making machine.
Symbols are fruit-based sweets rather than traditional candies, and this includes strawberries, blueberries, citrus slices, star-shaped candies, and berries. The design quality is pretty high, we feel, and all the symbols look good.
Fans of the original Starburst slot will see some loose similarities here, as will those who’ve spent time playing Pragmatic Play’s Sweet Bonanza before.

Sweet Burst Gameplay & Bonus Features
Sweet Burst is played on a fairly unique 3-reel, 5-row layout. There are no paylines, as a cluster-pays system is used, where symbols pay anywhere on the grid rather than across fixed paylines. Wins are awarded when five or more matching symbols connect in a cluster, after which the Tumble Feature activates. When a winning cluster lands, all contributing symbols disappear, new symbols fall into place from above, and this process continues until no new wins are formed.
The game’s main bonus round is a Free Spins feature, and it’s triggered by landing 3+ Rocket Ship Scatters anywhere in view. Doing so awards 10 Free Spins, and during the feature, landing 2 or 3 additional Scatters awards +5/10 extra spins, respectively.
During the Free Spins, Multiplier symbols come into play. Each Multiplier symbol carries a random value between 2x and 1,000x. When these land, they stay on the reels until the end of that spin. When the tumble sequence ends, all visible Multiplier symbols are added together, and the total win from that sequence is multiplied by the final combined value.
Pros
- Win up to 5,000x.
- Clean cluster pays mechanic with unlimited tumbles.
- Multipliers of up to 1,000x during the Free Spins.
Cons
- No Bonus Buy feature available.
- Very limited win potential in the base game.
- Feels like a more condensed version of Sweet Bonanza.
Sweet Burst Slot Review Final Thoughts
Sweet Burst is a straightforward cluster-pays slot that doesn’t really offer much in the way of innovation. Sure, it looks good, and the graphics are well-presented and nicely designed, but other than that, there’s really not a lot going on here.
Pretty much the entire point of the game is the Free Spins feature, and even here, there’s no Bonus Buy option available, so you’re forced into playing the base game and hoping to land it manually. Yes, big wins can appear during the bonus round, especially with the 1,000x multipliers, but with a maximum win potential limited at 5,000x, it’s unlikely to appeal to serious players, especially given the 3-reel setup it’s designed around.
Overall, Sweet Burst is best suited to casual players who don’t really care about bonus mechanics or maximum win potential and simply pick a slot due to the colours, laid-back sounds, and easy-to-follow action. It’s not a particularly exciting release, in our opinion, but it will likely perform fairly well with its target audience.
