Slot Overview
Sugar Duke is EGT Digital’s latest sweet-themed release, and it’s one of their non-classic-slot-inspired releases, doing away with fixed paylines and opting for a 6×5 cluster grid instead. Inside, you’ll find cascading wins, increasing multipliers, free spins, a bonus buy mechanic, four-tier progressive jackpots. Oh, and it won Best Game Soundtrack at the SiGMA East Europe Awards 2024, so let’s get into it and see what it’s all about!
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Sugar Duke is played on a 6×5 grid with a Pay Anywhere cluster system, so wins are formed by landing groups of matching symbols. Each win also triggers a cascade, clearing winning symbols and dropping new ones into their place. You can bet €0.20 to €80 per spin, and the RTP sits above-average at 96.51%.
In both the base game and the free spins feature, multiplier symbols can land, and these contain values from 2x to 500x. When they land, the multiplier attached is applied to the total win of that spin. To trigger the free spins feature, you need to land four or more scatter symbols anywhere in view, and doing so awards 15 free spins.
During the feature, any multipliers that are applied to a win get added to a total multiplier. This total multiplier does not reset between spins. If you land three or more scatters during the feature, you will also receive five additional free spins.
Unlike a lot of EGT’s slots, Sugar Duke contains a bonus buy mechanic, which allows you to buy directly into the feature for a cost of 100x. You can also activate x2 Chance, which increases your base game stake by 25% in return for a doubled chance of landing the feature naturally.
Finally, EGT’s iconic Clover Chance Jackpots are available to win in Sugar Duke too, and these progressives can be seen at the top of the screen. Once inside the Clover Chance bonus round, you simply pick from 15 symbols on screen, and the first three that match award the corresponding jackpot amount

Theme & Design
Sugar Duke is designed around a funfair theme, with the Duke himself (a flamboyant, top-hatted candy gentleman) looking over a world of cotton candy grass, giant candy canes, and a sweet-packed train rolling through the background, so, as you can probably tell by now, it’s busy, fast-paced, and… delicious.
We can also see why Sugar Duke won Best Game Soundtrack. It’s fun, upbeat, and adds a lot to the overall feel of the slot. So, while it may not have the marketing appeal of other titles like Sweet Bonanza or Sugar Rush, in some ways, Sugar Duke is better, in our opinion!
Pros
- Clover Chance progressive jackpots available to win
- Exciting Free Spins feature with sticky multipliers
- Bonus Buy + x2 Chance
Cons
- Very similar to other sweet-inspired cascading reels slots
- Game rules are pretty tricky to understand
- Max win of 5,000x isn’t the highest in the world
Final Thoughts
Sugar Duke is easily one of the more interesting things EGT Digital has produced in a while, and it’s refreshing to see the provider doing something different from the classic fruit machine mechanic that works but is a bit samey at times.
Yes, Sugar Duke may be inspired by similar candy-themed games, but we love the fact that their Clove Chance progressive jackpots are available here, and this means the game offers something similar titles don’t. The Bonus Buy is reasonably priced at 100x, and with a maximum win potential of 5,000x, it’s a solid game for those wanting a colourful, fun, and sugar-filled slotting experience!
