Theme & Design

Light & Wonder brought us the original Star Trek The Next Generation slot a while back, and now they’re following it up with a sequel: Star Trek The Next Generation Megaways. Interestingly, BGaming also has a video slot with the same name: Star Trek The Next Generation, raising the interesting question of whether more software providers will license the franchise!

Star Trek The Next Generation Megaways, however, is probably the best of the three, and visually, it’s also the most impressive, albeit similar. The reels themselves sit within a spaceship, and to the left-hand side of the reels you’ll see the game’s six different jackpots. Above the reels, you’ll also see an electrified chest, which we’ll cover in the “gameplay & bonus features” section of this review.

Star Trek The Next Generation Megaways Gameplay & Bonus Features

Star Trek The Next Generation Megaways is built on a 6-reel layout using Big Time Gaming’s Megaways engine, with reel heights changing on every spin and up to 117,649 ways to win. Wins can be formed from left to right and, during the respin bonus, from right to left too. You can spin the reels for between €0.20 and €40 per spin. The game has an RTP of 94.31%.

Now, every winning combo triggers the cascading reels mechanic, removing the contributing symbols and dropping new ones down. You will also notice that special Collection Tokens can land on all reels, and whenever one does, it’s collected and added to the chest above the reels. This can randomly trigger the free spins bonus.

The Respin Bonus activates when Respin symbols land on reels 1 and 6 at the same time. The number displayed on reel 6 determines how many re-spins you get. During the feature, the slot pays both ways, and all winning symbols are removed between respins. However, here, no new symbols drop in to fill those empty spaces. Instead, the reel strips get gradually emptier, and if you manage to clear all positions on the grid, the Warp Speed Wheel Feature is triggered.

The Warp Speed Wheel Bonus can also be triggered by collection tokens. Once triggered, you’re taken to a wheel, where you can win free spins, jackpots, or a level-up, which moves you to a more lucrative wheel.

The game’s main free spins bonus is triggered directly via the Warp Speed Wheel or by collecting tokens in the base game. Once triggered, you get to choose from four different modes, all of which pay both ways and offer an unlimited increasing win multiplier.

During the free spins, you will also notice jackpot symbols landing on the reels. If you land one on both reels 1 and 6, the Jackpot Wheel appears, and this spins before awarding you one of the game’s fixed jackpot prizes.

Ante Bet / Bonus Buy
