Game Overview
Casino game provider Fa Chai’s Star Hunter takes the fish-shooter genre into deep space, and it does away with the conventional spinning reels you’re probably used to, replacing them with arcade-like action instead. Instead of paylines, wilds, and free spins, you’re firing bullets at enemy spaceships, and it’s one of the most unique games we’ve reviewed here at Demoslot. Learn all about it here in this review!
Theme & Design
From the classics like Space Invaders to more modern slot releases like Space Wars XXXtreme Megaways, we’ve seen a tonne of outer-space shooter-inspired slots in the past, and the sci-fi genre has always been popular in the online gambling world. What we haven’t seen a lot of, however, are arcade-based games with a genuine skill element, and that’s exactly what Star Hunter, from Fa Chai, offers.
Visually, it lands somewhere between Galaga and Space Invaders, but it’s delivered in a way that makes it feel like it’s kind of half video game, half gambling game. The graphics are solid, and when we were testing it, we didn’t see any lag, even when a large number of spaceships and enemy vehicles were moving around on the screen at the same time. Be aware, however, this is NOT a video slot. In fact, it’s about as far from a slot machine as you can get!

Star Hunter Gameplay & Bonus Features
This isn’t a slot. It’s a bet-per-bullet gambling shooter where every shot you fire costs money, and every target destroyed instantly pays its multiplier as a cash prize.
When you load the game, you’ll be first prompted to select which lobby you’d like to join. The “Experience Lobby” is where you can try the game in demo mode. The others simply offer different stake levels. To get started, you select how much you want to stake (per bullet), decide whether to activate any of the stronger weapons, and then click on the screen on the places you want to shoot.
Now, that sounds quite hectic, and it’s true: there’s a lot going on. Essentially, the game works on a bet-per-bullet mechanic, and each shot you fire costs you money. Every time you kill a target, you win money. Missed shots lose you money; accurate shots win you money.
Now, you can also choose to activate the “Extra Bet” option. Doing so increases the cost of each bullet by 1.5, but in return, random multipliers are unlocked, of up to 5x, which are then applied to any wins you land. You must also have the Extra Bet enabled if you want to be able to get the highest payouts during boss fights.
If you destroy certain “special carriers”, you also temporarily get access to some special weapons. This includes a Lion Gun, which pays 30x and wipes a whole cluster of enemies out at once, and a Bear Gun, which awards 40x and fires three large bombs onto the screen. So, essentially, when you get one of these special weapons, you get paid a cash prize and then get to watch as it kills a bunch of targets, leading to more wins.
Now, Star Hunter also contains a Gauss Gun mode, which is, we guess, an equivalent to a free spins bonus. When you defeat an enemy, you can randomly be awarded this, and you are then awarded 30 free bullets. You also have a higher chance of killing large fighters when firing these free bullets.
Like other games from Fachai Gaming, which use a similar concept/mechanic, Star Hunter is also a multiplier game. The biggest payouts can be found in the multiplier “boss battles”. When these are triggered, multiple players shoot the same boss at once, but only one gets the Evolution killing blow and the maximum win potential of up to 3,000x!
Pros
- A LOT more interactive than any video slot.
- Boss fights are actually very tense and exciting.
- Win up to 3,000x your “per-bullet” stake.
Cons
- Not suitable for players wanting video slot action.
- Bullet costs add up very quickly.
- Can be frustrating to reach Boss Battles and see another player win, while you don’t.
Star Hunter Review Final Thoughts
Star Hunter is easily one of Fa Chai’s most entertaining shooter-style games, and it’s insanely chaotic, fast-paced, and a LOT more interactive than any video slot you’ll ever play. There’s a pretty interesting mixture of arcade action, and from the evolving weapons to the boss fights, it really does make you feel as though you’re playing a video game, and potentially winning real cash while doing so!
Still, it won’t be for everyone. The bet-per-bullet system means costs can get very expensive, very quickly, and the competitive boss battles can feel brutal when another player ends up winning the top prize, and you walk away with, say, 10x your bet. Plus, you basically have to have Extra Bet enabled if you want to unlock the multipliers and thus have a chance at the top prize of 3,000x, but it’s an interesting concept, for sure!
