Game Overview

Casino studio Gaming Realms is back with another Slingo release: Slingo Christmas Re3ls, a vibrant holiday edition of its iconic number-matching format. The game combines classic Slingo gameplay with an inventive “Santa Respins” mechanic, and if you’re a Slingo fan, it’s quite a bit of fun to play!

Theme & Design

Slingo is a unique hybrid of slots and bingo, and they’re kind of like Marmite: some players love them, and some players hate them! For us, they can be quite a bit of fun, especially when the theme is good, and the game we’re reviewing today is Slingo Christmas Re3ls. As the name suggests, the slot is Christmas-themed, and it looks great. You’ll see the reels set in a snowy wonderland, and the artwork is impressive.

If you’re new to Slingo games, by the way, you may want to consider checking out titles like Slingo Cleopatra and Tetris Slingo, both of which are iconic and come directly from Slingo Originals.

Slingo Christmas Re3ls Gameplay & Features

At its heart, Slingo Christmas Re3ls keeps the core mechanics of the series intact. You begin by selecting their stake and pressing spin, receiving 10 spins to match numbers from the reels to those on the 5×5 grid. Completing horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines forms Slingos. Each time you do, you climb the ladder on the left-hand side of the screen. If you manage to form all 12 Slingos, you win the max prize of 210x.

Multiple lines can be completed at once, and the final marked number always awards at least two winning lines. Wilds and Super Wilds continue to play a key role, too, like in most Slingo versions.

Normal wilds mark any number in the column above, and Super Wilds can mark any number on the grid. You’ll also find Blockers, but these do nothing.

Now, you don’t get paid for 1, 2, or 3 Slingos, but if you hit four or more, things start to get interesting, as Santa unlocks the Re3ls Feature. Each Santa symbol that lands triggers Santa Respins, expanding the layout into a 5×3 format with 15 independent reels containing only Santa and Blocker symbols.

Every time you land a new Santa symbol, the re-spins keep going, and if you miss, you lose one life. Your lives are displayed above the reels, and you earn them at 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 Slingos. When all lives are gone (or the reels fill completely), the feature ends.

You can also land stacks of Santa symbols, which unlocks the Santa Collection feature. 1 stack awards all multipliers in the column above, 2 stacks award multipliers from both corresponding columns, 3 stacks award all multipliers on the grid, 4 stacks award all grid multipliers with a 3x multiplier, and 5 stacks total all grid multipliers and multiply them by 5x!

Once the initial 10 spins finish, you can also purchase extra spins to continue. Be warned, however, that the price of these Extra Spins can get very pricey, and their cost varies depending on the current grid position and the remaining win potential.

Pros

  • Festive theme with great graphics.
  • Unique Santa Respins mechanic.
  • Plenty of extra bonus rounds.

Cons

  • Low top-of-the-ladder win potential of 210x.
  • The game relies heavily on landing wilds.
  • Extra Spins can become very expensive.

Slingo Christmas Re3ls Slot Review Final Thoughts

Slingo Christmas Re3ls is Gaming Realms doing what it does best; combining simple mechanics with inventive bonus design and polished visuals. Sure, those who don’t like Slingo games probably won’t find much to get excited about here, but if you are a Slingo fan, it’s a pretty decent game!

The Santa Respins feature adds an entirely new type of mechanic, and it’s a festive game but without gimmicks, something we see all too often in Christmas-themed releases.
