Slot Overview
Shogun Skylord is a high-volatility fantasy slot from Just Slots, and the game is set in a skybound world, where you’ll be face to face with avian warriors! Look out for Expanding Wilds with multipliers, Progressive Free Spins, a maximum win potential of up to 10,000x, and plenty of action. Is the game any good? The Demoslot team investigates.
Gameplay & Bonus Features
Shogun Skylord is played on a 5×6 layout with 40 fixed paylines in play at all times. Wins are formed by landing 3+ matching symbols from left to right, and you can bet between €0.10 and €100 per spin. The default RTP is listed as 96.34%, but the game is also offered in 94.32% and 92.37% variations.
In all game modes, the Expanding Wild can land. When it does, it behaves like a normal wild and then expands to cover the entire reel. It also carries a multiplier between 2x and 100x. When one or more Expanding Wilds are part of the same winning combo, their multiplier values are added together before being applied.
The main Free Spins bonus is triggered by landing 3+ Scatter symbols in view. Doing so awards 10 free games. During the feature, each time an Expanding Wild with a multiplier lands, that multiplier is added to the reel it landed on. If you trigger the feature with 4 or 5 Scatters, you also begin with a 3x or random multiplier on all reels, respectively.
Bonus Buy & Ante Bet
Shogun Skylord includes an Ante Bet (HotSpin) option that increases your chance of triggering Free Spins at a cost of 4x your base game stake. You can also use two Feature Buy options: 100x awards the bonus round with a random number of Scatter symbols, while 400x guarantees a 5 Scatter trigger.

Theme & Design
Shogun Skylord blends Japanese-inspired fantasy with a bright, colourful backdrop of gorgeous valleys and pagoda temples, some of which appear to be set on floating islands behind the reels! The game grid itself sits on a balcony-like platform, and there’s a very calming soundtrack accompanying each spin; solid design/audio work here, we feel!
If you’ve ever played video slots like Bushido Gold or Sword of Shoguns before, you’ll recognise the look and feel of Shogun Skylord. We love the way the reels are set in a strange, mythical space, and the floating “vibe” works really well, we feel.
Pros
- Expanding Wilds with 2-100x multipliers offer decent base game fun.
- Free Spins offer progressive reel multipliers.
- Superb design, theme, and audio effects.
Cons
- High volatility means dry spells can be pretty common.
- The game can be offered in RTP configurations as low as 92.37%.
- Feature Buy/HotSpin options are unavailable in some regions.
Final Thoughts
Shogun Skylord is a great-looking game from Just Slots, but it doesn’t exactly offer anything overly original. A lot of the core mechanics are very familiar, and Hacksaw Gaming fans will recognise a lot of the features pretty much instantly
The Expanding Multiplier Wilds have clearly been “inspired” by other games, but we do like how Just Slots has added their own little twist in the bonus round with the progressive multiplier reels.
It’s a pretty straightforward slot other than that; a 10,000x maximum win potential means it’ll appeal to a good number of players, but just make sure you’re playing the highest RTP version of the game, as 92.37%, the lowest it’s shipped in, is too low for us!
