Game Overview

Shamrock Money Pot Big Bang is the latest release from ReelPlay. This Megaways-looking game is, of course, based on the Emerald Isle of…Ireland! Corny leprechaun-themed aside, the game offers quite a lot of action, from bonus re-spins and fixed jackpots to a maximum win potential of 10,000x. You can learn all about it here in this review!

Theme & Design

Today, many players lower their heads and roll their eyes when they hear of a new Irish-inspired slot being released. Here at Demoslot, we tend to agree, although there are some decent games within the genre, like Clover Castle and Book of Fortune.

Shamrock Money Pot Big Bang is, visually, fairly impressive-looking, IF you can put aside the fact that it’s themed around a genre that’s been done more than perhaps any other in the online gambling world, and the reels themselves sit beside a tree, with a flowing river visible at the bottom of the screen.

On the left-hand side of the reels you’ll see the game’s five fixed jackpots, and there’s an interesting-looking top row at the top, too, which makes it look quite similar to a Megaways slot from Big Time Gaming!

Shamrock Money Pot Gameplay & Bonus Features

Shamrock Money Pot Big Bang is designed around a six-reel, four-row layout, but above the middle four reels there’s an extra top row of symbols, essentially making it a 4-5-5-5-5-4 layout. There are no paylines, as there are 10,000 ways-to-win active, it has a theoretical RTP of 96.14%, and you can stake between €0.20 and €20 per spin.

It’s a pretty straightforward game, and there are just two bonuses and features. The first is the Big Bang, which is triggered by landing 4+ BIG BANG symbols anywhere in view on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. When activated, your ship begins with 3 lives. There are 5 levels in total, with 9 different enemies. You simply need to choose one enemy to attack, and each attack can land you a non-bonus prize, a bonus prize, or you can be shot and lose a life.

The more through the levels you progress, the higher the prizes can be worth, and if you reach level 5, well, this is where you’ll have a shot at the game’s maximum win potential of 10,000x!

The second feature is the Bonus Respins game, and it’s triggered by landing 6+ scatter symbols in view. Once triggered, you’re awarded 3 re-spins, and all scatter symbols are held in place, while all remaining positions spin. If any new scatter symbols land, they also lock in place, and your re-spin counter resets back to 3.

This simple Hold & Win re-spin-style bonus simply continues until you fill all positions on the screen or until you fail to land any new symbols for three consecutive re-spins. At the end, each scatter symbol turns into a cash prize or a jackpot, the latter of which varies between 10x and 10,000x.

Pros

  • Win up to 10,000x.
  • Two different bonus rounds.
  • Unique 4-5-5-5-5-4 reel layout.

Cons

  • Both bonus rounds are almost identical.
  • The theme is VERY overdone.
  • Feels like a very boring slot to actually play.

Shamrock Money Pot Slot Review Final Thoughts

Shamrock Money Pot Big Bang is one of those slots that proves you can breathe a bit of life into an overcooked theme… but only just. ReelPlay’s unique 4-5-5-5-5-4 setup offers some uniqueness, at least, but we’ve seen tons of Megaways games with the Hold & Win mechanic/Irish theme anyway, and to be honest, this just feels like a pretty big letdown in practice.

The game has two bonus rounds, and they’re basically exactly the same thing. Sure, there’s a slightly interactive element in the Big Bang feature, but then, why not pair it with a free spins feature or something else? Why a Hold & Win feature that offers the exact same maximum win potential of 10,000x?

Still, if you can ignore the countless Irish-themed releases that came before it, Shamrock Money Pot Big Bang may appeal to you, and it looks fine; we just don’t think it’s the most innovative game in the world, and, frankly, we were bored while testing it.
