Game Overview
Season of Fortune is the latest Slotmill release, and this coin-cluster-based slot offers free spins, super free spins, multiplier presents (with multipliers of up to 500x), and a maximum win potential of 15,000x! Is Season of Fortune any good? Let’s find out!
Theme & Design
It’s that time of year where we start to see game developers pushing out Christmas-themed slots, and while many providers choose to simply re-skin one of their older titles, Slotmill has chosen to go back to the drawing board and release something brand new, Season of Fortune.
Visually, Season of Fortune is really quite impressive, we feel, and the game looks and feels very festive! The reels are set atop a beautiful winter backdrop, and you’ll see cosy cottages covered in snow, with signposts showing the directions to the North Pole! There are Christmas trees, and you can even see the glow of the northern lights at the top!
Of course, this is hardly surprising for Slotmill, a game developer who almost always pushes out great-looking games. Many of their recent releases, like Fortune Pandas and Brew Brothers Xmas Brew, look superb, and we love the attention to detail they put into their games.

Season of Fortune Gameplay & Bonus Features
Season of Fortune is designed around a 6×6 grid layout. There are no paylines, as the slot uses a cluster pays mechanic. After a winning spin, symbols are removed from the reels, too, and the cascading reels mechanic kicks in. Season of Fortune can be played for stakes between €0.20 and €50 per spin, and the game offers an RTP of 96.04%.
The first feature to be aware of is Coin Clusters. In the game, you will see Coin symbols on the reels, each displaying a value of between 1x and 40x. When Coin symbols form part of a cluster of 5+ symbols, each multiplier on the coins is added and credited to your balance.
Multiplier Present symbols hold random multiplier values between 2x and 500x. When one of these lands in view, along with a win, it stays on the grid, and once no more winning combos are formed, the multiplier is applied against the total win amount for that spin.
Landing 3 free spins symbols triggers the standard free spins bonus, and this awards you with 10 free games. During the free spins bonus, whenever the Present Multiplier symbol lands AND there’s a win, the multiplier is added to a global multiplier, and this does not reset between rounds.
Landing 2 free spins scatter symbols and 1 Super Bonus scatter symbol triggers the Super Bonus Round, too. Again, 10 free games are awarded, but during this bonus, any Coin symbols that land are added up and dropped to the bottom of the grid. They stay here until the end of the free spins bonus, making it pretty likely that you’ll be able to form a winning cluster using them.
X-TRA-Bet / Fast Track
Season of Fortune contains a few optional side bets, too. XTRA-Bet increases your stake by 50%, but makes it 2.8x more likely that you’ll trigger the free spins bonus. You can also pay 100x for instant entry into the standard free spins bonus or 500x for entry to the Super Free Spins Bonus. Finally, you can pay 40x to trigger a Random Multiplier on the next spin.
Pros
- Win up to 15,000x.
- Beautiful festive theme and design.
- Plenty of bonuses and features.
Cons
- Feels very similar to Sweet Bonanza.
- Low win potential without multipliers.
- XTRA-Bet/Fast Track options are disabled in some regions.
Season of Fortune Slot Review Final Thoughts
Season of Fortune is a good looking slot, there is no denying that. We love the time and effort that Slotmill has put into making the game, and it looks truly stunning. It’s also pretty fun to play, and we generally feel good about the game.
Sure, it borrows quite heavily from Pragmatic Play's Sweet Bonanza, that’s evident by the multiplier mechanic, but Slotmill hasn’t just cloned the game. Instead, they’ve added the coin-collector mechanic, developed two different types of free spins rounds, and added multiple bonus buy options, and for us, this makes the game unique enough to warrant it playable.
Sure, it won’t be for everyone, and the theme won’t appeal to players all year round, but if you’re looking for a festive slot to try out this Christmas and want to be able to win up to 15,000x, Season of Fortune is worth a spin or two!
