Slot Overview
Scarab Rising Megaways is a new concept Megaways release from Blueprint Gaming that combines an ancient Egyptian theme with an impressive set of features, all built around collection mechanics, cash prizes and a progression trail. With up to 15,625 ways to win, multiple bonuses, and the familiar Megaways mechanic, is it any good? Or is the abundance of bonuses and overused Megaways system too much? Find out in this detailed review.
Theme & Design
Scarab Rising Megaways leans heavily into classic Egyptian design, and you’ll see the reels set atop a background with pyramids, palm trees, and blue skies. While everything is tied together quite nicely, there’s no denying this is, fundamentally, a pretty basic-looking game, and there’s not much to get excited about design-wise.
It really reminds us of the Eye of Horus slot, a game that was released more than a decade ago, and we just don’t feel that it lives up to the graphical quality we’ve come to expect from games in 2025. Compare it to Pragmatic Play’s Duel of Night & Day, for example, and you’ll see the two games are miles apart, looks-wise.
Still, it doesn’t look terrible; it’s just a bit ‘flat’. Above the reels, you will see a well-designed and detailed progression trail; however, above this, you’ll see the game’s four fixed jackpots, along with the Megaways counter that displays the number of ways-to-win active on every spin.

Scarab Rising Megaways Gameplay & Bonus Features
Scarab Rising Megaways uses a 6-reel Megaways layout, with each reel showing up to five symbols for a maximum of 15,625 ways to win. Wins are formed by matching symbols from left to right on adjacent reels, and their position doesn’t matter. You can stake between €0.10 and €25 per spin, and the RTP is incredibly low, at just 92%!
When you begin playing, you’ll notice Wild symbols on reels 2-6, and these substitute for all paying symbols. There’s quite a lot happening, even in the base game, and on any spin, there’s a chance one of the Scarab Riches Modifiers can be awarded:
- Tomb Treasures: Randomly transforms reels into stacks of Cash Prize symbols.
- Bonus Boost: Adds additional Bonus Scatter symbols to the reel.
- Egyptian Gold: Scarabs land on random positions and upgrade the symbol they landed on into Wilds or the top-paying symbol.
- Ra’s Reset: Symbols are removed from the reels, and new ones drop down, guaranteeing a win.
Now,, the Collect mechanic is central to the game’s design. Initially, Collect symbols appear only on the final reel, but when they land alongside cash prize symbols, they collect and award the displayed values.
Each time you land Collect symbols, they’re added to the feature trail above the reels, and as you progress, you’ll unlock things like Dual Collect, Streak Collect, Boost Collect and Multi-X Collect. Collecting 20 unlocks the Scarab Blitz Super Spin, the highest feature you can be awarded.
Landing 3+ Bonus Scatter symbols in view awards the game’s main bonuses; Scarab Spins, or Scarab Blitz Super Spins. In the standard Scarab Spins, you’re awarded 10 Free Spins, and here it’s a Big Bass Bonanza-style feature, where collecting multiples of 3 additional Collect symbols progresses you along a trail, with +10 spins and a multiplier being awarded with each new level you unlock.
If you’ve unlocked the Scarab Blitz Super Spins in the base game, you can also choose to take this feature instead of the standard Scarab Spins. During this bonus, 1 Super Spin is awarded. Here, only the Cash Prize and a Special Collect symbol are in play.
The Collect symbol is guaranteed to land on reel 1 and/or reel 6 and will collect the value of any Cash Prize symbols visible on the grid. Any Cash Prize symbols that land also contribute to a retrigger trail, giving you the chance to extend the feature.
On the initial Super Spin, collecting 13 Cash Prize symbols retriggers the feature; on the second spin, this increases to 14, and on any future spins, 15 Cash Prize symbols are required.
When the bonus retriggers, you’re awarded a “Pick a Key” feature, which awards 1 additional Super Spin and can apply a multiplier of up to x10 to any Cash Prize symbols collected on that extra spin.
Pros
- Win up to 10,000x.
- Solid, well-thought-out Collect mechanic system.
- Tons of bonuses including random bonus funds features.
Cons
- Incredibly low RTP of 92%.
- The graphics are fairly bland.
- No Bonus Buy/Ante Bet options available.
Scarab Rising Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts
Blueprint Gaming was the first software provider, bar Big Time Gaming (BTG), to see success with the Megaways mechanic. In the late 2010s, they had what many would call a monopoly on mechanics. They were pushing out games left-right-and-center, and they were basically crushing the world of online slots.
Then, providers like Hacksaw Gaming, Pragmatic Play, and Push Gaming “pushed back”, and we saw tons of other studios licensing the Megaways mechanic. Developers create unique mechanics of their own. Since then, Blueprint Gaming has struggled, and releases like Scarab Rising Megaways show why, in our opinion.
Putting the poor graphics aside (many other studios like Hacksaw push out games that are incredibly simple and bland), Blueprint Gaming just doesn’t seem to get it. First, a 92% RTP is just shocking. Secondly, while we like the whole Collect-based mechanic they’ve developed here, it’s not innovative enough, in our opinion. Nothing is new here, and there doesn’t appear to be any obvious reason to play.
Yes, the Super Spin mechanic is cool, but many players adamantly refuse to play progression-based games like this anyway, and even if you do slog it out to unlock the full progression meter, you can ‘only’ win up to 10,000x. Yes, it’s a great maximum win potential, but compared to many of the games we’re seeing released today, it’s still pretty low.
If Scarab Rising Megaways had been released 5 or 6 years ago? We would have loved it; and we suspect players would have, too. (Forgetting the low RTP.) Early 2026, however? We don’t think Scarab Rising Megaways will do too well in the market, and it’s simply not original enough to take off, in our opinion. It’s not a bad game, but, for us, it’s just not enough.
