Slot Overview

Samba Reels is the latest Blueprint Gaming release. This bright, carnival-themed slot looks quite basic but offers a surprisingly deep feature set. With quirky mechanics like Samba Shuffle, Clone Reels, Free Spins, and a decent maximum win potential of 5,000x, is the game any good? Can mechanics offset the dated design? Let’s find out.

Gameplay & Bonus Features

Samba Reels is a 5-reel, 3-row slot with 25 fixed paylines. Wins are paid from left to right. You can wager from €0.25 to €500 per spin, and the game offers a below-average RTP of 94.53%.

There isn’t a huge amount of bonus action in Samba Reels, but you will find a unique Samba Shuffle bonus, and when 3 or 4 full reels of the same symbol land, the game triggers a shuffle that moves full reels to the left to help form (or improve) a winning combo.

Landing 3, 4, or 5 of the Scatter symbols anywhere in view awards the Free Spins bonus. During the free games, Clone Reels come into play. Whenever 2+ Sun symbols land, Clone Reels are activated, and they then clone their reels for the next spins, effectively repeating the entire reel’s symbol layout to keep momentum going. Plus, if you land 2+ triggering Scatters, you’ll receive an extra free game, too.

Theme & Design

Samba Reels goes all-in on a Rio-style carnival theme, and you’ll see the reels inside a packed stadium, with an animated crowd moving around and making a LOT of noise! When bonuses and features are triggered, the animations change fittingly, too, and while we like the concept, we can’t help but feel that the game’s a bit too dated in its design.

If you like carnival slots that focus more on a bright, colourful atmosphere rather than a detailed backstory, think Carnival Cove and Carnival Queen 2, then you’ll find a similar vibe in Samba Reels.

Pros

  • The Samba Shuffle feature adds a nice base game mechanic.
  • Clone Reels during the bonus round can be quite exciting.
  • Win up to 5,000x your bet.

Cons

  • RTP is below average at 94.53%.
  • Not much happens in the base game if the Samba Shuffle doesn’t trigger.
  • It's hard to see how you’d get anywhere near the max win.

Final Thoughts

Samba Reels feels very much like a Blueprint Gaming slot that we’d have seen released 10 years ago. It’s hardly a game that looks like it was made in 2026, and while we don’t hate the look and feel, it’s clearly not the most modern-looking or crisp design.

There’s not a huge amount going on, either. Yes, the Samba Shuffle mechanic in the base game is quite fun, but it doesn’t seem to land that often, and it doesn’t produce great wins, either.

The Free Spins bonus is clearly where most win potential lies thanks to the Clone Reels, but even here, it’s hard to see how you’d get anywhere close to the 5,000x max win. So, while it’s not the worst game in the world, we can’t really see Samba Reels ever taking off, and it’s definitely not one of our favourite Blueprint Gaming releases, by a long shot.
