Game Overview

Slot provider Endorphina is one of the most interesting of the larger software houses producing modern online slots, as they haven’t fallen into the same trap as most of the other big boys by failing to take any risks when coming up with new ideas for their latest games. Take this new release, for example, named Samarkand’s Gold – I haven’t the first clue what on earth the world “Samarkand” could mean (we’ll look into that in a little while!), but as for the game itself… well, it sure is unique! The key specifications are 6×4 reels, a 96.04% RTP percentage, 1,024 pay ways, and a maximum win of 7,680x your bet. All good so far, but is it fun to play?!

Early indications look promising. There are a few wild symbols on reels two through four, a free games bonus round including wild multiplier symbols and one or two special enhancements, plus the option to gamble your prizes against the turn of a card if you wish. In summary, there’s enough here to keep things interesting for a reasonably long session.

Are you intrigued enough to try Endorphina’s latest efforts for yourself? If so, fire up the free demo slot of Samarkand’s Gold right here! This practice version of the game is available for you to access anytime on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Paytable For Samarkand's Gold Slot

So, just what is Samarkand’s Gold, I hear you ask? After a quick search on our ever-reliable god of knowledge known as Google, I soon found a Wikipedia entry informing me that Samarkand is a city in southeastern Uzbekistan, and all the more fascinatingly, it just so happens to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Central Asia. There is a multitude of confirmed evidence that proves humans have continuously inhabited the area since the late Paleolithic Era – that’s the 7th to 8th centuries BC, for us ignorant folk – and it was even a key location on the old Silk Road between China and Europe in its day. Once again, you really do learn something new every day, and it’s all because of my love of slots – amazing!

Over to the all important paytable, and we have a red king-looking dude topping off the list, with a return of 6.5x your bet for every completed pay line of five-of-a-kind. Behind him are the horse and dragon, both of whom pay 3.75x for all five, and finally, the two weapon symbols – a sword and a bow and arrow- will pay you 3x your bet for a full pay line. The scatters are worth 20x for all five, though sadly, the wild has no special return assigned, so you’ll receive the normal return as you would for the highest paying regular symbol should you be lucky enough to score a full pay line of those.

The minimum bet is slightly higher than average at €0.40 per round – not exactly huge, but possibly enough to discourage players with small bankrolls as you aren’t going to get a great deal of playtime for your money if you only have €10 to €20 in your gambling budget for the evening. At the other end of the spectrum, the maximum bet of €40.00 seems plenty enough for all but the highest of high rollers!

Base Game & Modifiers

Play With 1,024 Paylines And Win Up To 7,680x Your Bet In Samarkand's Gold Online Slot From Game Provider Endorphina

The standard game takes place on a 5×4 playfield with 1,024 payways – all prizes require at least three matching symbols starting from the left side of the reels, except the scatters, which pay anywhere as always. Sadly, there are no base game modifiers, but a card-based gamble feature is interesting in that sometimes it can work dramatically in your favour, should the face-up card be low enough.

Risk Game

This is a “higher-lower” playing card gamble feature with an overall RTP of 84%, although your odds will vary depending on which card is revealed at the start of each round. If the card shown is a two, you have a 162% chance of a win, whereas the odds drop to just 42% if the card displayed is an ace. The sweet spot occurs with the five, where the odds are 101% in your favour.

Samarkand’s Gold Slot Bonus Features

Land 3 Or More Scatter Symbols To Trigger The Free Spins Feature On Samarkand's Gold Video Slot

Three or more scatter symbols will trigger the free games bonus round, with eight free games awarded when the feature is triggered by three symbols, increasing to 15 or 20 free games for four or five scatter symbols, respectively.

During this mode, all wild symbols that form part of a winning combination will gain a multiplier tag, increasing the win’s value. These tags can be worth either 2x or 3x, and if more than one appears in a single winning combination, the multipliers will be multiplied together up to a maximum of 27x.

Two or more scatter symbols will re-trigger the feature, adding between five and 20 additional free games to your remaining counter, depending on the number of scatter symbols which cause the re-trigger.

Samarkand’s Gold Slot Review Final Thoughts

Samarkand’s Gold has to be my favourite Endorphina slot so far – it’s nothing complicated, just a solid, fun online slot machine that deserves to find plenty of fans.
