Game Overview

Lucksome Gaming’s history of developing Christmas slots continues with Saint Nicked 3: Present Tense, a 6×4 slot that uses a 4,096-ways-to-win mechanic. With stunning graphics, jackpots, and a maximum win potential of 10,000x, is this a slot worth playing? Or is the Xmas novelty starting to wear off?

Theme & Design

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when Santa parks his sleigh outside the pub after one too many, then Saint Nicked 3 might be able to show you exactly what happens! (Officially, the slot’s called Saint Nicked 3 Present Tense, but even Lucksome Gaming themselves tend to just call it Saint Nicked 3, which is how we’ll call it through this review.)

Now, the game is set on a snow-dusted city street under a full moon, and you can just about make out Santa’s sleigh behind the reels. There’s no doubt that this is a great-looking game, perhaps even one of the best-looking Christmas slots we’ve reviewed!

It’s also strangely very different from Blueprint Gaming’s typical design; Saint Nicked 3 looks… better. Plus, if you like other Christmas titles like Santa Wild Drop or Christmas Carol Megaways, this is probably a game you’ll appreciate, both for its visuals and mechanics!

Saint Nicked 3 Gameplay & Features

Saint Nicked 3 is played across a six-reel, four-row layout, and you’ll find 4,096 ways to win in play at all times, so there’s no need to worry about paylines! You can wager as little as €0.10 per spin, and the maximum bet, casino depending, can reach as high as €500! The default RTP is a little on the low side at 95%, and be aware that some casinos may even choose to run a lower RTP version of the game, so always check when you play!

Santa himself acts as the game’s wild symbol, substituting for all other paying symbols, but he can only appear on reels 2-6. You’ll also notice the Joy Bringer symbols, which can land on reels 1 and 6. These trigger the Collect Feature; when they land, they collect all cash prizes or jackpot symbols currently on the reels.

Where things start to get interesting is that the Collect symbol can actually “upgrade” as you play. These upgrades include:

  • Tinselator Cash Lock – This locks in cash prizes for future spins.
  • Nutcracker Nudge – Here, symbols are nudged up or down to help you form new wins.
  • Bargain Boost – Increases all visible cash prizes on the screen.
  • Joy Bringer Ultra – An enhanced Collect mechanic is triggered for that spin.
  • Tree-sure Trove – This adds a side pot that can, at random intervals, pay out stored prizes when you have a non-winning spin. It can also trigger the Super Santa Spins.

There’s also a Pick a Santa feature which, when triggered, allows you to select a Santa, who then awards things like modifiers, bonus spins, jackpots, or multiplier boosts.

The game has two free spins options, too: Santa Spins and Super Santa Spins. Landing 3+ scatter symbols in view triggers the Santa Spins, and this awards you 10 free spins and up to 500x your bet.

During this bonus round, all unlocked Collect symbols remain active on the reels. On any spin where a Collect symbol lands, the cash prize is awarded for each cash prize symbol in view. You can also win additional spins – and multipliers – by accumulating Collect symbols, making it very similar to Big Bass Bonanza

Now, the Super Santa Spins round is the game’s most valuable, and it can only be triggered through the Tree-sure Trove feature. Before the round begins, you receive a Pick an Upgrade bonus that can unlock one of several enhancements, including a headstart on the progress trail, to a 2x starting multiplier, or extra Cashpots on the screen.

Pros

  • Nice 4,096-ways-to-win mechanic.
  • Fun mixture of Collect features and modifiers.
  • Four non-progressive jackpots.

Cons

  • Very similar to most Big Bass games.
  • Slightly below-average RTP of 95%.
  • No bonus buy option available.

Saint Nicked 3 Present Tense Slot Review Final Thoughts

Saint Nicked 3 is a fantastic-looking game; there’s no denying that. And for many players, it keeps the party going, but it doesn’t really reinvent it. With so many Big Bass-style games on the market today, where you need to land Collector symbols to move up a multiplier ladder, Saint Nicked 3 doesn’t, in our opinion, do enough to differentiate itself from the hundreds of similar games.

Yes, we like the fact that there are four non-progressive jackpots available, but if anything, this actually lowers the RTP more than anything! There is also no bonus buy option available, which means actually triggering the Super Santa Spins bonus is going to be very difficult in the base game.
