Slot Overview

Rolling in Treasures is a gold-mining-themed video slot from Pragmatic Play. The action takes place on a 6×5 grid, with Scatter Pays and Tumbling Wins. A unique Multiplier Overlay mechanic keeps things lively as the cascades continue to land, and there’s no denying a LOT is going on. However, has Pragmatic Play diluted things with a fairly low maximum win limit of just 5,000x? Let’s find out.

Theme & Design

Rolling in Treasures goes with a familiar “down the mine” look: timber beams, lantern light, and a gold-littered tunnel framing the reels. It’s pretty “classic pragmatic”, we feel: you’ll see a happy, experienced-looking prospector and a set of mining symbols, including helmets, lamps, and carts.

It’s polished, and everything works well, but it’s definitely more of a functional game than a visually pleasing one, we feel. The mechanics also aren’t entirely new, so if you’ve played Sugar Rush before, or even Fire in the Hole, you’re already halfway there to learning how it all works!

Rolling in Treasure gameplay & Bonus Features

Rolling in Treasures uses a 6-reel, 5-row grid with a scatter-pays system, so there are no conventional paylines. Wins are formed by matching 8+ symbols anywhere in view, and you can bet from €0.20 to €240 per spin. The game’s default RTP is 96.5%, which isn’t bad, but lower variations are, unfortunately, available, too.

Now, any win triggers the Tumble mechanic, removing winning symbols and letting new ones drop in to form additional wins within the same spin. The Multiplier feature becomes apparent here, too.

After a tumble win in the base game, the positions where winning symbols were removed are marked with a 2x overlay multiplier for the next tumble. Each subsequent tumble increases these overlays by +1, and when a win lands on those marked positions, the overlay values contribute to the payout for that combination. In the base game, overlays reset at the end of the spin, but it’s still possible to hit some decent base wins thanks to these multipliers.

The game’s Free Spins Bonus is triggered by landing 4+ Bonus Scatters anywhere in view, and this awards you with 10, 15, or 20 free games depending on the number of Scatters landed. Retriggers are also available by landing 3+ Scatters during the feature.

Now, the core difference in the bonus round is the persisting mechanic. After the first tumble in the feature, new symbols drop with 2x overlays, and these multipliers continue to increase, so it’s basically a head start compared to the base game.

Feature Buy & Special Bets

Rolling in Treasures includes a few Bonus Buy/Ante Bet options:

  • Ante Bet: Costs 5x and doubles the chance of landing the bonus round naturally.
  • Super Spin: Costs 10x and guarantees the Multiplier Feature on every spin.
  • Feature Buy: Costs 100x, 250x, and 1,000x for Free Spins, Enhanced Free Spins, and Super Free Spins.

Note: The Enhanced Free Spins see the multiplier overlays increasing by +3 every time, while the Super Free Spins see the multiplier values double.

Pros

  • Persistent overlays during the bonus round.
  • Clear, familiar format/mechanic.
  • Plenty of Ante Bet/Bonus Buy options available.

Cons

  • Max win is limited to just 5,000x.
  • Super Free Spins costs a whopping 1,000x.
  • Bonus Buy/Ante Bet options unavailable in some regions.

Rolling in Treasures Slot Review Final Thoughts

Rolling in Treasures is, at first glance, a pretty straightforward Pragmatic Play release. It looks simple enough, especially if you have experience playing Sugar Rush or similar games previously. However, what IS very confusing is the fact that it looks to be a clone of the Sugar Rush overlay multiplier mechanic, but it’s not.

Instead, the multipliers increase by +1, or +3 in some bonus rounds, and it’s only the Super Free Spins that actually offer the doubling multiplier mechanic most of us are used to. This makes things quite confusing if you’ve played previous Pragmatic Play multiplier-doubling overlay slots, and while it’s not a criticism, it is something worth pointing out.

We do like how Rolling in Treasures has been put together aside from that, but the fact that the maximum win potential is limited at 5,000x? Well, that doesn’t make us feel great, and it all kind of leans into “What’s the point?”

Yes, Rolling in Treasures looks good, and yes, it’s fun to play. It’s volatile, and it’s got some good mechanics, but if you’re looking for those once-in-a-lifetime hits, this probably isn’t it. 5,000x may be OK for casual players, but serious slots fans may well find themselves wanting something more, and/or the familiar doubling multiplier mechanic that’s become so synonymous with Pragmatic Play.
