Game Overview
Mega heists, train robberies and busting into casino vaults make for a great movie script, and there have been some classic titles to hit the big screen over the years. Funnily enough, I was just watching Goodfellas for the hundredth time, where they pull off the famous Lufthansa heist, scooping over 6 million dollars in cash and jewels. That has certainly put me in the mood to review Pragmatic Play’s slot, Robber Strike that’s for sure. So, how well does it fare on the stat front? This is a 6-reel machine with 4,096 paylines, a high RTP of 96.50% and a maximum win of 5,000x bet.
We’ve got plenty of features to discuss, so let’s begin with the wild symbol that can land on reels two through six in the base game. Each time this hits, there is a chance it can expand the full length of the reel with a multiplier of up to x10 attached to it. However, the biggest prizes in the game are won courtesy of the two familiar-looking bonus rounds, triggered when three or more scatters appear in view. The first is the expanding wilds free spins, where any wild that lands on reels 3 and 4 will expand and award a respin. Every win it is then involved in will see its value increase by x1. Second up is the sticky wilds free spins. You’ll be awarded a special symbol that transforms into a wild and becomes sticky each time it lands on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. To finish things off, we have a bonus buy feature priced at 100x the current bet.
Can you perfect the art of being a master criminal? One thing is for sure, you don’t want to get caught on the job, so why not hone your skills in our free demo slot of Robber Strike? It’s available to try out below.
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
There are dozens of online slot themes to choose from, but one that continues to resonate with players are games that focus on crime capers and, in particular, bank jobs and heists. This point can be proved with a simple search of heist in our search bar, which will bring up plenty of options if you want to delve a little deeper into the niche. As for recommendations, I’d suggest you take a look at Relax Gaming’s Mega Heist, Pragmatic Plays Heist for the Golden Nuggets, and Blue Guru Games Leprechaun Heist if you’d like to mix a bit of an Irish theme into things too. I think with this little case study, I’ve proven that this is a niche of games that continues to grow, so where will Robber Strike fit into the food chain? Let’s make our way over to the pays section as we start to find out.
We’re going to jump right in at the top of the paytable with the highest paying symbol, which is the Criminal Mastermind, who pays a 50x bet for a six-of-a-kind win. Next, we have a considerable drop in value down to the Policeman worth 10x bet for a full line of six. He is followed by the Dog at 4x, the Crown at 3x, and the last of the premium paying symbols is the Stack of Cash worth 2x bet for a winning combo of six. Pardon the pun, but it’s the usual suspects in play for the lower pays, where we have five royal symbols. These are the Ace, worth 0.8x for all five; the King, which pays 0.7x; the Queen and Jack at 0.6x and 0.5x, respectively; and finally, the Ten, paying 0.4x for a winning combination of five.
Regarding wagering options in Robber Strike, you’ll be pleased to know there’s an impressive selection on hand. The minimum bet to play starts from just €0.10, reaching up to a maximum of €100, but with dozens of intermediate stakes between these values, players are spoilt for choice, which is always a good thing, in my opinion.
Base Game & Modifiers
Played over a 6×4 reel matrix, Robber Strike has a total of 4,096 ways to win on every spin. Landing a win and banking some cash is simple enough, and you’ll need at least three matching symbols to land on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel first to do so.
Wild Symbol
The wild symbol can land on reels 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, substituting for all other game symbols except the scatter. Furthermore, any time a wild lands, there is a chance that it can expand the full length of the reel and have a random multiplier of up to x10 attached to it.
Robber Strike Slot Bonus Features
Bonus scatter symbols appear on all six of the game’s reels, but you’ll only need three to land for the feature rounds to be triggered. Whilst landing 4, 5, or 6 scatters will not award any extra spins; they will give you a cash award of 20x, 200x and 2,000x, respectively. Once the feature has been activated, you will be presented with the choice of two free spin rounds; these are as follows.
Free Spins With Expanding Wilds
This free spin feature will begin with 10 free spins, and if you have played Beast Mode from Relax Gaming, you’ll be very familiar with how this bonus works. Each time a wild symbol lands on reels 3 and 4, it will expand the full length of the reel, lock in place and award a respin. If it is then involved in a win, its multiplier value will increase by x1, and a further respin will take place. If both multipliers are present in a win, then their values will multiply each other before being applied to the win. Players can also win more spins via a re-trigger. Hit 3 or more scatters to receive 10 extra spins, with no limit on how many re-triggers can occur.
Free Spins With Sticky Wilds
Eagle-eyed players will recognise this bonus as an almost exact clone of the Gates of Hell feature on Big Time Gaming’s Danger High Voltage. It begins with 8 free spins and a random symbol from the paytable being chosen as your special symbol. Whenever it lands on reels 2, 3, 4, or 5, it will transform into a wild and remain in place for the duration of the bonus. Any normal wild symbols that hit will become sticky too. A re-trigger will occur if a reel is filled vertically with wild symbols, and 3 extra spins will be awarded.
Bonus Buy
If the feature buy option is permitted in your jurisdiction, you can trigger either of the free spins bonus rounds at the cost of 100x the current stake.
Pros
- Two exciting bonus rounds, even if they have been used in other slots before.
- The multiplying wilds in the base game can deliver some much-needed wins whilst you're in search of triggering the free spin bonuses.
Cons
- The maximum win of 5,000x is low, considering how much potential the multiplying wilds free spins have.
- The blatant copying of the two main features could immediately put off some players.
Robber Strike Slot Review Final Thoughts
Had this been the first time we had seen either of these bonus rounds, then Robber Strike would have been commanding a score north of 9.0 here at Demoslot. However, we've already seen them in previous slots and in the case of the multiplying wilds on Beast Mode, the max win is much higher on that game if you were to get a bit of good luck. The one saving grace of the features is the sticky wilds bonus. Yes, this is on BTG's Danger High Voltage but has anyone ever seen that pay anywhere near 5,000x? Whilst the number of videos or screenshots of that will be slim pickings, I have no doubt that Pragmatic Play's version will deliver several maximum wins.
