Game Overview

Rise of Olympus 1000 from Play’n GO is a fully redone, scatter-paying version of the iconic Rise of Olympus series, now with huge multipliers, cascading wins, and a maximum win potential of 60,000x your stake. While the gods Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades are still there, they no longer do anything, and virtually everything else is different. Learn all about these changes and what to expect here in this review!

Theme & Design

Rise of Olympus and Rise of Olympus 100 have been two of Play’n GO’s most successful releases, and they remain highly popular even today, years after their debut. Rise of Olympus 1000 is the natural follow-on to the previous two releases, and once you load the game, you’ll see that the visuals are instantly recognisable.

The reels are superimposed on a mythical land, with floating islands, temples, waterfalls, and, of course, the three cycling gods that appear on the right-hand side of the reels. In the top right-hand corner, you’ll also see the multiplier, but in Rise of Olympus 1000, it can, fittingly, reach up to 1,000x!

Rise of Olympus 1000 Gameplay & Bonus Features

Rise of Olympus 1000 is played on a 6×5 scatter-pay grid, where wins occur whenever 8 or more matching symbols land anywhere on the screen. You can bet anywhere from €0.10 to €75, and the game is available in multiple RTP settings, with the highest configuration being 96.24%.

Like its predecessors, Rise of Olympus 1000 is a cascading reels game, so winning symbols disappear from the reels, and new ones drop down to take their place. Now, in Rise of Olympus 1000, the core of the game revolves around the multiplier ladder. Multipliers can land randomly and are worth anywhere from 2x to 1,000x. If multiple appear in a single cascade, their values are combined.

Each cascade gives the multiplier a chance to upgrade by +1 stage. If it has already been upgraded once, the “super upgrade” can jump it forward by several stages at once. In the base game, multipliers reset between spins; in the bonus round, they become persistent, which we’ll cover shortly.

Now, the main free spins bonus is triggered by landing 3+ scatter symbols in view. Doing so awards 12 free spins, and it’s possible to re-trigger the bonus up to a maximum of 36 free spins in total. In the bonus round, the gameplay is identical to the base game, but the multipliers now become persistent, sticking between spins.

Go Ultra Ante Bet

Play’n GO’s CEO made a promise a few years ago that the provider would never resort to including Bonus Buys in their game, as they are predatory, according to him. It seems they may be regretting saying this, as we’re now seeing GO Ultra Ante bet options in new releases like Rise of Olympus 1000, and this allows you to increase your total stake by 50%. In return, any multipliers that land during a winning cascade are automatically upgraded by +1 stage.

Pros

  • Massive maximum win potential of 60,000x.
  • Unique Scatter Pays mechanic.
  • Far greater multiplier potential compared to previous games.

Cons

  • The Gods no longer have any special features.
  • There are no wild symbols in the game.
  • May feel too “different” for some players.

Rise of Olympus 1000 Slot Review Final Thoughts

Rise of Olympus 1000 is a risky sequel, we feel - but probably a good one. Now, it’s rare to see providers take a hugely popular (and proven) format like Rise of Olympus, and change things up so much, but that’s exactly what Play’n GO has done with Rise of Olympus 1000. They’ve scrapped the cluster pays mechanic, scrapped the wilds mechanic, and scrapped the beloved Hand of Gods features.

For some players, that change may be too much. However, we think it’s actually quite a smart play, and it’s exactly how the studio has been able to produce a game with a maximum win potential of 60,000x

The cascading action is smooth, the multiplier ladder is fun, and somewhat addictive, and the fact that super-upgrade mechanics can now come into play just makes it all the more exciting, in our opinion.

Now, yes, it won’t please everyone, and fans of the older games may miss the god-specific abilities. The gameplay itself is also a lot more predictable, we feel, but if you like the Rise of Olympus franchise and want something with much greater win potential, then Rise of Olympus 1000 is definitely worth checking out, if you can look past the (un-subtle) changes!
