Game Overview
Norse mythology is the theme in Play’n Go’s Ring of Odin video slot, and it is indeed one of the six enchanted objects that was crafted by the Norse dwarves that is the main focus of this game. That said object is Odin’s ring which is named Draupnir, this powerful object had the ability to multiply itself every ninth day, which we will see the creators of this game refer to throughout this high volatile slot.
Play’n Go have opted for a 5 reel and 3 row format for Ring of Odin with 10 fixed paylines in place to deliver the wins. There are two main bonus rounds within the game that offer some very good paying potential, as well as a high level of excitement. Discover more about the game with us in our review, and don’t forget to try the free play demo that we have in place.
Ring Of Odin Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Whenever a slot is themed around Norse mythology you can almost guarantee that you’re going to be in for some visual delights. Ring of Odin doesn’t disappoint in this department and the graphics on the game are sharp and engaging, whilst the sound track to the slot builds the scene perfectly for Odin to take centre stage.
The lower paying symbols on the game are made up of stones that are coloured green, blue, purple, and red, with pays ranging from 0.2x, up to 5x when winning combinations are formed through them. Premium value symbols on Ring of Odin comprise of the wolves, ravens, horse, and Odin’s spear, with a 5 of a kind win paying 10x, 15x, 20x, and 30x respectively.
When it comes to the price of play on Ring of Odin you can get the reels spinning for as little as €0.10, whilst the maximum bet size of the game is €100. We always like to take a look at how many stake sizes are available to play at within the range of €2 and the minimum stake, we are pleased to report that Play’n Go offer 7 bets within this area, which gives players a good choice when trying to find a stake that is comparable to their bankroll.
Odins Ring Feature
Whilst you are playing the base game on Ring on Odin it is possible for the Odin’s Ring feature to randomly trigger. When this happens Odin’s Ring will appear and position itself in the centre position of the game reels, the reels will then stop and whatever symbol lands within the ring will be your chosen symbol for the next part of the feature.
Now that you have your chosen symbol the reels will once again begin to spin, but this time the ring will expand to cover all positions on reels 2, 3, and 4, so 9 positions in total. The aim is for your chosen symbol to land in as many of those rings as possible, with one Draupnir respin being awarded for each that successfully lands within a ring.
The next part of the feature will see your chosen symbol fill all of the 9 ring positions on reels 2, 3, and 4. Your Draupnir respins will then take place with only reels 1 and 5 spinning to give you the chance of making some winning combinations. The feature will end when your respin total reaches zero.
Ring Of Odin Free Spin Feature
There are in fact two free spin features on Ring of Odin and the first we will talk about can be triggered when a scatter symbol lands on each of the reels 1, 3, and 5. If you are successful in completing this set up then you will be awarded with 4 free spins.
The free spin bonus will start with Odin’s Ring once again taking up the centre position of the game reels. This will then see the free spin bonus play out in exactly the same fashion as the Odin’s Ring feature does in the base game, with the only difference this time being that additional scatters may land during this bonus, and each scatter symbol that lands in view will award one additional free spin.
Ring Of Odin Multiplier Free Spins
The multiplier free spin feature is by far the better of the two free spin features that are available on the game, and this is triggered through the Odin’s Ring feature in the base game. If a scatter symbol lands in Odin’s Ring then once again the ring will expand to cover the 9 positions across reels 2, 3, and 4. However this time, each scatter symbol that lands within this grid will increase a multiplier that will come into play for the free spins by x1 in value for every scatter that hits .
Your free spins will then begin and work in exactly the same fashion as the standard free spin bonus, with a symbol being selected and then the chance given for Draupnir respins to be awarded. Players should note that the multiplier will remain intact for the duration of the bonus, and additional free spins can once again be awarded with each scatter that lands in view adding 1 extra spin.
Ring Of Odin Slot Review Final Thoughts
Play’n Go have brought a very solid slot to the table in the form of Ring of Odin, and we were very impressed and entertained with this game. We particularly liked the attention to detail that has been paid to the mythology itself, especially around Odin’s Ring and the significance of it multiplying up to 9 rings.
The variation in free spin features is also an excellent touch, bringing with it different levels of variance which we’re sure players will enjoy, especially the free spin multiplier bonus. It was nice to see a watered down version of the free spin round also present in the base game, this is sure to keep players engaged whilst in search of one of the main bonuses, as well as being a welcome top up to the balance.
We would definitely recommend that you give Ring of Odin a try whether you’re a fan of Norse mythology or not, the graphics are superb, the game play is smooth, and the slot is thoroughly entertaining.
