Game Overview

Fans of Red Tiger’s Power Reels franchise have been starved of new releases recently, as the developer seemed to have forgotten about the property during the latter half of 2022. However, it turns out that Power Reels haven’t been forgotten; after all, they were just sleeping! The latest addition to the series is named Reel Keeper Power Reels, a 40-payline machine with a 95.74% RTP and a maximum jackpot of 16,060.8x the player’s stake.

The first thing you’ll notice after opening this game is the outrageously large playfield – eight reels of six rows each make for a total of 48 symbol positions, which is more than three times the amount of a standard video slot. The eponymous Reel Keeper seems to be some kind of dragon and frequently appears to drop full-height stacked wilds onto the reel set. If he’s feeling especially generous, he may help you out further by shifting these wilds to the far left of the screen, ensuring you will win on several paylines simultaneously. All of these features come together during the free spins, where stacked wild symbols become sticky for the duration of the bonus round.

Whether you are new to the Power Reels series or a long-time fan, our free demo slot of Reel Keeper Power Reels is not to be missed! It’s available to play below.

Reel Keeper Power Reels Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Some slot franchises tend to focus on one or two specific themes, but that is not the direction that Red Tiger has chosen for the Power Reels games. For example, the last two slots we looked at here at Demoslot were Leprechaun’s Magic and Ali Baba’s Luck – two completely different machines in style and execution. Reel Keeper continues this eclectic trend but also boasts a much darker look and feel than its predecessors. One thing that does tie all these games together is their excellent presentation – the background and symbol graphics are well-drawn and presented in high definition, whilst the ambient soundtrack fits in well and is unlikely to begin getting on your nerves during the first five minutes.

The paytable is a little deceiving at first glance, as the numbers shown may differ from what you expect. For example, the top payout of ‘2,000’ for five wilds is just 50x the total bet, as the stated number must be divided by the number of paylines to get the real-world payout. The dragon symbol also pays 50x the total bet for a full payline of eight of a kind, which is a fair bit more than the second-placed crown symbol, which has a return of just 20x for all eight symbols. The goblet awards 15x for a complete payline, whilst the final high-paying symbol – an ornate dagger – is worth 10x. As for the low pays, there are five royal symbols with payouts ranging between 5x and 9x for an eight of a kind combination.

You never know what you will get with the betting range offered in Red Tiger’s slots! This time around, the minimum allowed bet has been set at €0.10, whilst the maximum is relatively low for a top-tier slot at just €6.00 per spin.

Base Game & Modifiers

Reel Keeper Power Reels Slot Base Game

Reel Keeper Power Reels uses an enormous reel set compared to other line-based online slots. Forty paylines would be a fairly large number in a standard 5×3 video slot, but it’s a drop in the ocean on an 8×6 layout such as this one. The highest-paying dragon symbol will award a win for just two matches, whilst everything else requires a minimum of three.

Dragon Wild

At the beginning of any spin, the dragon may fly in from the top of the screen to add a full-height stacked Dragon Wild to the reels. The dragon will always drop these symbols on the rightmost reel initially but will return on subsequent spins to move the symbol one position to the left.

Multiple dragon wilds can occupy the reels simultaneously, and the dragon will continue to return at the start of every spin, provided that at least one of these symbols is visible on the reels.

Reel Keeper Power Reels Slot Bonus Features

Free spin scatter symbols appear on all eight reels, but only three are required to trigger a bonus round. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any benefit to triggering the bonus with more than three symbols, which seems like a major oversight on Red Tiger’s part.

Free Spins

Activating the bonus round will grant you ten free spins. If any Dragon Wild symbols are visible when the feature is triggered, those will be automatically transferred to the new reels at the start of the bonus round.

During free spins, the dragon may decide to drop Dragon Wilds anywhere on the playfield rather than just the rightmost reel. The dragon will still return at the start of each spin to shift all visible Dragon Wilds one position to the left. Any wilds which reach the left of the reels will lock into place for the remainder of the bonus round, so it’s theoretically possible to achieve a full screen of stacked wilds by your eighth spin.

The bonus reels do not contain any scatter symbols, so it is not possible to re-trigger the free spins feature. Unfortunately, this means you’ll need to get lucky during your first few spins to stand a chance at making a big profit from the feature.

Reel Keeper Power Reels Slot Review Final Thoughts

I’d forgotten just how much fun the Power Reels slots can be, so I’m really pleased that Red Tiger has decided to continue the series with Reel Keeper. The base game payouts could be better, but the free spins and top jackpot of nearly 20,000x the total bet make this a must-play release.
