Slot Overview

Red Hot Chilli is the latest Blueprint Gaming release, and this game attempts to turn up the heat with a 6-reel, 4,096-ways-to-win setup, layered Chilli Collect mechanics, and a 10,000x maximum win. Does it successfully deliver that mouth-watering blast of heat, though, or is it another example of a hold-and-collect slot that… nobody asked for? Let’s find out.

Gameplay & Bonus Features

Red Hot Chilli is played on a 6-reel layout with 4,096 ways to win. Wins are formed by landing 3+ matching symbols on consecutive reels from left to right. The RTP is fixed at 95%, and you can spin from €0.10 to €25 per spin.

Now, Wilds land on reels 2-6 and substitute for all regular symbols. You’ll also see Cash Prize symbols landing, and these display values of between 0.5x and 15x. Cashpots can also land: Mini (20x), Minor (50x), Major (200x), and Mega (2,500x).

At the heart of the game is the Chilli Collect symbol, active on reels 1 and 6. When it lands alongside any Cash Prize or Cashpot symbols, it expands to cover the reel and collects all visible cash values in view for that spin. Each time you land a Collect symbol, it adds to an unlock trail, too:

  • 2 Collects unlocks Win Streak(respins with sticky cash symbols).
  • 5 Collects unlock Win Stepper (cash symbols expand up or down the reel).
  • 8 Collects unlock Win Blast (cascading collection up to four times).
  • 12 Collects unlock the Spicy Fortune Wheel.
  • 16 Collects unlock the Hot Chilli Pot.
  • 20 Collects unlock the Even More Chilli Bonus.

Once you unlock Collect symbols, they remain unlocked, and they also carry into bonus spins. That makes Red Hot Chilli yet another Blueprint Gaming release that requires you to “unlock” the game fully before the best bonuses can be accessed.

If you land 3+ bonus symbols in view, you’ll trigger 10 Chilli Bonus Spins – or even more Chilli Spins, if unlocked. During the Chilli Bonus Spins, any Collect symbol that lands gathers all visible cash values and pays them to you as a cash prize. The goal is to accumulate Collect symbols, too, as doing so awards extra spins and multipliers:

  • 3 Collects: +5 spins & x2 multiplier
  • 6 Collects: +5 spins & x3 multiplier
  • 9 Collects: +5 spins & x5 multiplier
  • 12 Collects: +5 spins & x10 multiplier

If cash symbols land without a Collect in view, they feed into the Hot Chilli Pot, too. Randomly, on a losing spin, the pot can randomly trigger one of several modifiers, including Bonus Boost, Chilli Win Spin, Pinata Frenzy, Super Collect, Chilli Strike, and Spicy Fortune Wheel.

Finally, the Even More Chilli Bonus. This is unlocked at 20 collected symbols. This upgraded bonus awards you with 10 enhanced spins, with a pre-bonus picking round. Here, you get to pick from symbols on screen to unlock boosters like extra spins, cash-only reels, extra Collect symbols, and multiplier boosts.

Theme & Design

Red Hot Chilli is set against a vibrant Mexican street market backdrop, and you’ll see a warm, attractive sunset in the backdrop, with a soundtrack that gives off a mariachi-inspired vibe!

For a Blueprint Gaming release, it’s pretty good; sure, it won’t win any awards for design creativity, but it does what it needs to, and it nicely sets the tone and scene for the game. Visually, for us, the game feels quite similar to Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways you’ll see Blueprint’s bold animation style here, while the cash collection mechanic more closely resembles The Dog House, we feel.

Pros

  • Win up to 10,000x.
  • Quite a deep, layered, collect-focused progression mechanic.
  • Lots of unlockable upgrades/bonuses.

Cons

  • Below-average RTP of 95%.
  • Need to fully unlock the game for the best win potential.
  • No Bonus Buy available.

Final Thoughts

Red Hot Chilli is... well, what can we say; It's the exact same game we’ve seen Blueprint Gaming pushing out a near-endless stream of in recent months, and there’s virtually nothing new about it. It borrows some mechanics from Fishin’ Frenzy-style games, sure, but what this is, in our opinion, is a lazy, cheap attempt from Blueprint Gaming to reskin a semi-popular mechanic with just a new theme.

All of the gameplay revolves around landing and upgrading Collect symbols, but, as is the case with all of these style games, you basically need to reach the last few levels to have any shot at really good wins anyway, and the best version of the bonus round doesn’t unlock right until the end!

Yes, it’s got a decent maximum win potential of 10,000x, and there is some excitement in the game; so, if you’re brand new to the format or love the style for some reason, it may appeal to you, yes. For us, though, it’s boring, bland, uncreative, and unoriginal. Do better, Blueprint Gaming!
