Game Overview
Pimped was one of the first Play’N’Go slots I ever played, and it piqued my interest in the developer enough for me to take a look at some of their other games straight afterwards. This is a ten-line game with a theoretical maximum win of 10,000x your stake, though I have never seen any evidence of this being hit by anyone despite the game having been out for several years now. As with many other Play’N’Go slots, pay very close attention to the RTP listed in the information pages whenever you play Pimped at a new casino – the RTP is selectable by the casino owner and can be as high as 96.52% or as low as 84.51%. That is a huge range and will significantly affect how long your bankroll lasts. Be sure to check!
There aren’t too many features to speak of in Pimped – so much so that the entire paytable and information section only spans three pages, even on mobile! This was one of the first games I played that featured “Win Spins”, which I thought was a neat concept – every free spin you play in this game will award you a win. It might be a small win, but it’s a win nonetheless!
If you’ve never played this game before, I absolutely recommend giving this one a try right now using our free demo slot of Pimped on this page. Come back and check the rest of the review afterwards if you do, though, as I’m going to reveal the meaning of life in a later paragraph. Probably.
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
What do you call the theme in a game like this? A cartoonish take on the oldest profession in the world? Microgaming’s Playboy without the stripping ladies? You know what, I’m not touching this one with a ten-foot pole. It’s called “Pimped”. It features Pimps and girls in bikinis. Insert your preferred descriptive word here! As for the graphics, well, I’m sure there is somebody in New York who has that sofa in their ”pimp” apartment, and if that is the case, I’m sure girls similar to the ones featured on the symbols once sat on it. Pretty authentic, then! The sound stays quiet until you begin to spin the reels, at which point the volume of the music is increased. The loop is a little on the short side and does become repetitive, though it is broken up by enough sound effects that I didn’t end up reaching for the mute button. If you’re a player who likes to listen to a solid beat whilst playing, head over to our music slots section, where you’ll find something funky to tap your foot to.
These days, Play’N’Go organise their paytables in terms of “Times the Stake, but sadly this was not the case back when their Pimped slot game was released. Instead, wins are shown in coins, so I will do you the favour of working out the math. Five Wilds on a payline pay the most of all the symbols at 100x for five-of-a-kind. Next in the hierarchy is the Pimp symbols, which pay 75x your stake for five on a payline. After this, you have the Gangster at 50x, the Babes at 40x, and then the Gold Watch and Stacks of Cash, which both pay out 25x your bet. Here’s
We end this section with the betting ranges, and the lowest stake you can place is €0.01 – that’s one payline, one cent, and a coin value of a penny. You can increase this to €2.00 coin sizes, five coins per line, and a maximum of ten paylines for a top bet of €100.00 per spin.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game in Pimped is as straightforward as they come – a five-by-three play area with ten paylines in standard positions spread across the reels. The wilds are stacked on all reels, which is nice to see and adds nicely to the win potential during the base game. Apart from this, though, there is little to break up the action.
Pimped Slot Bonus Features
You’ll need at least three large dollar symbols to trigger the free spins feature, beginning with five “win spins” on your counter. Unfortunately, you don’t receive any additional free spins no matter how many scatters you hit, and this is made even more frustrating because of the lack of payout for the scatters themselves. However, the bonus round is at least a good one, so let’s get back to having fun and talk about that!
Win Spins Feature
During the free spins bonus in Pimped, you are guaranteed a win on every single spin! This is really cool, and I don’t remember ever seeing it before I played this game. Since then, Play’N’Go has used it many more times, and some other developers have even borrowed the concept as well.
Any scatters appearing on the reels during free spins add one additional free spin to your remaining total – unlike the triggering scatters, it really does matter how many dollar signs appear during the free spins. Hit all five at once, and you will given an extra five free spins, for example.
Bonus rounds tend to go on for quite a while, as hitting one dollar sign happens frequently. I would guess that this is why Play’N’Go imposes a maximum cap on the number of win spins that can be awarded at 20 free spins. This feels a little low to me – some games give you this many (or more!) free spins to start with!
Pros
- It can be played on just one payline.
- A well-executed theme from Play'n GO.
Cons
- Spins capped at 20 in the bonus,
- Variable RTP models are in play, so be sure to check.
Pimped Slot Review Final Thoughts
Pimped is a fun slot to play where you can raise the stakes if you're feeling flush or strip it right back and just play with one payline active at a minimal amount. Yes, some may argue that the base game lacks any substance, but it's all about that free spins feature, and if you hit a full line of premiums, I'll guarantee you won't be complaining one bit.
