Game Overview
Zeus is one of the most popular characters from ancient Greek religion to feature in online slots – fitting, perhaps, considering that he was believed to be the king of the gods. The legend goes that he was the youngest of three children born to Cronus and Rhea, and as iSoftBet has already published an Olympus Hades Megaways, I’d say it’s a good bet we will see an Olympus Poseidon Megaways game at some point in the near future! For the time being, though, we’ll be concentrating on Olympus Zeus Megaways – a 200,704 payway machine with a 96% RTP and a maximum win of 50,000x the total bet.
Like most other Megaways slots, this one features cascading reels that allow you to win several times from a single paid spin. Two base game modifiers have been included; the first will force the current game round to spin in the maximum of 200,704 pay ways, whilst the second is dubbed ‘Zeus Wilds’ and will add a random number of additional wild symbols to the reels. The main bonus round offers up to 22 free spins with a progressive multiplier feature, and this can also be purchased via a bonus buy facility at the cost of 75x the normal price per spin.
Zeus almost sounds friendly in comparison to his brother Hades, who was the purported King of the Underworld… but is he as generous? Find out with our free demo slot of Olympus Zeus Megaways, available to play below.
Olympus Zeus Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
When I first began to play Olympus Zeus Megaways, I incorrectly believed that I had reviewed the game last week. The reason for the confusion was that Playtech has just released a similar game titled Age of the Gods: King of Olympus Megaways. Whilst both of these titles have similar names and bonus rounds, iSoftBet’s new release has a larger feature set, more Megaways, and a much larger jackpot of 50,000x the total bet rather than the 18,000x offered by the Playtech slot. Of course, very few players are ever likely to achieve either of these jackpot figures, but a bigger jackpot is still likely to attract a greater number of punters.
Zeus makes a predictable appearance on this game’s paytable as the highest-paying symbol and awards 50x the total bet for a full payway of six of a kind. The second-place spot goes to Pegasus, who offers a return of 7.5x for all six of her symbols, followed by a lion and a harp, which share equal payouts of 2x for a complete payway. That’s the lot as far as the high pays are concerned – the game includes scatter and wild symbols too, but neither of these has any cash payout attached. As for the low pays, the Ace and King will each award 1.75x the bet for all six symbols, with the remaining royals paying either 1x or 0.9x for a six-of-a-kind combination.
Clicking on the coin symbol directly below the spin button will take you to a second page where you can change your current coin value. The available options range between €0.01 and €1.00, resulting in minimum/maximum total bets of €0.20 and €20.00, respectively.
Base Game & Modifiers
It’s immediately apparent that Olympus Zeus Megaways has been built using the same template as Olympus Hades Megaways, but iSoftBet has made a few improvements along the way. Whilst the Hades game offered the standard maximum of 117,649 Megaways, this machine boosts that total up to an impressive 200,704. Despite this change, the highest-paying Zeus symbol still has a small payout for just two symbols, with all other combinations requiring at least three matches starting from the leftmost reel to avoid a win.
Max Megaways
Keep your eyes peeled for a huge ‘Max Megaways’ logo whilst spinning this game, as this will let you know that the current game round will feature the maximum possible 200,704 Megaways! Unfortunately, this modifier does not guarantee that the spin will result in a win.
The paytable states that this modifier can be triggered on any spin, but I’m unsure if that includes the free spins feature – I never saw it activate there myself.
Zeus Wilds
On any spin, Zeus may appear on the left of the reel set, firing thunderbolts that will transform regular symbols into wilds. The paytable doesn’t state if there is a minimum/maximum number of wilds added by this modifier, but it does promise that every feature activation will result in a win.
Olympus Zeus Megaways Slot Bonus Features
You’ll need to hit four or more of the Zeus scatter symbols to trigger the free spins feature. The number of triggering scatter symbols determines the number of spins awarded; a four-scatter trigger will grant you 12 free spins, whilst five or six scatters award 17 or 22 free spins, respectively.
Free Spins
The free spins feature includes an ascending multiplier feature that begins at 1x on your first spin. Every winning combination that lands on the reels will trigger a cascade sequence, increasing the current round multiplier by a further 1x. The increased multiplier becomes active immediately, so it will be applied to any further wins that result from the current cascade.
The free spins can also be re-triggered – three more Zeus scatters award an additional five free spins, whilst four or more will top up your remaining counter with ten more free spins.
Bonus Buy
If permitted within your country or jurisdiction, iSoftBet has included a bonus buy facility that allows you to bypass the base game and instantly trigger a set of free spins. The cost of using this option looks pretty reasonable at 75x the normal price per spin – 25% less than the equivalent feature in many other Megaways games.
Olympus Zeus Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts
Olympus Zeus Megaways is very similar to iSoftBet’s previous game Olympus Hades Megaways, but this one has a superior feature set, in my estimation. Both games share identical RTPs and 50,000x jackpots, so why not check them out for yourself?
