Set over a 5-reel, 3-row configuration, Neopunk Charge Up comes with 25 fixed paylines paying from left to right. The staking options are somewhat odd, ranging from a low of €0.25 to a high of €8.75, with the return to player percentage also raising eyebrows, coming in at just 94%.

Every scatter that lands in the base game is collected into the Charge Up meter. Once 20 Scatters have been collected, the meter is filled.

When this happens, either free spins are triggered or one of the available upgrades is unlocked. Each upgrade can only be unlocked once per bet level, and progress is tracked separately depending on your stake.

If free spins are triggered directly by landing 3 or more scatters, those symbols are still added to the meter, and any excess is stored and processed after the feature ends.

Free Spins & Upgrades

When the feature begins, you’ll start with 5 spins, and any upgrades that have been unlocked on that bet level are activated and will shape how the round plays out.

There are three upgrades in total. One of them adds between 1 and 3 Wilds onto the reels each spin. These Wilds can also spread to nearby symbols, including diagonals, turning them into Wilds as well and increasing your chances of landing bigger combinations.

Another upgrade focuses on multipliers, applying a random x2, x3 or x5 boost to each spin, which can quickly build up the value of any wins during the feature.

The final upgrade is the combination setup, where both the extra Wilds and the multiplier are active together, giving you the benefit of stronger board coverage alongside boosted payouts.

If more than one upgrade is active at the same time, the game applies them in a set order. First the extra wilds are added, then any spreading effects take place, and finally the multiplier is applied before the win is calculated.

Theme & Design

You might already be familiar with the Charge Up mechanic in previous releases from ReelPlay, such as Mystic Dolphin Charge Up and Hot Jalapeno Charge Up, but rather than the ocean and food, NeoPunk Charge Up sets you crashing off into the future, with cool gadgets, robots, slick graphics, and plenty of dazzling colours. If you have been a fan of the Charge Up gaming engine so far, I’d say, to date, Neopunk is the best with regard to its design and overall production.
