Game Overview
Casino game and slot provider Playtech plunges you miles beneath the surface in their Mystic Mines slot that comes with multiplier wilds, scatter pays, and a 6,493x maximum win potential! Gear up and join me as we explore this release in our full review.
Theme & Design
One of the things about Playtech games is that many players felt they generally used to look quite dated. This is a fair criticism, and even looking at some of their most popular slots, like Great Blue and Gladiator Jackpot, well, you don’t have to play for long to see that they’re quite basic in every aspect.
Mystic Mines, however, is a welcome upgrade, and the visuals are really impressive, in our opinion. The reels themselves are set deep within a mine, and there’s a bearded miner sat above the reels. The symbols include low-value gemstones and the high-value, theme-specific symbols, including a minecart, a lantern, and a pickaxe.

Mystic Mines Gameplay & Features
Mystic Mines is played on a 6×5 layout, and you can wager between €0.10 and €5 per spin. There’s a slightly above-average RTP of 96.38%, and the hit frequency falls into the average range of 29.48%.
You won’t find any paylines in Mystic Mines, as the game uses a scatter pays mechanic. This means wins are formed by landing symbols anywhere in view, and provided you land a minimum of 8 of the same symbol on the screen, you’ll form a win! Plus, like most scatter pays slots, Mystic Mines uses a cascading reels mechanic.
After each win, the symbols involved in the win are removed, and any remaining symbols on the reels fall to the bottom of the reels. This process continues as long as new wins are formed and is present in both the base game and the free spins bonus. During the base game, there’s also a Wild Multiplier mechanic in play. Any time a wild symbol helps to form a win, the multiplier increases, and this is “stored” and carried over to the free spins bonus when triggered.
Mystic Mines’ main bonus round is a free spins feature, and it’s triggered by landing four or more scatter symbols anywhere in view. You’ll win between 15 and 25 free spins, depending on the number of scatters landed, and the multiplier you’ve built in the base game will carry over to the free spins.
Now, each time you form a win with a wild symbol, the total multiplier increases by +1 or +2 if you enable the Extra Bet Wild Multipliers. This is a base game feature that increases your stake by 1.5x and, in return, doubles the multiplier jumps during the bonus round.
Mystic Mines also offers a Buy Feature. This allows you to purchase the main free spins bonus for a cost of 50x.
Pros
- Great visuals & graphics.
- Win more than 6,400x.
- Unique wild multiplier mechanic.
Cons
- Not all online casinos stock Playtech games.
- The bonus buy is not available in all regions.
- Payouts don't increase after 12 symbols.
Mystic Mines Slot Review Final Thoughts
Playtech games rarely get the recognition they deserve, and this is because the software provider has chosen primarily to focus on powering large bookmaker sites and developing other iGaming products.
So, when they end up producing a slot that’s good, we like to see it, and Mystic Mines is, in our opinion, a solid slot. The Wild Multiplier mechanic ensures there’s action in both the bonus round and the base game, and we like how the multiplier carries over into the bonus, as this means you can begin the feature with a decent shot at hitting big wins.
The bonus buy costs just 50x, too, which means the feature is accessible to players on lower budgets, and with a maximum potential of 6,493x, you can hit some solid wins, too!
